When I practice this form, its about half his speed. Moving at this speed I wind up incredibly fatigued. His form is very similar to the Shi De Yang version, but there are more precise movements, and a few very useful techniques have been added or augmented.
Every single kung fu form and position have LOTS of combat applications :) but there are lots of mechanics you need to know. Thats why its recommended to train Sanda as well, so you can understand the use of everything you've trained. I can figure out more than 10 ways making an opponent insta-fall with the first position you learn, "mabu" or horse. Also, try having your meal with a good mabu performance. Your legs will be the strongest in your city ><
@fugoung1 Really? You obviously don't know what you're talking about. This is an excellent performance of a traditional Shaolin Boxing form, performed with skill, power, focus and intent. The versions of each form vary from master to master, but I can assure you that it is a pure, traditional Shaolin form practiced by the monks themselves.
@lesterado You saying those moves where to complexe for a fight? Looked pretty straight forward to me compared to many forms. No buts, this is kicking and boxing.
I wish i could learn that form, the real xiao hong quan. The place I go to teaches a shortened version, not even half as long as this one. It also leaves out a lot of the cool moves too.
@JosiahWarren MMA fighters are good fighters, i can respect that, but you need to remember the word RULES. In mma there are rules and outside, there are none. In kung fu, there are styles that concentrate on striking places like the groin, eyes, neck, ears, and other vital points. This of course is not allowed in ufc because they dont want people to die or suffer even more dangerous injuries. comparing mma to this just doesnt work.
depends, you have many schools when they only teach you these sorts of "fake"fighting( illusionary imponents) but for self defence you have to search for a full contact school. when using full contact it's really effective but also the non contact version of kung fu gives you a higher knowledge of your own body sorry for my bad english :D
No. But you can try to practice the forms and feel the hardest training ever made :) Run till the sweat makes ur eyes itch, then keep running for another hour, eat some rice, stretch, perform every kick you can, the fastest and highest you can, and keep doing it. My sifu grabbed my shirt one day I asked him what kung fu is, then he took all the sweat out, then he told me, kung fu is to fill a bucket everyday with the sweat of your clothes. Stretch, practice and use the forms to get (real) strong
@JosiahWarren the forms aren't for fighting, they are for balance, strength and coordination as well as getting the body used to the movements of fighting, for real fighting alot of them practice sanshou, which is used in ufc by fighters such as Cung Le
@MrQbanD well, the Hong Quan movement have become your habit in every fight then yea. If you're able to apply it without having to remember then you've hit the jackpot.
Most of what you say is true; however, I would say that a far majority of these forms can be used in combat but you have to learn the application of the form in order to use it in real combat. You are right that Shaolin Kung Fu is more spiritual because it's meditation in motion.
This is the way it should be done. Moderate speed and lots of power. Not fast and weak like those wushu guys. This form that he did looks a lot longer than the other xiao hong quans I have seen. Is this a different xiao hong quan?
Hey, if you're lookin' for fights, martial arts is not for you. Unless they have a gun, running and avoiding trouble is always the best option. Can't deal with not gettin' your little revenge? The world's not fair, but you gotta be the bigger man...
@donismail I am still doin it but i really share your mind^^ it is a very beautiful form to watch but just when another person shows^^ it really hurts after 10 times
You can use most of the kick to open the doors. I mean when I carry a armfull of groceries into my house. After 8 years of Kung fu ( that more than half of my lifespan) I never used it once in a fight. Canada sucks.
You don't need KF in life seriously, it's not for fighting, it's art with a fighting quality. maybe it used to be for fighting, but now we're more civilized. It's not up to me to decide when you use KF, maybe use stances to catch yourself when you trip on sidewalks. you'll know when you should use it-good KF comes out naturally. If I'm not smart, you shouldn't ask me anything. Having studying KF, I can tell you 1 move = 1,000 applications. that maneuver at 34 sec. could be...
a. a low punch b. punch to the leg that blocks a kick c. ducking d. he's moving too fast in this one-watch another demo.; one arm punches down, other punches up = downward arm in front could grab instead of punch, drag enemy into the upward arm's uppercut. e. you decide~ ... ... 1,000 possiblities...
He is a shaolin disciple I doubt that he will get even one move wrong because he spends time drilling this form to the point where he can probably do it blind and besides who r u to talk about this form being bad.
There is no wrong or right! I love it when people say “meh, that’s wrong” what, you learnt it a slightly different way?! And what, you’re right and this apparent disciple is wrong?? Get over yourselves and appreciate actual kung fu! This is decent! Explosive, powerful, you can see every pattern and imagine the applications and he is obviously extremely fit and flexible in mind and body! True kung fu!

Hahahha thanks for the advice ! Indeed i started practicing that stance and its pretty hard to maintain it but its pretty cool to improve everytime !
esto es en el templo fawang!!!!!!!!!!!!
Xiao Hong Quan! The Mother of all Shaolin Fist forms!
Hola mucho gusto es un placer saludarle mis estimados amigos.?
This is the Showhun (sp) form, I went to China for a month and this is the form I first learnt. This fighter does it with amazing speed and energy.
Nice clean and crisp form, I like it. They say that often others measure your skill and accuracy of your study by your competency of this form.
very powerful and well performed
@fugoung1 Really? You obviously don't know what you're talking about. This is an excellent performance of a traditional Shaolin Boxing form, performed with skill, power, focus and intent. the version that he's performing is almost identical to the one i'm learning and my shifu is also a 35th generation monk.
i love doing a form this way, clean and defined movements
Awesome, very fast, very powerful, very strong.
@lesterado You saying those moves where to complexe for a fight? Looked pretty straight forward to me compared to many forms. No buts, this is kicking and boxing.

Blllaapp! Blllaaap!
That was straight up G!
i remember this being the longest most tiring form EVER
you never heard of chang hu xinyi men quan
@fugoung1
Agree would love to see him doing this with not such much power but more expressions of the meanings of the form.
VERY good gong fu
It looks like y'all might actually be in front of Shaolin. Is that correct?

if you use it correctly, all martial arts are effective.
@keerthibsp mma, western boxing, kickboxing, etc... = fighting sport
wushu, kung fu, karate, ninjutsu, etc... =martial art
:) happy new year btw

This looks like Lohan form.

@warriorbook you can't say it's martial art. you must say it's you. MMA can defeat kung fu to. it all depends of your skills.
@WahrerDrache

This Guy Shows Fā Qing
The spelling is in the title. Xiao Hong. Your welcome.
a. a low punch
b. punch to the leg that blocks a kick
c. ducking
d. he's moving too fast in this one-watch another demo.; one arm punches down, other punches up = downward arm in front could grab instead of punch, drag enemy into the upward arm's uppercut.
e. you decide~

1,000 possiblities...
i always hated this form, oh my god... i spent too much time on doing it!!! =)
speed hide a lot of mistakes. why rush when it is NOT COMPLETE ?
There might be a few mistakes but his form is still good nontheless
He is a shaolin disciple I doubt that he will get even one move wrong because he spends time drilling this form to the point where he can probably do it blind and besides who r u to talk about this form being bad.

there was a lot wrong with the form & execution
a lot
There's always some armchair expert who claims to know and do things better. That's TH-cam for ya.
Ameri-do-te is the best style anyway ... all else is bullshit :)
