Grand Canyon Rim to Rim Hike, In 1 Day

This is my Grand Canyon Rim to Rim hike in 1 day. In October 2022, I hiked the Grand Canyon R2R in one day. I took the Trans Canyon shuttle, camped for a night, then carried everything from the North Rim to the South Rim. I realized, I was the only R2R hiker that was carrying my camping gear across the canyon. Everyone else had day packs. So I would NOT recommend carrying a pack over 10 pounds through the Grand Canyon from Rim 2 Rim in one day unless you are experienced in 20+ miles per day carrying over 10lbs.

Outstanding job completing that gnarly haul! Thanks for taking us along! I ran that route on, mid-August, with my daughter, and came back on Oct. 8th and did it solo. If you're knees are starting to feel bad, you might consider stem cell with PRP injections. I'm 59 and just had mine done in June.

Good job! I did the r2r South Kaibab to North Kaibab on October 19th '23, at 66 years old. That was my first big challenge hike and I'm glad I did it! The last 5 miles after Manzanita was very tough, but I made it :). I actually am considering a r2r2r , we'll see. My wife dropped me off at the trail head at 4am, she went back to the hotel to sleep a few more hours, then she drove to the North rim to meet me and get a pic of me finishing :).

As a veteran of 17(or 18)Grand Canyon hikes with my grandsons (18 or 19 coming up this spring) I say "Huzzah" great job
