  • We’ve been testing the odd dashcam of late, and always look for the same thing: clear video and sound. Anything else is a bonus, and Navman MiVue PRO 4K has excellent video quality (NOTE: we produce our videos in 1080P).
    Written Review HERE: gaycarboys.com/2023-navman-mi...
Navman was once the high-end makers of navigation systems, but as inbuilt systems became more ubiquitous, Navman saw the graffiti on the train, and started making navigation/dashcam combination units. They looked pretty sexy but navigation systems are big, and most people will want to use CarPlay or Android Auto.
So, Navman developed stand-alone dashcams, and they are crackers. They work well, are clear, easy to install, and work straight from the box. In fact, most people will probably never have to refer to the manual, such is the ease of working through the on-screen menu.
Navman MiVue PRO 4K is the new kid, and has the same size screen (2.7”) as my Navman Sensor XL DC.
Unlike the Sensor XL DC, the Navman MiVue PRO 4K uses a 3M stick-on pad to secure to the windscreen. There is an electro-static plastic sheet that can be used in-between, to make removal easier should the need arise. It means the Navman MiVue PRO 4K is not transportable as such.
    Design:
Navman MiVue PRO 4K is a new direction for Navman. The casing is of decent quality, and although extremely lightweight, feels sturdy. The camera sits at the side of the unit and can be directed over a smallish range, but only up and down. The unit sits flat against the windscreen which means the screen is also at a sharply raked angle.
There is a rear camera option, and if not purchased from new, can be added later as an accessory.
The unit comes with a long mini USB to 12V cord, and SD card (32gb front camera only, 64gb for dual camera models), a second electro-static plastic sheet, and the 3M mount. The camera can be removed from the mount which makes taking the SD car out a bit easier.

    Thanks for the review.
I noted in your review you had just the speed/date on screen however having just purchased a MiVue Pro 4K, I cannot find this option anywhere in the menu or user guide. Can you advise how you switched to this screen? Thanks.

When we reviewed this it was not an "option" unlike previous models, it was there, always. Not only that, it is hard coded, so i suggest you contact support. it is very odd that it isn't there (out of the box).

Are you going to do any night footage of this camera?
You seem to be the only one reviewing this camera (thank you)
are navman's a reliable brand of dash camera, in your opinion?

We didn't shoot any night footage sadly. We like Navman's glass lenses and that they seem to be reliable. We compared the video to our other Navman footage, and of other brands as well. Seems to be worth the money.

How do you think it compares with the Viofo you previously reviewed? It is about twice the price yet seems to have very similar features.
Neither actually come up as being in the top dash cams in reviews I have read if that means anything.
Our fairly old and cheap Garmin 45 is still performing perfectly but I want to buy one for our two children’s cars but it’s a very confusing market.

I liked both, The Viofo wins on price for sure. I think the Navman is probably a little clearer. Both are easy to use. I've been using a navman for several years and it has always been reliable but it is the only brand i've done a long term review of. I was surprised at how good the Viofo was for the price though

@@WazzaG076 not as much help as i'd have liked. i didn't test the Viofo long term, only for the week. I suggest always googling reviews and issues etc no matter what product it is

can you truly clearly see the plate number on the rear side i am looking for a really good brand to install in our car after having our car hit at the back then the party at fault just ran off left my child traumatised we only have the front cam installed even that one is useless because the plate number cant be clearly seen which is frustrating on my part

Don't purchase this item by itself as you can't purchase the rear camera down the track all knows it has the input to connect the rear camera and to spend around $ 350 not to be able to purchase the rear camera spend extra $ 100 and buy it as a daul camera pack instead but if you don't need the rear camera then just buy as a single camera for the price for around $350
