This build was the first one I ever really put time/effort/levels into back in og LOD days, and it cemented its place in my heart in the process. It’s still my go-to build to this day, and what I always think of first when I think about playing Diablo
In regard to the mercenary, A5 frenzy merc with lawbreakers. Decrep breaks immunities, he does elemental damage, and with oak sage dude gets over 6k life easy.
6:40 I use suicide branch for the 50FCR, 1skills, life, @ res... underrated! The reason for this is to hit the 163FCR BP, which seems to do more dmg than the lower tier, despite the loss in +skills . However, this was when I was still using magi without having enigma, but I am having too much fun on my psn nec with the enigma =D Either way, there may be a reason you'd need the 10 more FCR if trying to hit that BP.
end game best in slot setup for max clear speed on druid is doom axe, 3/3/3, 2os pelt with x2 cold facets, 99 fcr and infinity or dual crescent moon mercs. You'll still hit around 6.6k nado dmg with 99 fcr and your hurricane will do about triple the amount it normally does and your merc will being using static field from crescent moon or crushing blow from infinity on bosses. I wouldn't really recommend this for magic finding or self found runs obviously but it works great if your goal is to level up as fast as possible in TZ solo runs in full games which is the single best way to lvl up now.
fantastic well rounded video, one of the best D2 vids i've seen, really cover all the points especially when it comes from a solo/playthrough perspective which is often overlooked, haven't played druid before but i feel pretty confident now
First boss I fought in hell was Corpsefire and it had freeze and physical immunity. Literally couldn’t do any damage because I only had wind and a bear. Had to restart the level. Interesting first introduction to how bosses can be in Hell.
Is there any purpose to this if you already have a blizzard sorc goin'? I noticed the hurricane cold dmg is around 3.5 K 2:14 whereas my sorc has around 6.5 K blizzard cold damage. I have a fury druid but was considering respeccing him. Cool vid.
Blizz sorc is way faster, but windy druid is much tankier. Nado does physical damage which is a godsend due to low immunes compared to elemental immunes, and cyclone armor might be one of the best defensive skills in the game when fully synergized (imagine having like an extra 2.5k health for wisps and stuff) + tons of minions including oak sage buffing everyone's health to the moon. He doesn't do nearly as much damage as other meta builds but is INCREDIBLY tanky compared to them, which is amazing if you play hardcore or just don't mind trading kill speed for being able to kill most mobs and not dying in 3 hits lol
Go for a nado but with the right gear don’t expect a challenge. If you know what you’re doing and are familiar with caster builds it shouldn’t be too bad. I’m having a lot fun with it though while gearing it up with my other end game character. Will probably do this one next season for fun lol.
For chase gear, I would recommend doom berserk axe over Hoto, especially you have paired with nightwing already. As tornado dps is less impacted by fcr after you have decent fcr, doom shall be of higher priority. Also, for the mana issue, i thing solar creepers is a one point wonder for keeping your mana up. Its very useful after 2.5. it is a godsend when you upgrade to infinity/reaper's toll merc.
Doom is more for the hurricane druid, which is a slightly different build (and more expensive) for both flavors of it, and a lot less SSF friendly. Also, the main reason to stack FCR with tornado is to get as many of the 'radial damages' going at once, since they do not suffer from the delay, unlike the collision damage.
@@Alzorath I get your point. For starting character/ SSF, Hoto will be the go-to and probably keep using it for a long~time(if not til the end) coz we can't find the cham rune( and Lo/Ohm) every day. Yet, except for pvp,i think hurricane build is the ultimate form to be looking for(if you decide to invest heavily for him)... With doom, hurricane will evolve into a different being - finally doing decent aoe dmg and its chill effect (and holy freeze) finally do some meaningful work for you. It well cover tornado's weakness of having relative small area of effect. When the hurricane can perma-stun mods, it not only provides extra layer of safety for a already tanky build ( cyclone armour, holy freeze fm doom, super large health poll- fm oak sage & perhaps blocking) but also kill mods for you at a decent speed(except cold immune tho). sometime(of there is no cold immue), i feel too lazy to cast tornado or only cast it against tougher mods as hurricane kill everything with decent speed already 🙂. I bet It's kind of those lazy playstyle you would love.
The video has solo self found gear recommendations for "budget", and "just enigma and Hoto being the expensive parts" is 100% budget compared to the chase gear on other characters (only "cheaper" character "chase gear" is the bone necro - since white is cheaper than hoto)
Hey @alzorath How do you go about killing Ubers with Wind Druid if the mercenary has Insight? Duress armor? Or can I go with Treachery Armor and try to find the Crushing blow/Open wounds/Prevents monster heal somewhere else? Thanks for the help!
Generally, I wouldn't fight ubers with a wind druid - you're pretty much merc-loading with it if you do, though sunders can make it a little more reasonable, but still far from the best druid form for it (this is more for farming normal game areas)
it's a minor improvement, but due to the wonky aim on tornadoes - it won't be as drastic as people think (most the damage you got before on tornadoes was from the AoE tick)
@@Alzorath ah ok makes sense! Watching all your vids trying to decide what to play for Season 4, and I'm leaning towards fire druid. Finished Season 3 with a Poison Nova Necro and that slapped, albeit I needed a load of gear before I switched from bonemancer to poison but it was a lot of fun!
End-Game is Shako w/ Ist or P-Topaz (typically speaking). But could we also just have fun and slap a Cold Facet into a Shako for that bonus and forego the IF% boost and focus more on the dmg output?
GG is actually a 5-nado helmet (+3 tornado Delirium, or +3 tornado, +2 all skills rare pelt) - for a reasonable end-game setup though - I'd still go P-topaz shako because your hurricane is supplementary damage for the tornado (which is your primary damage)
I rolled a Windy first go when I picked up D2R last year. The Drood Gods smiled upon me and sent a +6 Nado pelt my way. Larzuk rolled it 2 sockets. love to MF with this build, It's a blast. I would like to try a heavier cold spec. Maybe Doom and a night wings, just for fun
this may be the best build when starting the ladder. he can clear the whole game with his skills. i guess peeps prefer hammerdin, but i like the big brown bear.
When you say "annoying" for leveling as a windy I think you are understating the difficulty. I've never solo-self-found anything but a Fire druid for Normal, so I'm honestly not even sure how you would get to level 18 with basically only 5 points invested. Do you just stack strength and cosplay a Barb? or plink with an underpowered bow and 1 point in raven/wolves? I imagine that Andi would be rough.
that's actually not far off what I did for the SSF windy testing lol - lots of throwing potions, and actually did a side of vines in the test too - it helps a bit, but that is another burned couple points, when fake-barbing is about as fast.
@@TheGreektrojan sure enough, it was added in 1.13 in 2010. I can remember feeling pretty stuck on my Summoner Necro in the vanilla D2 but that was mostly for making everyone lag and being chased out of games. Didn't remember that respec wasn't a thing at the time. :D
back in the day, yeah, it was tricky to get to level 24 (twister wasn't very good back then), but stacking on chilling armor did make you quite tanky against most enemies so you basically just beat your enemies to death one at a time, with your wolf summon being able to "tank" for something like Duriel while your merch did the damage but *man*, was it ever satisfying to get your first level in tornado, and once hurricane it's all over
Sandstorm Trek boots might be better since they add 15 to str and 15 to life. If you are lucky you can make a 2 druids skill and 20 faster cast rate ammy. And also there are super rare druid helms that are 2 to druid skills, 3 to tornado and 2 to hurricane, with 2 sockets.
Although it costs 3 skill points, I do like getting the vines as 1 point wonders so I can rock solar creeper + Reaper's Toll on merc. With decent end game gear (hoto + spirit + 2x sojs) I found the mana usually is able to keep up.
5 res 20 lifer small charms or if your broke just get you some 5 res scs. Could also find a gg nado pelt and slap an um in there thats what I'm doing. @@Alzorath I mean I've been around since the beginning. I mean honestly 3 respecs is plenty, but tokens aren't hard to farm either. I have like 10 sitting unused before I started dropping essences. The things drop like candy ya know?
I have literally dozens of tokens in my gomule files (not quite a hundred) - that doesn't mean your average player does, much less your average player that is looking up guides, and if a person burns all their respecs in each difficulty going through - if they find out they hate the build on hell difficulty, they're not going to have a fun time farming those essences.
I just can't stand these spirits, oak and such, they always die 1 hit and actively seek out mobs I wish they were not able to be hit, since they're, you know, spirits
