Intarsia was something I loved to learn but after watching your WELL EXPLAINED video with plenty of giggles I wonder whether I should invest in one. Seems really interesting but I am just 71 years. Can you train an apprentice to pass on your skills and eventually your tools? I'd love to keep this hobby going and it sounds like you have a lot of experience.
@@KnitFactoryImpl 💐thanks for your comforting message. My daughter in law was interested in learning but gave up NO TIME and I fear her plans are to quit France definitely to live in Montreal with her family. No confidence. 🤣🤣🤣
You’re being very thoughtful about where your belongings will go and who might have the job of dealing with them, but don’t let that stop you from learning intarsia.
I have a Singer 700 standard gauge which I'm told is similar to the Brother. The manual says to "pull down gently' on the yarns but I'm having trouble grabbing all the yarns and keeping the tension equal on the yarns and some of the stitches jump off the needle hooks. It seems like these sinkers might be the solution. The obstruction of the ribber doesn't help either, as you said. Thanks.
Hi! Do you know if this intarsia carriage can be used on any brother standard gauge knitting machine? I have a brother kh 588 and was wondering which intarsia carriage would work on it as I can't find any info online.

Yes, the sinkers have some weight to them.
You can use clothes pins as sinkers. It just needs a bit of tension.

This carriage won't work on the bond but the bond is pretty well set up for intarsia already.
Do you have to have an intarsia carriage to do intarsia?

You can manually knit them after laying the yarn as for your pattern.
