    A good purchase. Glad you like it. I use the Bell Super 3R which for me is great. Initially ordered the Giro Switchblade but immediately returned it - the Bell is much lighter and has way better ventilation. Cool review...and I do the same GoPro set up attached to the chin bar. Good luck with it and that color way is not bad! 🤘

      I put my Super 2 back on today (without the camera) and the difference in weight was noticeable. Still you can't have it all. Better to be safe, and the colours have grown on me 😅

    Interesting review, Nate!
    I also have the Bell Super 3R helmet and being thinking for a while to replace it for a “DH certified” version. However, 100gr more of the Super DH, plus de GoPro, means a lot of weight in your head (and, therefore, quite a lot of stress for your neck). The good think of these helmets is that they are extremely resistant to impact. We performed an impact test with a Bell Super 2R and ended up positively surprised with its resistance.
    Hopefully more options will come soon to the market. Maybe TroyLee and POC? We’ll see…

      Ye. The extra weight is noticeable and to be honest I think the clasp system is better on the older versions. I was interested in the TLD but wanted something I could take the chin off.

      I do! :) It was sent back a few days later with a faulty clasp. Kind of lucky really as it's way to hot for here. Also the weight difference with the 2R was considerable.

    It's a very good helmet, I have one myself in the brown colour. Very comfortable and allows for good air flow. Got this at 50 percent off so an amazing bargain. A lot better and cheaper than buying an open and full face.

      For sure, much better deal getting a two in one helmet. Glad to hear you're digging your helmet. 🤘

    Wish I bought this one instead of my Super 3R. Didn't realise mine wasn't DH rated and stupidly didn't look at this one! Good vid :-)

      Cheers Rob.
      Do you not like the 3R? I am thinking about getting one as sadly my DH got sent back a week later. One of the clasps was deformed and wouldn't close properly. I wouldn't get another one...The MIPS (or maybe it was the clasps) continually creaked. It was loud enough to hear on the GoPro.
      Also the weight difference was noticeable as was the considerable heat it generated. I'll have to keep looking for a better option.

    Nice, I ride the Giro Switchblade with a Hero 7 chin mount. Same situation, a bit hot and heavy but feels good and safe. 🤘

      I was interested in the Giro but having my ears always covered put me off. They do look comfy though.

    Interesting unboxing Nathan. I run a Super 2 as well which I love but I'm always wondering what I'll eventually replace it with when the time comes. This would certainly be on the list of candidates although I rarely ride with the chin bar on my Super 2. I think the colours look great on your lid btw.

    • @SenderoSeeker
      @SenderoSeeker  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers Chris. I always run the chin bar these days, one for the camera and two for safety. I'll only really take it off if there's a big steady climb. That said, it's very hot already and we're nowhere near summer temperatures.

    I will definitely be on the look out for a follow-up, i am in the market for a new trail helmet and consideration of the super DH is top of my list for versatility. I own a DH specific full face, but when i go on vacation or do half days at the bike park and the other half of the day pedaling around it would essentially be nice to only lug the one around vs the two and convert to suit my needs.

    • @SenderoSeeker
      @SenderoSeeker  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'll be sure to do a follow up video. Unfortunately I've had to send it back as one of the clasps was deformed and wouldn't close properly. I'm hoping that's why it was creaking!

      Hey. This went back after a week as it was faulty. They refunded me and I went with another brand. The only thing I can tell you is that it was the noisiest helmet I’ve owned. The creaks even came out on the GoPro. But then I know people who love it.

    Great review! I see you sent this one back b/c of a buckle issue, did they replace it for you? Are you happy with it now? I'm considering getting this helmet for all the reasons you did, but a finnicky buckle ain't gonna fly! I suppose if it rattles, I could always tape it to silence the beast. Please comment and let us know what happened after you had to replace it! Anxiously awaiting, great channel! I'll be reviewing this one on mine soon - especially if you're replacement is going well. Shred on!

    • @SenderoSeeker
      @SenderoSeeker  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey!
      It was the clasp that holds the chin guard into the helmet, so a little more serious than a buckle. I wasn't given a replacement option, they refunded me and that was that. To be honest I wouldn't buy again.
      I spoke to a few people after sending this back and they all complained about the in-helmet noise. It was so noticeable on mine that it could be heard on the videos I recorded on the Gopro chin-mount.
      I've had the Giro Switchblade for a while and am much happier. Not to mention that it's a much better fit for my head.
      I hope this helps! 🙌

    there is the 3r and the DH which are both similar in the way they look but the 3r is the one at $230, and the DH is $300. the difference being that the 3r is actually not downhill rated, but the DH is, hence the name and the bigger price tag. of course you might find them cheaper or on sales but the 3r is going to always be cheaper.

    • @SenderoSeeker
      @SenderoSeeker  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, all true but I don't have the 3R so didn't mention it. That said, the DH had already been sent back as it was faulty. It was also way too hot so will probably go with the 3R in the future.

    How's the sizing? I fall right in between the M (55-59cm) and L (58-62cm) and my head measures right 59cm. So I am undecided which one to pick.

  • @mtbboy1993
    @mtbboy1993 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The buckle is conserning, as there does not seem to be anything securing the strap, so I guess it could go out of adjustment, this was a problem I had with evry single half face helmet I had before, but I currently use full face with D ring buckle which has been securr.

    • @SenderoSeeker
      @SenderoSeeker  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's fine. There's a retainer to keep the step out of the way.

    • @mtbboy1993
      @mtbboy1993 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SenderoSeeker I see that but I had that on several helmets and it just kept going out of adjustment several times in a ride, it's only there to make it so it does not flap around, but I wonder about the buckle too, is there something making it harder for the strap to go out of adjustment there?
      cus a d ring buckle make secures it well, so I will stick with that I think.

    Cheers B

    • @SenderoSeeker
      @SenderoSeeker  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, unfortunately I wouldn't have gotten on with it even if it hadn't been faulty. Everyone I have spoken to complains of how noisy they are.
      I have just received the Giro Switchblade but have yet to try it. On Saturday I'll be racing in it so will know very soon. Third time's a charm...I hope.

    Still using a super 2 myself and trying to find a chinbar but they're all £60, given I managed to get the helmet for all of £50 in a sale I'm struggling a bit.
    Was this a worthwhile upgrade?

      I couldn't tell you. I had to send it back a week later as one of the clasps was deformed. I'm back to the 2r. I think I might go with the 3r next time. The DH was very hot and noticably heavier.
