The private blend beau du jour got me max 6 hours. So disappointing.. amazing fragrance though. I hope signature blend is stronger the way ombré leather signature release became stronger and better performing than my Tuscan leather (12 hrs ombré - 8 Tuscan).
Max could you please, please review TF white suede. No one on TH-cam has reviewed it yet.. I would love your opinion..

I find this to be a superb release. I own Azzaro Pour Homme, YSL Rive Gauche, Fougere Royal by Houbigant, Invasio Barbare by MDCI... And this one is probably one of my favorites. It is an EDP and is on the stronger side. It definitely requires a certain age to pull it off (30 plus) and not for very casual wearings. But it has replaced Rive Gauche as my work scent. Two to three sprays for work.

Just bought this today after some sample testing. Its amazing. I think it can be worn casually as long as you’re clean cut, well groomed and your style of casual is still classy, and not something like workout attire.
I want to try this .I'm excited about this.Classic refinement and sophistication is the image that I want to embody and this fragrance sounds like it's right in my alley.

I spoke with a Tom Ford rep last week. He told me that Beau de Jour was never meant to be in the private line, as was Ombré Leather. They put them in the private line as Fashion Week exclusives as a limited edition. The smell is different due to the glass it is contained in.
Chris of Frag-Mental just put out a review of Beau de Jour and had mentioned how it really did not smell like a private blend fragrance. When I thought about it, he had a point. It really does not fit with the others in the private blend line. I figured that may have something to do with the changeup, though I was unsure what exactly. Now, with what you have stated, that would make a lot of sense.

I sprayed this on at a local shop. Couldn’t stop thinking about it, I loved it so much. Had to go back and buy it. Not a bad price for Tom Ford.
I blind bought this directly from the TF website after reading the description and seeing every positive review. I though it was terrible when I got it. Harsh, potent, medicinal, all over the place, headache inducing, old hippies doused in lavender oil. Spend a few days with it and didn't even feel like I could wear it around the house, let alone in public. It must have needed time to macerate and chill out for a few months. Six months later I revisited it to clean out my collection and now I find it fantastic. What is the deal with that? It is still very potent, but rounded, refined, classic, masculine.
This has happened to me with a few fragrances. They definitely mature once they have a chance to breathe for a few months. You can never ever base your opinion on the very first few sprays, you need to give it time to develop a little, i know it sounds weird but its true. Once air gets to a fragrance, chemical reaction occurs. Over a very long time the notes will eventually change if not kept in ideal conditions, especially top notes, the color will change, etc. I don’t know what the case is for synthetics, although I’m sure they change over time somehow, I know for a fact with natural ingredients its very true.

Like first meeting someone & not being attracted to them, but after time you start to notice the attractive qualities about them

My favorite fragrance from TF, already smelled . A different take on fougères but still unique ! Good longevity (wish it were longer) but still decent enough to get my hands on a full bottle.
It’s like PR Pour Homme meets Rive Gauche 👌 ❤️
Also a big fan of Beau de Jour. Added to my fougere lineup which includes At The Barber and Fougere Royale. Addicted to Clubman aftershave
I had a chance to smell it at Sephora this past weekend and man this fragrance sure is interesting. I’d never smelled anything quite like it!

This is a BEAUTIFUL Fougere scent, Tom Ford has done his thing on this gem.
Although this one's nice and creamy there's WAY too much Patchouli. Nothing beats the balanced smoothness in YSL Rive Gauche Pour Homme as far as fougeres go in my opinion...

It's a good fragrance but i get quickly bored with fougeres so i don't wear them that much.Green Irish Tweed, Rive Gauche and At the Barbers by Margiela are my favorite fougeres.

I’ve owned so many niche brand. Tom Ford line really last all day till the next day on your skin.
I hope tom ford keeps bringing private blends into the signature collection. The private blends are just too pricey, even the signature scents are upper echelon but the quality warrants it.
Amber Absolute, Plum Japonais or Vert d'Encens in the designer line , that would be great

A Guy perhaps if you own Fougére Royal you’re all set. (Not the same though) worth a try!
Worth having both as they are different. Houbigant Fougere Royale 2010 is a reimagination of the 1882 original, and so is a classic Fougere, not a "barbershop" Fougere in my opinion. Tom Ford Beau de Jour is a barbershop Fougere.

The creator of this perfume is Antoine Maisondieu
same perfumer as Botttega Veneta pour Homme, Armani Code Profumo/Absolu, Burberry London for men.
Well he did a career-defining great job with Beau de Jour then.

My dilemma is to buy or not to buy. I tried it in the local store. I was impressed. Very deep and natural scent. I have never seen Paco Rabanne Pour Homme 1973. Does Paco smell expensive and natural as Beau the Jeur? Best
No, Paco Rabanne Pour Homme smells like cheap laundry detergent. It is dead last in my barbershop Fougere collection. Beau de Jour is #1 in my barbershop Fougere collection. Ahead of frags like Penhaligon Sartorial, Tom Ford Fougere D'Argent and Platine, MDCI Invasion Barbare, Maison Martin Margiela Replica At the Barbers, etc.
It was two months ago. I ordered Paco Rabanne. From Ebay. I have it now. It smells like soap. People around me say " hey man did you have a shower?"
I have Zino. It is okay. I am expecting Azzaro Pour Homme 1978. We will se about Azzaro. Thanks

I’ve sampled the PB and SC versions and agree that the SC release is softer. I like but my wife doesn’t, might be one to get for myself once it hits discounters. I really really wish I could have smelled YSL Rive Gauche to compare to BDJ and all the other often mentioned top fougeres. I’m extremely disappointed I’ve never been able to get my nose on that darn Rive Gauche!!!

Avon Wild Country interestingly smells similar to Old Spice. Not quite as close as Paul Sebastian Fine Cologne but close.

No. Dior Eau Sauvage EDT is an "old school" classic masterpiece citrus Aromatic. Tom Ford Beau de Jour is a masterpiece modern ode to the classic vintage "barbershop" fougere.
Fun fact: Beau de Jour translates as “Boyfriend of the Day.” There was going to Beau de Nuit, but it was scratched.
Didn't "beau" meant "beautiful" (male) in french? It seems it's reference to the movie "Belle de jour". It isn't my first language, but I am not aware of any other meanings. So it would mean "The beauty of the day".

I literally love old-school barbershop fragrances / aromatic fougeres but this smells so synthetic to my nose... they lowered the price but also the quality of it
