As a newbie who is trying to learn my way around a 404 I can honestly say I appreciate how much effort has gone into this even for someone who it is probably second nature to them now 😂
Absolutely wonderful. Love and have the Sp404 and the newest one mk2 and plan to join them together. This is how it is done. Of course, the machines are not enough - applause to master Foliagebeats...👏👏👏
where did that kick come from, the track that starts around @1:50 or more like 3:04 i guess its clearer? thats amazing. sounds crazy compressed but also like maybe it was synthesized from a pinged phaser or a serge vcfq or something. super bubbly but muffled and punchy. all of the percussive textures in that set are incredible but i need to know what that kick is
Phenominal Swag and lovely Live SEt! Used to mess with these puppies at Sam-Ash when I worked there...appreciate you taking us to Tartaria and back....feel like I teleported between continents. Keep it poppin homeskilletZ!!!!!🙂
@@foliagebeats dope, such a cool city. My wife and I love going to Astoria. Also love hitting up Lardo in Portland. Fucking BEST sandwiches around!! Fire beats bro!!
@@foliagebeats I figured that. Have you used he DJ mode on the mk2? Do you think it's better that way, or do you think your method is more effective overall? It might be better both ways. But strangely they're aren't too many videos on the old school way of djing with a 404. All I know is the process is press pad, hold, use fx and interludes to transition, repeat.
@@foliagebeats From what I can see (im not a seasoned pro like you). I own the mk2, and it's a lot more in depth. It might take some time to really get into it, but its a workhorse. I think the new DJ mode allows you to not have to use two 404s and gives you the option to use one shots and also fade in and out and audition samples so you don't have to memorize everything. But as I said in the previous comments, you might like the oldschool method, because it seems better for live performances in general, like ableton style performances. But you be the judge.
I always wonder how people set up sets with their 404s. You got like entire beats on one pad on one 404 ? Or you triggering loops on time ? Either way very cool
I have a few different styles of setting them up, but for live performance I'll typically have a whole beat per pad in the SX, running through the OG for compression and mutes
Just press “play” basically… I own a bunch of sequencers like this, building the jams is cool and takes talent, but in the end, you just press play and let it go while adding “spice” and effects, and filtering…. 😂it has to be real 🔥 to impress me and this is really mid.
People who've never used an sp404 cannot see the hard work hes put into the production and then play it live ..GOAT

Teach me how to make beats haha
What is the basic method for djing with one? I have heard that you play interludes and use fx to transition. What is your method?
Pretty much this. Maybe some echo at the end of one beat while another fades in
