There is not a master-off switch but there are 12V and USB buttons on the front and if those are turned off then there won't be any draw on the battery and you are okay to store the unit.
This thing is garbage it's never supposed to go under 12 volts, I just got one, the batteries flat, no voltage. You're destroying your battery by letting it go under 12 V and trying to charge something at 10 watch.
Sorry to hear you're having problems and hopefully you can return for a refund or replacement. Mine is going strong and still being used on a somewhat regular basis. I try to keep it between 20%-80% when stored.
