I can't even tell you how nice it is to see games like those last two. When you're alone in your house playing MTG:A and your opponents always have exactly what they need, it feels like maybe you're losing your mind. Seeing that YOUR opponents also have exactly what they need is very validating.

@@honestabe411 people sometimes play bad cards. It's how standard has always been. I played paper magic lots during theros standard, i played my fair share of brain maggot in enchantress decks. The fact it triggered enchantress is probably better than keywords on a 1/1. It's never a good card, it's more of an occasionally necessary inclusion depending on the format. It's always going to be over valued because lots of people don't play correctly against it, but it's never good.

If you can explore it up to a 2/2 or 3/3 it becomes pretty scary, but as a 1/1 I can just sit my Faerie Dreamthief of Ledger Shredder in front of it and it become completely worthless outside of holding one of my cards hostage.

It gets rid of the card permanently, unless the opponent has reanimation, the only thing it doesn't offer is a 1/1 lifelinker in the air. If you want a body to pressure the opponent could always play Tenacious underdog. If you want card advantage there is also Fanatical offering. There's lots of other valid and good cards to play in the 2 mana slot in black.

@darthduckky411 You are correct. The Sokenzan line was another lethal in that turn that he missed. Could have also played the discover creature before combat since he could have hit a bat and force the opponent to play. That would have been the 3rd lethal line.

I totally feel what you are about the magic format. I usually love brawl but recently it’s been the same old same old. I just started BO1 Standard and get to good before the lack of wildcards shows up as a problem.
I hope CGB will make a mashup video of games featuring all his love-hate chatter about the bats. Reminds me of his Arjuna chatter about Koma, Cosmos Serpent (these are good cards but only in the right decks)

We sadly didn't get to see the Cruelty of Gix / Carnosaur combo. Tutor up a Carno with chapter 2, channel it as removal, revive it the next turn - great value.
I really enjoy the timeless and brawl content, and I'd love to see more of it. Standard really is a lot of the same decks in every league besides like silver and low gold where the crazy people live.
New to mtg and i would really like to craft this deck. Im currently 7 rare and 2 mythic wildcards short. It looks like i could save quite a few rares by not crafting some of the lands that are rotating out soon. Any1 have any tips on replacements for some of the lands or other cards to make this deck just a tiny bit cheaper and still functional? edit: went ahead and crafted the deck without some of the lands after getting 2 mythic wildcards. loving it so far!

Cool deck and great patience against the mono red deck. When Azorius Mill had 2 life and 3 mana, couldn’t you have done 6 damage to face with the Trumpeting dinosaur discard or am I missing something?
Bat is definitely one of the best turn 2 plays in the format. You steal their next curve out play and get to see their hand - then they waste removal on a stupid bat.
It's basically invasion of gobokan with a tiny edge vs mono red and a large weakness to cut down and sweepers. Definitely not close to the best 2 drop in standard
This is really cool seeing these MTGO decks in BO1 standard. Will we ever see BO3 game play on this channel? Would be kinda cool to see the games in BO3 and comparing the play pattern differences.
To be honest; the extended rotation was a terrible idea and has stripped a lot of the interest in standard away. Terrible decision in my opinion. These net deck tweaks for best-of-one is a cool idea though 👌🏼 Timeless is volatile yet the meta is pretty much set. Historic Brawl is one of the last modes where creativity can still have a spot without sacrificing solid deck building. Keep crafting CGB, you know what you're doing 👊🏼
Not gonna lie at this point I’m rooting against CGB now in these games. He keeps choosing card draw over lethal lately. I cringed at that game vs the mill deck. So many ways he could have won but CGB brain was draw draw draw 🤦♂️
