So underrated this band. Never got their due. Made fun of - and they deserve much much more recognition.
Anthony V. They won a Grammy and have sold over 100mil records and are still performing today, I don’t think that’s underrated at all. I don’t remember them being made fun of but even if they were, all sorts of famous people are made fun of everyday, it comes with being famous But there was a D J that started an anti disco movement
Agree completely. They were indeed made fun of routinely by hard rockers, the zeppelin lovers, using critics, etc, as being light and not real music. As these people have matured and realized they had a stick or their heads up their asses, they’ve realized the greatness in music like this.
Mi
Music critics.
@@shanedesselle2590 I feel better about myself, because my first favorite bands were KC, LZ, then VH!! Still love them all!!
I think the fun being made was just a product of the Disco era, everyone made fun of disco but all secretly LOVED the disco sound...
Man, KC and the Sunshine Band affects music reactors like nothing else I've seen. The group just makes people happy. Also, as someone who was alive when this song was popular, it made me want to do one of those line-dance Hustles from the mid-seventies that we all used to do (our 5th-grade gym teacher actually taught us how to do it out on the playground during PE).
Roller skating!
Their "Get Down Tonight" and "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty" are next for you!!! These guys were huge 1975-1978
DISCO WILL NEVER DIE!!!!
Your right Asia. We was jamming at the Skating Rink with all KC's songs.
Remember them skating lock ins 🤣😂 those was a blast 🎧💯👍
Yessss! Most definitely at our rink too!
Hell yea!! :)
@@lindajohnson6514 Oh heck yes. Those were so much fun. Some of the best times of my life and some of the best friends I have to this day. Including my husband of almost 30 yrs.
❤
This was my favorite song as a kid in the 70's. I still jam this song at least a dozen times a day.
I appreciate that you said that you don’t hear this type of fun music nowadays, I was 9 when this came out and yes we did roller skate to it! Glad that I experienced great music growing up, also sad that the last few years it seems the soundtrack to my youth is leaving us at a rapid pass. So many great musicians gone, glad KC is still alive and kicking
When the last of our great musicians leave this earth, a dark cloud will cover the world especially america.
As a 70s Brats i was all ways dancing my ASS OFF LOL ,, We had so many places to dance AND EVERY BODY WAS .. So many great bands and songs we were over spoiled
KC is DISCO! Just fabulous feel good vibe even today ....music you just cant touch, I think I have arthritis today dancing so much to KC music
See how the whole crowd is together all races having a good time The way it was back then. Great times. And music.
I agree with BJ, this kind of music just makes you happy in ways that today's music doesn't. I grew up with KC and The Sunshine Band and all this kind of music in the 70s, and were really were happy listening to the radio!! We were so lucky, we had so much good music of all genres, and we just thought it was normal to be so lucky. Music just doesn't feel like this anymore
I so agree
Exactly, we didn't know how good we had it. It was just a given that music was good, inventive and the norm like you said. Music has morphed into something synthetic and without any soul for the most part.
It was called the Sunshine Band because the band started in Florida, the Sunshine State.
And check out those outfits. Them back up singers putting in their soul voices. Thems were the days!!
I grew up in this era, and Kc and the Sunshine Band were great..Check out the other song titled " I'm your Boogie man", it's a banger too!!!The skating rink was where it was at'' Exile was another great band " Kiss you all over" was a very popular song..
That "I'm your Boogie Man" video with KC doing the introduction for some European music chart is...FYAH!
Easiest version to view on TH-cam with simple search! (Imma go watch it after this reaction!)
as an older man I can safely tell you that KC is one funky dude and has an amazingly energetic band. If you get a chance to see him live do so, he is not young but still has that energy.
I love this song. It is so underrated.
Oh yes, it was so much fun to dance and listen to. Another fun banger of theirs is I AM YOUR BOOGIE MAN, back in the day boogie generally meant to dance and get moving
I think my fav is "Get Down Tonight"... they are so fun to watch. I also like "Please Don't Go"
Yeah, I just went and watched the video. You really gotta watch Get Down Tonight live version. You will LOVE it
Yes. Get Down Tonight. Music that was actually fun back in the day. I sure hope they react to this one.
1970,s. Certainly some of the best music ever created n some of the best party times also
The movie Saturday Night Fever really took disco music to the next level. I loved going to the discotheque on Friday and Saturday night. So much great music to dance to.
😂😂hahaha right from the get go....and 💥boom you in the groove!!!! As it should be. It just makes u feel soooooo gooood😂lol
This group is one of many that gave us music gold in the seventies.
Wow... this song gives me flashbacks of Friday night at the disco, bell bottom jeans and platform shoes. Been a long time since I've heard this song. Thanks for the memories.
You need to try a ballad of theirs "Please Don't Go". A little softer side of theirs.
I completely agree with BJ.....music this good will never be made again.
Number one reaction of the week !!!!!
This song was in the 1977 movie Saturday Night Fever with John Travolta & on the soundtrack. I love KC & the Sunshine band - so many great songs but a couple of my favorites are Get Down Tonight and I'm your Boogie man. Their songs will always put you in a good mood.
I was a 70's kid. This is my kind of music! Wouldn't a 70's party be so much fun? Everyone dress up in the clothes from the era? The hairstyles? And just blast the music? Do all the dancing, disco, and have a blast!
This is a fun and happy 😊 song/Jam. Love it.....
We had the BEST music in the 70's, and lots of it in all genre's and a lot more upbeat and fun than the angry attitude driven crap today there was tons and tons of real talent all over the place
@yambo59 you nailed it !! We are blessed that out of the 4.5 billion years the earth has existed, we are lucky to have won the lottery to walk the earth at the same time as Zeppelin and all the other talented bands/singers/musicians….wow we really got incredibly lucky….wrap your head around that!!! Mind blown 🤯 we really did have the best music…..the fact it’s still relevant 50+ years later….they got it right & we knew it !!! There is a pic of Robert Plant on Pinterest with the caption “No wonder your generation is so angry
Your music sucks !!!
I say he’s absolutely 💯 spot on !!!!
So true!
So darn true
For those of us who were kids during this era, this was played at the skating rinks all the time. Everyone just groovin in their 4-wheeled skates. So many great songs from that time. Instantly takes me back.
The 70’s was a decade long party.
We knew how to have a good time WITHOUT phones dancing to the best music in history.
To my understanding, KC and The Sunshine were responsible for starting the Disco era. In 1973, while making demos KC and drummer Richard Finch created an infectious sound using a drum and Roland rhythm machine that would forever change music. Gwen McCrae was asked to record the vocals for the song but was unavailable. Her husband George stepped in, and the rest is history. 'Rock Your Baby' became a massive international hit. Gwen McCrae would go on to have a huge hit herself with 'Rockin Chair' .ABBA also cited 'Rock Your Baby'' as an inspiration for the backing track of their massive hit 'Dancing Queen'. Far as KC and the Sunshine Band, they would go on to have three Number 1 hits on both the Pop and R&B charts with 'That's the way I like it', 'Get Down Tonight' and 'Shake Your Booty'.
Dipping back into classic Miami. The dance floor was rockin when KC was being played. Keep rolling!
Just incredibly infectious dance music. Love KC and the Sunshine Band and love watching you two get into their music.
Yep to the dance in gym class in jr high. No one needed a diet or have to pay for a gym membership! And the 70's disco until the wee hours! ETA: Yeah you got that right BJ. Disco was the happy music era. We need a lot of this right now again.
The Sunshine horns are badass!
Love this song 🎶
SALUTE. K C AND. THE. SUN SHINE. BAND. 🌖🌖🌖🌖🌖🌖🔥
This was a fun song from KC and the Sunshine Band, and people were amazed that the lead singer was a white dude!
On the album right after "and boogie with you" it tore right into "That's The Way" (I Like It). 1/2 second break. Still great to hear
I've said it before the 70s had it all hard rock soft rock progressive rock r&b love ballads rock ballads soul funk and even disco and it was all good
Some people dismissed them as disco pop, not serious music... but, man, they sound good now, 50 years later! This is wonderful music for dancing or just grooving in your headphones. Love this video (American Bandstand!) and your reaction. Thank you, Asia & BJ.
Thank you because I grew up with classic music that's the 70s because I have 45 records and I spin it thank you mom for raised a good boy and son
I love me some KC and the sunshine band. You can't help but dance. Lookin good and having the moves and having a good time.
I loved the crowd when they started dancing in the video!
This song is a
Masterpiece of epic proportions!
Thanks for sharing 👍
I so loved American Bandstand growing up!!!!! KC is your boogie man!!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😎🍸 So says Austin Tx!!!!!!
They are absolutely my favie band! Disco & classic rock combined 🫶 You gotta hear “I’m your boogie man & keep it comin love” my favies. Love y’all’s smiles, it just comes naturally when you’re listening to the 70s, happy times, peace & love ✌️It just makes you happy hearing it 😊
God bless y'all. Made a construction worker cry. 🤣 I have a special memory bout this song. I lost my Mom when I was 20, but I came home from HS once with my friend Walt in tow. When we came in, Mom was dancing at the kitchen sink washing dishes, listening to this song. She said " Come dance with Mommy" so I immediately started dancing. Walt cracked up and said " I wish my Mom was cool like that" She told him. " Don't stand there Walt, jump right in" It was a cool day. He tells people bout that still. Thanks for bringing that back
Thank you thank you. I grew up on this music. His brass section is legendary. You two are too cute. Love the energy between you.
Harry Wanye Casey is one of the great all time writers. Not only did he have a bunch of great hits with the Sunshine Band in the 70s and 80s, he also wrote "Rock Your Baby" for George McRae, which was #1 in 1974. 20 years later, he co-wrote "Connected" by Stereo MCs, which was a staple on MTV. And (biggest shock of all), he was a co-writer on "Gin and Juice" by Snoop Dogg!
Grew up in this wonderful era of music! IT WAS WONDERFUL!
They played at my Grad Nite (Disney all night party for high school seniors in FL) 1980!
Yes ! So many great artists /bands/ groups in the 70's. Teenage years / high-school.
Boston
Styx
Bay City Rollers
Aerosmith
Foghat
Bob Seigar
Eric Clapton
Leo Sayer
Peter Frampton
Edgar Winter
and many, many more.
I still have an 8-track of theirs around somewhere in my attic!!
Yes KC and the Sunshine Band were something we had never heard before back in the day.
I those days we hit Saturday night HARD! Dance, groove and disco till you were covered in sweat and women.. ..lol... The clothes, shoes, hair and flashing lights were HOT!! What a great time to be young..
Blacks and whites together, that’s what I remember beautiful.
This song is in regular rotation in my playlist. Always makes me smile and groove!
This band is something else. They were so good!
KC & The Sunshine band are AWESOME!!!
KC &The Sun Shine Band don't have a bad song! They all rock! Child of the 70s.. 😎
Good fun music that makes you smile and dance.
KC and the Sunshine Band always made everyone get up and dance in the clubs like no one else back then. Great to slow dance and fabulous fast stuff too. Used to Hustle to these guys [the real thing not the line dance].
on this same day you reacted to Good Vibrations by the Beach Boys, widely considered to be a masterpiece of pop music - a mini symphony - an innovative production that inspired the Beatles to make Sgt Peppers. And then you react to this song by KC, who was always dismissed by contemporary critics as bubblegum music - instantly disposable. But the true test is when you put that song on - which one speaks to you - which one makes you want to dance - which one grabs you to sing along. Clearly you guys enjoyed this slice of 70s soul way more than the Beach Boys song, but that's cool. Good music will always be good music.
Dang, this took me way back!! Memories of my mama with her beehive hairdo, mini skirt, and go-go boots dancing around the kitchen cooking dinner listening to this while American Bandstand was on the TV. (I'm old lol) Loved it, thanks for the flashback!
55 years old. KC was LIT!! Pure 🔥🔥
We have to thank k.c. and the sunshine band for putting all their hard work together for the best disco in the world and for the people, so sad for the loss of Jerome Smith R .i.p. I know you are jamming in heaven, this is still the number one band in the world The 70,S was great everyone got along this was one happy band with a smile 😊 k.c. in his 70s still kicking
Yes, we skated to this when we were little. Brings back so many great memories.
Ahhhh...good ol' American Bandstand ❤️
This was on American Bandstand with Dick Clark. Who remembers that show? KC was the man.
Pepperidge Farm remembers.........and me too.
I was only 9 years old when this song came out on AB thanks for making me smile ❤️
Thanks! Love K.C.
This was so good to listen to again guys‼️
American Bandstand needs to make a comeback for real‼️
QUEEN OF CLUBS BY KC AND SUNSHINE BAND WOW WHAT A MOVER
Hey guys great reaction as always! another seventies feel good party song ! I can't tell you how many times many times boogie shoes Has led to boogie slippers lol!
I couldn't agree with you more. KC and the Sunshine Band always brings the party and the Sunshine! If you move on through the decades you can find the evolution of the party sound in songs like "What's on your Mind (Pure Energy)" by Information Society from the 80s, and "Gonna Make You Sweat" by C&C Music Factory of the 90s. Check them out! Keep the party going🥳
Disco's the way to go! Lol I miss that fun...
Memories of weekends and summers at the roller rink in high school. ❤ my younger brothers were friends with the son of the man who owned the local roller rink.
Love KC & The Sunshine Band. ❣
You guys have a great channel.
God Bless. ✌
It's awesome seeing you young people enjoy this music. I loved growing up on this kind of music ( it was and still is the best ) I still can dance my _ _ _ off to Disco and Funk ✌❤🕺
KC and the Sunshine band was at the top in the 70's. Love their music.
KCs songs were always so much FUN! 💃💃🏽💃🏼
Iconic song.
I wore out my Boogie Shoes!, for sure. Happy times. Thanks again.
Always waiting for a KC & the Sunshine Band back at the skating rink!!
We danced the watergate, the rollercoaster, around the world, the bump and lots of others to this! Bye now, I'm going to dance.
Harry Casey is a great singer and performer probably underated. Another great groovy upbeat song by them. Kudos to all involved job very well done.
Boogie Down lol. Impossible to be anything but happy and groovin with their music. Thanks for the great music.
New subscriber! Just watched Knock in the Cabin Door and the scene with this song playing took me back to my teenage years (yep telling my age somewhat 🤣💃🏽)! Y’all reaction was on point! Got me up dancing with the song lol! KC and the Sunshine Band had us all up dancing in our family and the neighborhood block parties! What fun it was!
I remember my older sister jamming to this group all the time, she would dance around the house with me begging her to dance with me. Such amazing fun memories.
Saw KC and the Sunshine band 2 years ago in AC. Still puts on a great show!
This song is extremely infectious 🤩🎉 . I remember my aunt playing this in grammas living room in my early years teaching me the bump- those were the days 🥹🔥
Love KC and The Sunshine Band. Remember doing the Bump to their Songs. The 70’s Rock & Disco just Hit Different. Want to hear you react to Breakwaters “Release the Beast” or “Do It til the Fluid is Hott” Absolutely Amazing Songs. The Funk Meter is Off the Charts with Breakwaters “Do It til the Fluid is Hot”
This is my favorite of all KC& SSB
Happiest song ever
From the day this came out until 1993 when my Mother passed away, she would always say "Get your boogie shoes on" when we would go somewhere! 😥 love this song!
When I was 18 the song was a hit like right off the bat 67 years old and I still love this song
