I love the OST for Chandelier. For me, it exemplifies the tragedy that is Estovakia. The Estovakians at Chandelier are under no illusions that they are going to survive. This is their last stand, but there is no triumph, only grim resignation
I have Chandelier and Pixy's boss fights in a special place in my heart for some reasons: While Chandelier is a upgraded version of Megalith mixed with Stonehenge, the soundtrack combined with the whole story about the comflict, really makes it look like a very sad outcome, you are not in some sort of epic last mission battle in order to save the world and beat the bad guys, is just the inevitable fate that the Ulysses disaster brought to Strangereal, the whole planet got scarred by it and millions of lives where lost in both the disaster and the comflicts that came afterwards, you can see the consequences and it feels overwhelming. Zero probabbly has the most human character of all AC franchise, Larry Folke, we see him as your wingman from the beginning, both being just regular mercenaries fighting for money and reputation, although, as the war progresses, we can see the change that the comflict is doing to Pixy, is not up to Mayhem mission where we see how the personality of Pixy has changed and is in Inferno mission where he had enought of the comflict, defecting to AWWNB, determinated to end the comflict by any means nescesary, after the whole comflict and some years later, we find a jaded Larry, living the rest of his life in shame and regret for the things he did, as he makes one of the most amazing dialogues i have heard in videogames, which is what makes him so likeable and you can understand his point of view.
This list is spot on amazing choices. Ace 6 the final mission was insane, Megalith i unfortunately never played sorry , Zero the fight with Pixy was unforgettable even now the conclusion to the rivalry perfect which the music complements so well , Ace 7 the music as you take off got me so pumped and the music later made the victory more epic and finally Ace 5 that mission still is one of the reasons its one of my favourite gamew still to this day.
I know it's not technically a final mission but the most intense and my favourite mission was Ten Million Relief Plan. - The buildup as we search for the Alicorn - the moment it surfaces - the fight itself, which is super hard - the fake surrender - AND then that *mother-f-ing* Final Phase! (complete with Torres' mental breakdown) Everything was pure bliss for me.
Great list, along with the conclusion of the story, the soundtrack is the most striking thing of an Ace Combat ending... My top 5 are: Ace 3's UPEO + Secret ending, Ace 6, 5, 0 and Ace 7
I may not have a top 5 but i can tell you that operation hush in Ac7 is my alltime favorite video game OST, especially when the choir kicks in, it gives you a sense that ""youre saving the world""
5's final mission(s) kind of hit a somewhat sore spot due to showcasing noticeable problems with the pacing, with the first part essentially being one long waiting game out of your control with some targets (escalates to not enough at a certain level of skill) and the second part being yet another long waiting game where all you have to shoot at is 8 piles of XLAA bait and optionally a MiG 1.44 until you wait for a target that doesn't exactly shoot back but at least you can fly through the barrel or stack LAGMs/SODs one on top of another for an incredibly powerful TLS-tier alpha strike. Dying in either kills a couple minutes of progress, especially the first part where the cranes slap you in the face. On an unrelated note Chandelier in 6 is not just massive and imposing, but the entire platform is littered with AA guns and SAMs while also having Strigons in the mix. Should you miss a Stauros shell you witness that enormous cannon firing, with a blinding muzzle flash. Its stage presence at this point is pretty much on the same level as Megalith, though maybe the song isn't as intimidating. For me two of my favorite final missions are in the General Resource route of AC 3, followed by Zero then Megalith and finally ending with AC 2's final secret mission. Keep in mind that this is more from a gameplay-oriented side.
Zero have One of the most memorable fights! Hard battle and same time, was so enjoyable with amazing soundtrack “Flamenco Style” The conclusion makes me remember the emotion when i watch Top Gun for The first time.
Chandiler also has some massive narrative weight to it considering how it all sort of build up to this, throughout the entire game you come back from the brink of defeat, you barely hold against an overwhelming enemy force and push them back through some of the most devastating battles ever You make alot of freinds and allys, just 2 missions earlier you thought the war was finished, you just beat back the enemy from the capital in possibly one of the best large scale battles in ace combat history The next mission you get a kinda obvious but still kinds fuckjng heart wrenching reveal and when you go to fight chandiler, with all the aces who had thus far flown with you nearly every single mission to fight back this enemy you are fighting for everything you've ever known and loved, you are fighting for the people at home who you just beat an entire army to save from occupation and now you have to save them one last time Its brilliantly done and that sound track While not bombastic it doesnt need to be and that beuatiful somber piece just works brilliantly with the story being told Seriously if you can get an 360 or Xbox 1 and play ace combat 6,it is legitimately outstanding Edit: I almost forgot to mention one of the coolest parts The cutscene right before the enemy officer you've also been following the story of the entire campaign comes to this beautiful end where he goes against his country, against everything to save these people he has come to know and love Its great

As a person who grew up with AC6 it is a bloody brilliant mission. Other than the last part, the AA's turrets on Ace's of ace's mode wipe your health quicker than a EML, but other than that, it's amazing
My fave final mission is from AC5. The one from AC4 didn't do much for me because they didn't properly explain what the Megalith was so I didn't have enough context to truly care.
Chandelier was a pretty good final mission. I bought a 360 just to play it. So one of the reasons why it was so riveting was because every so often you’d have to stop attacking the important targets and destroy a nuclear payload that was being loaded into the canon. It was a very obscure target that didn’t stay on screen for very long and it wasn’t a priority target. But if you miss one with in the dialogue as the game plays, you hear radio chatter that a city was decimated if you didn’t destroy one before it was loaded.
absolutely love the list and the affection AC community shows. I would probably place ac0 above ac7 in terms of last missions but that's probably because ac0 was my first ac game and I am probably biased towards it.
AC3 was my first game and I played every bit of the dog shit out of it but AC4 was the most nostalgic to me because my dad and I took turns beating it. My dad was a mechanic in the Air Force and so listening to him be blown away by how realistic everything in the game was and how unrealistic and almost hilarious the mission situations were were some of my cherished childhood moments
