Finally, someone with useful advice. I just picked up a 2014 Magnavox TV today, with a big hole in the screen. Plugged it in, it works. Picked it up on a whim. I see I can get $25-40 for the main board on eBay. Thanks!
Couple of problems on selling the boards.
With a plasma set, if it was physically broken while operating, the electrodes inside the screen will contact each other, and take out the Y buffer, Y sustain, and Z sustain board in the process.
If the screen on a plasma cracked due to thermal stress, then the likely cause of that thermal stress was a failure of the Y sustain board, which took out a buffer chip, and that resulted in an arc over and thermal shock that cracked the screen.
LCD you are fine, as there are no high voltages in an LCD, but dumping your dead plasma boards on someone else is uncool.
12voltvids I hope the fracture I found on my 55"-er was not done while it powered-on while it was still with the company I bought it from, or with the courier. The boards should still be good, and I expect to get a full refund from the company. Thanks for pointing that out.
Darrell Patterson No problem. I have purchased a few replacement boards from shopjimmy that were pulled from recycled sets and sold without testing only to find that they had problems. I had a set with a bad upper buffer chip that caused a dead set, the replacement board had a blown bottom buffer, so this does happen, but at least they are making good and sending me another one. In my case it has a cracked screen from a Y sustain failure that took out the buffer, and cracked the screen internal, but it will still work, with a lovely crack that you can't see from a distance, but you can close up, and a nice black spot where the phosphor burned during the component failure event.
12voltvids Correct about the cracked screen you can't see from a distance. I would have sent it back had I noticed before signing. Shame it wasn't carried in a ATA 300 specific case, or similar for the delivery - I would not need to keep the case.
Thank goodness I didn't turn it on to see if it still worked after watching the Aussie50 video on screen burn. A similar thing may have happened with the remote chance some combustion - maybe a pop, maybe worse.
That's the risk that the systems can carry when they are recycled but the 55"-er's should still function with other P55XHA3ES or similar.
That's amazing if you don't mind the screen looking like that, but mine was intended not just for myself.

**Anyone with a broken LCD or LED panel** It is easy.. works on 2009-2016 Samsung, LG, Vizio and Panasonics. I have not tested every brand but it should be similar. 1) Unplug the TV. 2) Go to the paint department at home depot - ask for "Everclear LCD silicone blend 1080. The 720 can be a little cloudy and really shows in the sun. 3) Make a Circle around the crack ALL THE WAY AROUND and encompassing all defects. (There cannot be any gaps) 4) Glop that all around the inside of your circle; we will scrape that off later with a razor. Comment if you want more info..

Sorry if this is a stupid question but, let's say I'm trying to sell the main logic board of my tv. Would I need to include the screws and wires that were attached to it, or can I just sell the board by itself. I ask cause, in the event that I lose a screw or break a wire, am I still able to sell the part?
I've heard a lot stupider in terms of LED dismemberment because it's extremely easy to misinterpret the exact proportion of board to disassemble due to rarely finding exact make and model video tutorials. A lot of he/she said that "We" in the business refer to ass Mental" Disregardation". You didn't hear that from me though. I just work here. But to answer your question. If you get really wired and loose your nuts and bolt, your screwed unless given a receipt for the trans action. Google Eddie Murphy Trans Action for more info.

Hello, a cracked screen unfortunately means the TV is broken for good, it's cheaper to buy a new TV then to try to find a new screen panel on eBay etc. If it turns on but just has a broken cracked screen, then you could sell all the main parts inside, main board, power supply speakers etc, even the TV stand goes for good money on eBay. All you have to do is type in eBay search bar your model TV and click on parts to see what others are selling for and match their prices or go a little under theirs and you'll sell the parts.

You need to check it inside; might need to replace few capacitors, cheap and easy to fix. Usually cheap models have low-end low-life components, but it's worth a try.
Tot cracked LED screen, I think he hit it with plastic hammer. Can get audio but the screen is completely dark unlike what I see in the video. Do I have a different problem or just more severe...with same solution, a new screen.

Thanks for the video which I found informative. I always endeavor to see things in the positive way and i'm sure there's always a negative, no argument there. Other people's trash are other people's treasure. My gray matter is a treasure so it must be used and also there is that thing called "common sense" which may not be common, I give you that. What you should of done is made a video on selling the whole tv to someone who knows what they are doing and testing. not any joe blow can do this other wise people are going to put broken parts up on ebay with out knowing how to test them.

A replacement display is hard to find and very expensive. You should look for someone with good and reliable experience. If you're willing to spend upto 80% of its initial price, your best try is at the store you bought it. At least they can tell you where they send that model for repairs under warranty, where it might be in stock.
I can only advise to get extended warranty on your next purchase, or some kind of insurance which covers any mishaps.

Are you sure these boards are good???? If you do not have a Picture, you may not know that there are other problems with the TV. Selling these boards without testing them is unfair to those purchasing because you're telling them that these are working Boards! If you have a timing control board (TCON) issue you may not know that without the board being tested. Anytime the screen is broken, there could be other problems with the TV because of the force of damage. Selling the boards without being tested is deceitful!

What if the tv doesn't come on
you will be lucky if you get 50 dollar on any of those boards, most will sell for 26 and you have to pay shipping, speakers and cables do not sell at all, ever, why? because they never break, the only thing you can sell is the power board, not the logic board bec you have to test it in every way to see that works and since the screen is broken, there is not way to see that
It would be safe to assume everything else is OK if only the display is cracked and it powes on showing image on the area without cracks.
It may be better to sell cheaper and more, perhaps your local post has discounted plans for long term deals.
well said, so many people are recycling TVs the market is flooded with parts thus the low prices on parts. If anyone decides to sell, I would suggest anywhere but EBay!
