I've never smelled a Joir, I also blind-bought a sample of this(because its a Tom Ford) and with the name had no clue what I was getting myself into. I just put it on and it threw me against the wall, holy crap it was strong! I hated it the first 10 seconds to minute. What I smelled at first was *Very 'clean', citrus, soapy, powdery, flower smell of some kind, bitter but balanced sweetness (like a grapefruit), and definitely Spring Irish soap.* I'm a complete amateur when it comes to fragrances and have only worn Ross, TJ max, Hollister stuff so for my nose this was so different. It smells very nice now and clean, I like it. Thank you for this review, with it on my skin and having my nose get used to this smell I can pick up the notes you're talking about.
I will buy this, I personally enjoy this was a lot even though I have been told it smells like a old man, but I don't think so, it smells like Aveda hair products, the performance is strong I will probably get a 50ml for as often as I wear it and as little as you need to use. Also you do want to make sure your dressed right, it doesn't go with a hoodie it feels out of place at times.
On my skin this opens opens up like mosquito repellent ( no lavender )but quickly dries down to a green mossy soothing gentlemen like scent. Good stuff but Not sure if I'd keep coming back to it.

I feel the opening of private blend one is slightly better it’s slightly darker to my nose but still Beau de jour not worth for the private blend price
theyre literally the same thing... its hilarious all the people trying to justify their private blend purchases with the rerelease being cheaper by saying it smells better when theyre virtually the same. And neither is worth the price when theyre just a clone of Zino which is a 20 dollar fragrance that smells the exact same for 1/9 of the price of even the non-private blend Tom Ford..
Dylan Foster I don’t own any Beau de jour but I smelt them both on the counter it’s just my nose feel the private one is richer I have a super sharp nose even Tuscan Leather is not dark enough to my nose I don’t like green/fresh fragrances anyways it’s just my feeling I only wear costa Azzurra as fresh scent.

I like how you articulate through your reviews much more cerebral than your typical fly-by-nite, fragrance reviewer out there, they waste my time by describing everything this way, "...mmmm you get that blast of citrus, wow, it's got that freshness, you got spices in there, hmmmm, you get that woodiness, ohh..." etc Every single review they do is the exact same review words. I don't even know how a guy like Street scents can survive in his youtube videos, he has no content, he has no review prowess, just same ol words used over and over again for every single fragrance. I don't waste my time on his videos anymore.

For me the note that is strong is the geranium. BTW I LOVED you in American Psycho. Two-toned Rolexes are reportedly back in style now too. Win-Win.
Update more than a year later. I love it! Still smells like mosquito repellent in the opening a bit but i love it.
