Patents are not necessarily relevant to climate change. What are they patents for? (My father held a patent also. It was on the processing of sesame seeds. Did that make him a specialist on climate change?) And Kerry didn't come up with the facts himself. He is relying on information from climate scientists with Ph.D.s who have devoted their lives to the study of climate. That is the crucial point. And what is in it for Republicans to deny global warming? Oh yeah--it might hurt the oil industry (i.e. BIG MONEY). It's a conflict of interest. Massie's science questions (not the political science ones, which were unnecessary) were the kind of questions Mr. Kerry should have been asking the scientists advising him. Anybody leading scientific endeavors or most anything else needs to know a good deal of the subject matter, in order to evaluate truth, fiction, and oversights. But he can't; he doesn't have the relevant education. Massie displayed good Socratic questioning. This is essential when trillions of funding are at stake. The Press doesn't do it, as they should. It takes education in thermodynamics, radiative heat transfer, differential equations, and a bit of quantum mechanics to understand greenhouse gas behavior. This is part of top mechanical engineering curricula. Unfortunately, very few in our society have this background and hence can fall under the spell of spin masters if not skeptical.
Yeah, an emotional one. As a farmer we raise 5 ton per acre in crops. Those crops are made up of sugars, proteins and carbohydrates. Those are all compounds that include carbon. That carbon is literally pulled out of the air. I believe that there are cities where the emit a concentration of co2 more than they produce but in the country, our emissions are a fraction of what we put out. As a farmer, I shouldn’t be charged a carbon fee. The co2 from crops isn't a sustainable way to harvest co2 from the atmosphere, unless new forms of regenerative farming techniques are used (which most farmers don't). This is unlike the growing of trees for lumber or other plants (like bamboo), where the resultant crop's co2 isn't released during consumption, making it a sustainable way to harvest co2. The co2 is trapped in the lumber until it is either burnt or decays. The co2 in food crops is released, including in the form of other damaging gases like methane (ie. when consumed by farm animals).

This is unlike the growing of trees for lumber or other plants (like bamboo), where the resultant crop's co2 isn't released during consumption, making it a sustainable way to harvest co2.
The co2 is trapped in the lumber until it is either burnt or decays.

“Racism” is a business.
Two issues those who claim to fight never want to solve. They would be unemployed.
When interviewed about his Jet, Kerry said he was taking Zodiac boats from now on.
Massie’s hair is some serious pseudo science.
We basically live in an idiocracy. Thanks Trumpsters.
That man is my representative. And even as a republican I am so dissapointed to say that.
Then maybe the modern republican party doesn't deserve your support
@@dannykuhrt9144 you don’t know anything about massie if you believe he’s a “modern” republican
@@jamescliff8038 he seems to be in the same ignorant mold as trump, the most modern republican president, and the same ineffective mold as McConnell, the Republican senate leader. The republican party once had Lincoln, but now has fools
@@dannykuhrt9144 it looks like you don’t know absolutely anything about politics if you use the name Mitch McConnell and modern in the same sentence, or if you think that even half of the Republican Party in congress thinks highly of trump. Some of them defending him on tv isn’t praise it’s politics. You don’t bash the president of your own party, democrat or republican you should know that.
@@jamescliff8038 the Republican senate has supported Trump in office in their votes!!! Your most senior congressman has supported Trump. The Republican Party has campaigned for Trump. Its absurd to separate Trump and the Republicans. Trump is the Republicans fault!
This was painful to watch. I feel sorry for America and its education system.
Thnaks NBC for letting out the TRUTH
As someone is from Kentucky this really just upsets me. I don’t understand how we vote in idiots. 😐
If you fail to vote then this what you get. This guy is an absolute moron. No doubt he has said stupid things at campaign rallies. Know your candidates.
@@briansmith4694 I live in his district and have my whole life, I would vote in a rock before him and I say that as a republican, but in terms of options there’s been very few people who challenged him and none with any political footing so sadly we’re stuck with him.
@@jamescliff8038 I appreciate the response. Out of curiosity was there a Democratic challenger this time. If so what could he/she have campaigned on to sure your vote if you didn't vote for them. BTW can you define conservative values now. Since these past 4 years have just put the GOP in turmoil.
@@briansmith4694 there was one woman and I’m very politically active and I don’t even know what she looks like or anything about her besides maybe 2 signs I’ve seen. She got my vote but sadly the average person in the district knew even less than I did so of course in today’s world she had no chance and our district is right below Cincinnati so it’s more left then you’d think for Kentucky, to put in it context Hillary almost won here and that’s saying a lot that she was even close (she won in my county). And I consider myself conservative but I don’t lump myself into the republican establishment today the same as I wouldn’t with the opposing party. Im for bipartisanship and unity above all policy and both party’s are making a mockery of the idea.
@@briansmith4694 I wish I could answer your question but I like to identify through my own personal values opposed to a group of my people with very distinct differences to me. I believe we spend too much time debating on which side does what and we should instead focus on the individual and compromise so we can stop all the hatred. I can tell you that Amy McGrath (Mitch McConnells challenger) put up the greatest campaign I ever seen. She sent hand written notes to all residents, endless commercials, rallies everywhere, volunteers on almost every block it felt like and out raised him by a largeeee margin and he barely even made an appearance in Kentucky during the campaign and I can only remember a single commercial I saw his campaign put out and he still won handily. Our politics in the commonwealth are a joke.
Look at all the comments below that missed his points. Don’t just listen to it, look at its background and then really listen to what Massie says. Kerry is a typical lying Democrat.
Wow wow wow my family just decided we are not BUYING Heinz ketchup nor any other products from Heinz
What happened
How is it possible that this guy went to MIT?
A guy with a private jet and three mansions that rides around with a gas guzzling limousine is telling me, I need to ride a bike or take the bus. A aerial photo of his homes show’s no solar panels….
The problem is that when you are dealing with somebody who isnt educated and doesnt care about the science of it they have too many objections to have the answer in your back pocket to... especially because you should never never have to expect to be questioned on something like this with somebody who didnt do at least a little research. How did you get to 2000 without humans? Did geology stop? Like seriously, how are you asking these questions as somebody this high up in leadership and you didnt even have an assistant double check these things. There are answers to these questions, and he is wasting the worlds time by asking john kerry for those answers. What do we actually pay these people for?
dude has a masters in science from MIT LOL... "uneducated". also built his own, self sustaining power grid for his house. check it out.
Yeah you have no clue what your talking about . Massie is the greenest member of congress and Thomas massie has also done more for green energy than Kerry has ever done .
No, he's exposing Kerry as a traitor pushing a global scam. Maybe you should check the science.
@@XXBearXJewXx You don't need a degree to know a global scam when you see one.
How do you know he didn't have an assistant check his equations? Amazing. Maybe he checked them himself. Ridiculous assertion.
