    Quick question Chris: is it normal for the brake pads to rub gently against the disc all the time, or if i spin the wheel should it spin without any part of the pad/ disc making contact? Cheers

    • @baldvale5418
      @baldvale5418 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No it's not normal as this will make your disc very warm or hot after a few miles, the best way to check it to see if it's getting hot is find a safe place to park and spit on the disc, if it bubble's and steams then it is rubbing and it needs to be repaired.
      when you spin the wheel the pad should not rub at all.

      bald vale is right they shouldn't rub this is usually a sign you calliper is seized and needs to be sorted

      @@Ridingreviews thank you both. I’’ve seen conflicting advice on the interweb. Some say it’s normal too. They are warm after riding, but not hot that you can’t touch them. I cleaned the calipers with cleaner, but my knowledge stops there. I have a sinnis terrain ( french version), so the brakes are not adjustable. How would you fix it? Cheers!

    Great video. But unfortunately you need the tools to do this. Good to see you struggling and showing how difficult it is instead of doing some TV magic. Same lack of kit is holding me from having a go at a restauration

      this isn't a job i would suggest you do it is a lot easier to get it done by a machine and less likely to mark your rim a simple set of spanners and a couple of screwdrivers and some wd40 you can sort most things

    Hi mate, I’m sitting my CBT at the end of the month, however finding a 125 is like catching gold dust at the minute.
    As you can imagine, money is on the tighter side. Any recommendations of new/used bikes that are relatively inexpensive and plentiful?
    I’ve looked almost everywhere, any advice is appreciated.
    Thanks I’m advance

    Great vid even by your high standards. A job beyond my tiny brain and feeble body.
    I presume normal car "quick tyre" places aren't happy taking wheels off bikes or am I wrong?
    I was thinking of getting my local bike mechanic to take the wheels off. Then getting the specialist car tyre place to fit the tyres.
    Does this make sense?

    • @Ridingreviews
      @Ridingreviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The peoblem is ushall getting a rear wheel of a bike isnt as straight forward astaking a car wheel off and a scooter one is 5 times harder than taking a bike tyre off also a car tyre machine is different to a bike one you need adapters to make it work

    If you drill a 10mm hole in each tread groove, it's much easier to take the tyre off and put back on

    • @Ridingreviews
      @Ridingreviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      but then you would have 2 10mm holes in your new tyre
