Best comment 😂😂😂 my thought as soon as the video started. But yes to the creator it looks like a handy way for those that have the equipment. Also a good amount of other information I was able to take from the video.
A utility tractor with a bucket or a forks attachment is more common with us rural homeowners than a backhoe and works the same way. Also, I like to take the opportunity to clean the underside of the deck when I change blades. Thank you for your video 👍
I gotta say it again ! Thanks for the awesome video and like Many others said already The C-Clamp was an awesome idea. That would be a great idea even a regular lawnmower instead of messing around with sticking blocks of wood in there, etc. etc. etc.. to hold the blade. lol ! A lot of the people that commented had some good ideas to. I see you use WD-40 and I had to do what you did to my blades on my lawnmower. I tried doing it on the ground with a big breaker bar and another bar over that to no avail. They still ain’t been sharpened but now I don’t think it’ll be a problem ! Before I saw your video, I was thinking I gotta try WD-40 on the bolts. And then I actually thought the other day while I was driving I have a c along somewhere in my garage. Maybe I can throw some chain over the beam in my garage then take a come-along and lift up the front of the lawnmower like you did. That’s why I picked your video in the first place. 👍🏻
I have ramps to change oil and floor jack. I back up on ramps, jack up front and use jack stands. Feels safer. Like the c-clamp idea to stop blade when removing bolts.
Great Video, just what I was looking for (John Deere E120 Lifting Point with a Strap). A few months ago I purchased an 1,100 Lb Electric Winch from Vevor to Lift the Top Deck of my Sea Doo GTX iS 260 Limited PWC with Suspension, the Winch worked like a Charm. This Winch will work great to lift up the front of my E120 to either Sharpen or swap out the Blades like you have. Great idea to use a C- Clamp to keep the Blade from Rotating, I had planned on using a sutible length of 2x4 to accomplish this? FYI: I also plan on using my winch as a "Come-A-Long" to pull my 2,000 + Lb Tool Storage Box up a ramp into the back of a Box Truck when I move later this year. Boy you saved me in a pinch 😅 all I had was a couple of tools on me saw this video I was like WTF why did I think of that I was struggling for a good 30 minutes trying to do it just with my hand
Do yourself a big favor and make it much easier, use a cordless impact wrench on that blade bolt, no C clamp needed, no effort. You barely need to hold the blade, just a tip for you and everyone
Not negative. But not everyone has a front end loader. You didn’t use safety glasses. Importantly there was no use of a torque wrench . Dealing with the most dangerous portion of the deck. Thumbs down for now.
Great vid mate thanks. Just so the punters know, you shouldn’t use a ratchet on tight bolts like that. Can destroy ratchet. I personally crack the bolt with a spanner first
Amen true brother. The excavator has been a blessing. The trick was more about using a C clamp to hold the blades in place while you change them out. Gob bless y'all.
Absolutely yes sir. That part was more for entertainment. The possible helpfulness of the video was the C clamp trick. Thanks for the feedback. God bless, brother.
😂 I don't know, Ross, but I can try next time. Seriously though, I just praise God I am still on this earth...even if I unfortunately annoy folks sometimes. God bless y'all!
Now I’m a plumber and have worked in ditches while backhoes operate. But to lay under blades supported by straps on a bucket ..Hell No. Gotta be the dumbest least helpful video I’ve seen.
Bahaha so funny Shiver. 🤣. I have done far more dangerous things than this brother. Laying under a riding mower that is cut off, supported by powerful tow straps and an excavator, all while the mower is supported by a log. Fun day. It may well be the dumbest, least helpful video you've ever seen, but you clearly haven't watched my other dumb videos😂. Seriously though, God bless you brother. Thank Jesus for his safety, and may he be ever glorified!
My brother who lives in town in an apartment, would say the same thing. I live rural and constantly have to come up with unconventional ways to solve problems, I just did something similar to this. I put forks on my tractor, chalked the mowers rear wheels and lifted the front end. Worked great.
lol you could have just dropped the deck. its literally 6 pins. would have been less dangerous, taken less time and you could hit he grease points on top too.
Awesome, just bought a backhoe to change my mower blades!
🤣 I ain't mad at you, brother. I can appreciate good humor. God bless!

the C clamp advice saved my day. thank you
You are welcome friend.
Clever idea the C clamp.
I like using my battery powered impact. So much easier than with a ratchet.
That's the way to go for sure. Thanks!
That C clamp was clever. Good tip. :)
Thank you very much 👍
Thanks for the video. Enjoy your mowing!
Thank you, Kenny.

Thank you for your military service and the great video for an old brain learning new things.
Thank you, Amelia! God bless.
Not everyone has a backhoe but A LOTTA people have tractors. Thanks shipmate!
Very true. Thanks too shipmate.
A hoist is a good way to do it, at a cheap cost. I just use a floor jack.

Just take the deck off and use a breaker bar. It's not hard..
C clamp on the deck - good tip, thanks..

the C clamp was a greattt trick
Awesome. Glad it helped.
Is that okay to lift that high if there is gas in the tank?
Definitely not the best option.
Cool way to do it.
Thats exactly how I would've did it. (Already have) :) Have a great weekend, Thumps up from us yall

Thanks, Randy. Yeah I will probably use a winch in the future. My excavator was handy at the time.
Did he just say he doesnt have a lot of resources and then uses “that” to lift the front end of a little lawnmower? WTF?
🤣 can't argue with you. I did say and do all that. God bless jaceski.
You didn’t explain how to not put the blade on upside down. People are watching this because they’ve never done it before.
You literally put it on the way it came off. It’s not that hard of a concept 😂
Sorry, I am not very skilled at teaching apparently.

Step 1: Own a backhoe
Haha yeah that is definitely helpful. It's an excavator, but same outcome.

TOP VIDEO & JOB FELLA i JUST DID MINE!! D170
Awesome. And thanks, brother.
Should the 2 blades be installed parallel? Or do the blade positions matter at all?
This helped a ton. Thanks
Awesome! And thank you.
C clamp is a boss move
Thank y'all! 👊
like shooting fish in a barrel! nice but i expected impact wrench and anti siez, however its spelled
Yeah that sure would have worked better. Thanks.
Now I have to buy a excavator to change a lawn mower blade? Ain't going to happen.
😂 yeah brother that would be some expensive maintenance.
🤣@@carolinahillcountry
Th c-clamp damn i wish i tried that today.... i stuggled doing this with a 2x4
Yeah man it worked for me. Always next time. Thank you.
C clamps: As soon as I saw that 👍. Literally looking for something besides a 2x4 with a notch. Which works. But not always thx

That’s not a front end loader lol
Mans mowing straight dirt
And that's how we do it round here 😁

Thank you, James. Good advice, brother.
Will it work without the excavator?
Yes but not as fun LOL. Just need a winch to pull up the front end or a ramp to drive up on maybe so to get under it.
C-clamp idea was a great help. Music was horrible. Usual suggestion is lift from back. Now to hire an excavator.
Haha thank you 👍
North Carolina? If so what part? I’m from Seven Springs.
Sorry if I haven't replied. Randolph County brother.
I use a mojack and a cordless impact wrench 🤷🏻♂️
That certainly works too.
12-6&3-9 blade set
Love your boots. Gotta lotta snakes on your place do you?

I love the black snakes, King snakes, etc. I just don't care to step on a timber rattler or copperhead 😂. Thanks, OURv
More than one way to skin a cat for sure. Hard to beat hydraulics.
Yep made it faster and easier.
Whatever are you mowing? Dirt?
Haha mostly dirt and a little weeds.
Is it reverse to loosen or normally lefty loosie?
yeah leftie loosie righty tight 👍
John Deere hates this one easy trick, use a $15,000 mini ex

As an alternative to the excavator you could use rope, a truck and a sturdy tree limb. Results may vary, safety is speculative.
Haha. Those are good methods. Thanks 👍 and God bless, Scott.
Don't have ramps or a jack? No problem, just grab your excavator
Yeah let me spend 45k on an excavator to change my Johnny blades….
Yeah just one of the many benefits of that mini x brother.
@@codystepanian9558 Thank God I didn't spend anywhere close to that. But you are right, if I bought it today that would be the cost.
What size socket is it?
Sorry just saw this. The size of the socket really depends on the mower.
So they don’t hit each other
Mine do not. They should not touch. Keep in mind I am not an expert. They come close but don't hit each other. God bless.
Ok, so to change my blades I need to buy an excavator?
lol pretty much Tonki Honks. It was probably half "how to" and half fun entertainment. Thanks and God bless.
