One additional thing I do to keep them from sticking to my hands is to rub my hands with a little bit of lotion and rub it in really well. I had a kit that was so staticky that when I would try to throw the bags into the garbage can, they would jump right back out. It was actually hilarious. LOL.
I can imagine! 😂
Bless you for keeping on! Static is a pain!
It is! But it’s cute kit and I wanted to work on it!
Hello. I am from Canada and my birth animal is a ram. Love your whip and chats as well as your box openings.
I have done many DAC kits and have never had any problems getting the number stickers off my large tic tac containers
Good to know!!

I recall someone saying she always lotions her hands before kitting up...no excess on her hands. Another video I watched recently she had a humidifier in the room she was kitting up in and just held opened bag over humidifier which seemed to work!
I may try the humidifier if I run into this again - I’ve tried lotion on my hands before, and it didn’t seem to make a difference. Maybe the kind of lotion matters?
Thats Joan Diamond Paints - she also will put a drop of water/alcohol mixture in the drills - it works :)
Did you get flower crazy from DAC yet because it is back in stock 🤭
@@0523SHARON I did - I finished and framed her late last year!
I have tried every method recommended to deal with static, and each has worked "sometimes" or "a bit," but nothing has worked perfectly every time. And YES, I HATE IT!!! You exhibited a great deal of patience. I am impressed.
So many people recommend the dryer sheets, but the only thing I've found that works consistently is the static guard spray. Works for me every time!! Thanks for watching!!
I’m kitting up Lost Oasis-68 colors of DAC with tons of static as I watch you- so glad to commiserate and get ready for a rewarding start to painting once it’s done…phew😅
@@0523SHARON Static is the worst!!
I always use a square of dryer sheet and a pair of the tweezers. I stir it around in the bag of drill and up against all the sides of the bags. That seems to help me a lot. I think of the static as “rubber bands” and the dryer sheet and tweezers are snapping them. ❤
Tweezers would probably have worked better than my fingers!
Try alcohol...i use the little alcohol pads...use them the same way as you would use dryer sheets. or swishing a q-tip with alcohol on it inside the bags....🙂
Thanks for watching!!
Hi, I am a teacher too, English, Dutch and German, and like you, heavily addicted to the craft (and spent an incredible amount of money, so far).
My biggest frustration was an expensive Diamond Dotz kit, "Girls at the piano", 50+ colours and soooooooo static! If it had not been so beautiful (and expensive) I would have thrown it away!!
I only had the small TicTac boxes to kit up in, by that time, nothing worked, I nearly went mad. Kudos for your patience here!
Love from the Netherlands, Willeke
Static is such a pain!! Thanks for watching!!
I put a dryer sheets in the bottel
I’ve done that too, but this was some crazy static!!
@@DiamondPaintingAnonymous very bad static
For static I blow lightly in the bag and that helps me.ya very frustrating.ive washed them but alot of work .I wash my crystals for cleaning off the powder from the trays they use in china
Yeah, washing them was not option I wanted to try. Thanks for watching!!
I have had that also. Very frustrating. I pour them onto a dryer sheet then pour them into the container. Also have a snip of dryer sheet into the container. That will help, hopefully for you.
I’ve heard spraying them lightly with water helps.
I have tried the dryer sheets but this static was crazy!
@@Susansinksanddrills I haven’t tried that because it thought it would be too messy!
I take a qtip and dip it in alcohol then rub it around in the drills. Since it drys really fast your drills don’t stay wet. It works better than dryer sheets for me and a lot less work. I have a small container with alcohol that I keep with my supplies.
I will havre to try that!!
Try alcohol wipes! Just smudge a little alcohol on the inside of the bag or container and shake, it works out the best for me
Someone else suggested alcohol - I will give it a try next time!!
Omg I feel ya Mt last kit up was static cat tastrophy nothing worked I did dryer sheets n still made a bug mess.
It is the worst static I’ve ever had, but at least now I know how to deal with it!! Thanks for watching!!
For the price you pay for these kits it would be nice if the bags were at least zip bags. Never mind that the static is insane sometimes.
Some kits do have zipper bags, but even those can have static. It was the worst I’ve ever had, but at least I got it done!!
Have you tried breathing on them. I heard someone mentioned that so I tried it as I was desperate and I found it certainly helped a lot. I was nicely surprised.
Yep! Didn’t work - even my static guard didn’t work!!
I pour the drills directly on a dryer sheet and rub them between 2 dryer sheets
I’ve done that too!
Try wiping your tray down with a dryer sheet
I did that - still very static-y!! I had drills jumping all over the place!! 😁
The static has been driving me nuts!
Me too!!

gotta put a piece of dryer sheet in the bag and shift the drills around before even attempting to pour them out. Then pour onto a dryer sheet and make sure every drill touches the sheet on both sides. 1-2 punch should do it.
Every winter comes around and we wonder where the static is coming from. Lol Try a cool mist humidifier right by where you are working.
I also wonder if the equipment for the new drills at the factory has anything to do with all the static? I don't know if the little pin holes are still in DAC bags?
I did not think to check for the pin holes. If I come across another kit with bad static, I’ll try and remember to check. I wondered if part of it was winter/indoor heating, but I don’t generally unbox/open a kit until I’m ready to work on it, so I’m not sure. But I’m glad I got it done!!
@@DiamondPaintingAnonymous I had one that was just as bad and believe me I feel your pain!! Thanks for the great content!
Hi Daphne. I know you’ve been talking about wanting the Oraloa Canada kit for a while now. Even though their website says it’s sold out or out of stock, have you reached out to them and asked if they had any in reserve? About four years ago, I was browsing for canvases,(I am not 100% sure, but I think it was the Heartful Diamonds website), and I found a canvas that I just had to have. You know how sometimes the image just speaks to you? That’s how it was when I saw this one. Well, I put it in my cart in the morning and then went about my day and never went back to looking at the website until late in the evening. And when I did, it said it was now out of stock! I was so upset. I kept checking back for over a month to see if it ever came back into stock, and it never did. So, I figured it was worth a shot and I emailed the company’s customer service and mentioned that I really, really wanted that canvas and I had been waiting for it to come back into stock and was curious if it was ever going to. They reached out to me within hours and said that they didn’t have plans for restocking it, but that they did have some in reserve and that they always keep a handful in case they’re requested. I was able to order it through the customer service right then and there and it’s now hanging on my bedroom wall and it’s my very favorite diamond painting that I’ve ever done. It’s called the Sorrowful Angel and I just think it’s beautiful. I just thought I’d make a suggestion because it might be worth a try in case they do have some in reserve to sell you. Good luck. I hope you get it.
Oh, I didn’t know that - I will reach out and ask!!!
I’ve heard that recently people have been having issues wit DAC drills having static. IDK when you bought your kit so I don’t know if it even matters. You did great. I was getting frustrated watching you.
It was a newer kit (was a new release a few months ago, I think). But it’s honestly the worst static I’ve had with any kit - not sure of the cause, but at least I made it through!!
The freezer/refrigerator has worked wonders for me as long as I remember to put my drills in the night before i intend to use them. I tried it after I had a day like you're having! Drills all over my fingers, inside, outside containers, couldn't get out of bags! It was awful! So after finally getting my kitting up done....fortunately a small kit, I tried the freezer method and I'm doing well since. But obviously it doesn't work for all.
Even if it didn’t work for me, at least there are several solutions for us to try!!
This is what works best for me! Dip your qtip in rubbing alcohol instead of the static guard. Swirl the qtip in your bags & or your drill containers. It’s works way better then static guard. I also wipe my trays down with rubbing alcohol too. But I have noticed weather does seem to play a huge part in the static issues. But I feel your pain as I listen to you 😉
I’m going to try the alcohol - my drills are full of static after flying home with them!!
The alcohol dampen swab works well. It will get it. Not wet, damp, and swipe in bag. Hope the kit eases some of your pain and suffering. Peace and love abide with you.💕
I will have to try it!!
I would have given up with that much static. How absolutely frustrating. I have noticed some companies packaging seems to have a lot of static and I really really really need to like the artwork to even put up with it
I wanted to!! But it’s a cute kit and I wanted it kitted up so I could work on it!!
Hi Daphne! I just checked, and it looks like Flower Crazy is back in stock! Hope you can snag it! Mrs. Coffee uses a coin to get rid of static. She puts it in the plastic, after she puts the drills in and then shakes the container.
I did snag it! I’ve not heard of the coin trick, I’ll have to try it!!
I spray rubbing alcohol in the bags before pouring them in the storage containers. Then I take a small square of dryer sheet and put in the container with the drills. I put lotion on my hands to catch the flyaway drills on my table.
I’ve not tried rubbing alcohol before - I’ll remember that for next time!!
Rubbing alcohol on a q-tip or in a fine mist bottle, to either dab in the drill bag itself with the q-tip or lightly spray over the open drill bag and then close and shake the bag. Also cutting a piece of dryer sheet small enough to put into the drill bag and then shake it around.
I tried the dryer sheet but haven’t tried the rubbing alcohol. That’s a new one for me!
Wonderful to know there's another solution! Glad you made it through!!!
It was painful, but I made it!!
If I have a particularly bad kit, I rub the bag down with the dryer sheet first, then I pour the drills directly into a dryer sheet and squeeze them around for a bit before I pour them into the bottle or tray. Usually works for me, at least most of the time.

I have seen quite a few people with the static this intense. It is a bummer, but glad you made it through. 🙂
Oh my gosh, I wouldn’t wish that static on anyone! Thanks for watching!!
Question, do you use a new dryer sheet or a used one? I’ve always wondered which to use. Have a great weekend. 😃
New - although it works better if you pour the drills out into the sheet. The more contact, the less static.
