Powerful and precise form performance He looks to have developed his own way of performing this form, which is to be expected by advanced and very experienced Taiji players. However, it has many of the hallmarks of master Chen Xiaowang. I'm still learning the Chen 18 form, but I usually prefer practising the CMC 37 or 108 forms. Chen style has some unique features, but in essence I believe all Taiji forms adhere to the same principles. Perhaps the differences that are visible are more due to the individual player or the particular emphasis of their form.
In CMC form there are 37 and 47 short form variations, but they differ only very slightly, although both derive from Yang Chengfu long form.
The differences in movements between Chen 19 and Chen 18 forms are much more noticeable, they both seem to distill different essences from the old frame Chen forms, at least that's as much as I can discern from watching examples on TH-cam. I don't have first hand knowledge to really understand, so if anyone can help explain then that would be great.

With all respect there is no Lou Reed Taichi. Yeah he used different styles and came to Chen Taiji through Jan Silberstorf Germany. then he was in Chenjiagou. I saw him there. RIP of his energy and soul, he was a a great man ,after drugs, Alkohol and all this years of party....

It was created by Chen Xiaowang. The only difference between a new form and a traditional form is time.

@@KenGullette it's a common fact that 18 fist is the only version. Not 19 fist. Stop lying to yourself. I already saw exactly why this is 19. He copies one set twice. Original its not there.
If you don't believe me you can check my teacher who is from henan and his teacher (father) lived in Chen village for many years.

@@5324TuiG The Chen 18 is Chen Zhenglei's form. The Chen 19 is Chen Xiaowang's form. I have learned them both from Chen Xiaowang and from Zhenglei's niece, Huixian. So no, I don't believe you. Another armchair warrior.
