You mob should rig up up a running mooring - set one anchor out deep then run a double line (endless loop) to shore where you tie off to tree or a second anchor and attach a mooring float on a short rope with chain to the endless loop. Then when you come in you tie off boat on mooring float and pull yourself into shore, jump off and when unloaded pull the endless loop to drag boat out to deep water ...... tie simple figure eight knot to secure endless loop and clip off to shore anchor.......no more swimming
Have been watching some videos on re-establishing mangrove communities where they have been cleared out be development, turning the coasts into biological deserts. The protective habitat of the mangroves is the nursery for so much sea life.
Wow, those night swims, glad you are clear, love the footage, great fun to watch. Cheers for sharing the fun, love those camps and the diving. Glad you are not bullshark poo. Dive safe! 👌🦘👍
Wow, risk it for the biscuits, crazy, but what an adventure.. this is why I love watching.. ❤ Keep going boys, get the fuel and plant your feet at Papua... Awesome.. The locals are beautiful people and what a great feed.. Wish I could do this.. Awesome Stuff.. Cheers 🍻
i went snorkelling from around Madang PNG off to an island ( on my own ) maybe 500m off the coat or so , when i got out in the deep, i just put my head up and swam as i was so far out i thought if there was a shark i would prefer not to see it coming , not very wise really . I think about it now some years later and think i was nuts, and lucky to be here .
Great show guys keep up the good work. Guys please keep your show as Back2 Basics as you can your off Siders are going a bit flash with the big boats and things and that’s great for them if that’s what they want to do me personally think it takes it away a bit from the basic way of doing things things that people can do that’s in there reach. Anyway boys love the show keep on doing what your doing. Stay safe
Just a heads up for anyone who has cassava is that is contains cyanide and needs to be well boiled or cooked to remove the toxicity. Cutting the roots into small pieces, followed by soaking and boiling in water is a good way at reducing the cyanide content in cassava.
Question - why don’t you gut the fish before cooking it? Couldn’t that lead to contaminated meat? I’ve seen other people do it too and it seems gross to me but I’m sure there’s a good reason for it
Hi guys, love the series and channel in general, just wanted to add my 2 cents regarding your comment on spearfishing being the most sustainable form of fishing. You generally target the best eating fish, the largest specimens, often catch multiple big/trophy fish, and often species which are hard to catch with rod/reel. By targeting bigger/trophy fish you are affecting the genetics (removing big fish tends to cause a population of smaller fish), is affecting the population by removing the most prolific breeders, and catching species that would otherwise have minimal pressure. Rod/reel fishing does also have the option of releasing fish in most cases, so is arguably just as sustainable. A lot of fishos also release trophy fish, these fish have much greater value as a sports fish that can be caught multiple times than a 1-time meal. Im not claiming spearfishing is bad, I just think its important to realise you are impacting the fish populations too, and maybe you should focus on mid-sized fish more to protect the bigger breeders.
Great video but when you kept on talking about crayfish it was driving me crazy lobster and crayfish are so different and with how many viewers you have you need to give out the correct information, would have loved to see how good they tasted though 👍🙏👍
There aren’t two channels, there are just two groups of people that upload stuff. They are up to different things, so there are different series going on. I’m glad that’s the case, it’s like having two TV shows on the same channel. If there was a feud going on I’m sure one of them would start a new channel. But I’d like to see them back together sometime too
@@jeffreyflynn2805 yeah I just subscribed to that, I think this guy was asking why there are two series going on. Maybe not though, but yeah they just started another channel to post survival type stuff
Not just you guys but I think TH-cam and now its community guidelines that we cant tell you exactly how we feel about videos being bad just in case we hurt peoples feeling is crap.why cant we say what exactly we want.if ya dont like it dont do TH-cam I guess. Poeple are way to fucking precious. Poor baby,s.
I am probably going to be an outlier with my comments but I don't get your channel. You call it back ti basics, but from what I see you run around in a power boat burning petrol to film TH-cam videos. You are always somehow "checking the weather", "pressing on for schedule" or "didn't budget for something " How about giving up the power boat and try sailing?
Sometimes in the boat, sometimes in a kayak (for weeks at a time), sometimes on foot, sometimes in a truck. B2B is about about many things, but at its corse- getting into the great outdoors, catching your own food, and resetting from the trappings of the modern world.

Yeah, I was just about to Google that.
It’s shrinks up to nothing no difference in eating quality
Does nothing to meat
Awesome vid, so awesome to see great fish and lobsters in abundance..
Could put your snow gear on come over to Queenstowns do all the activities n go skiing or snowboarding. That would be an interesting video
Ive never been in the snow! I wouldnt have the clothes haha , would be a change up for sure
@@BacktoBasics probably more of a holiday with the miss tbh. There’s heaps of fishing n hunting a stones throw away. I loved to see it anyway. Chur ✌️
nice work
12:38 I understood the safety WARNING about the “spear breaking” and being “IMPALED ON YOUR OWN SPEAR”. With those sharks 🦈 it was EAT OR BE EATEN!
Agreed! Lesson learnt
I like it when there is less talking and more action.
This is ok. Great video
Will keep in mind! My mouth needs a coconut thrown at it sometimes haha
@@BacktoBasics Ha ha thanks and I have to say again great videos and a wonderful partner

Love watching your vids guys I love the randomness and the feel that not everything is perfect. Time to invest in a small blow up rubber ducky lads.
Hahhaa too right! Rubber ducky or a big boogy board
❤️ me some Manioke/casava/tapioka, is there any kaVa grown there. Nice feed!

Can anyone tell me the name of the gray fish with the yellow tails and fins at 6:25? Thanks!
I think they are Hawaiian sweetlip. Generally considered a poor eating fish
Great video Az and Jack…does Fran have any sisters?
Haha cheers mate! She does. We both have epic misses on the mainland. But that story is to be told in future eps 🤙
Awesome series guy's 🤙what size is your boat guys
one day you should do a review of the trip with your grandfather , would love to see hear his comments
Ted had so many questions for us. I got a lot of advice from him prior to heading up there.

What is that camera? Gopro 10?
What model Sportsman is that?
Y’all be careful with fresh Cassava, it can be toxic if not properly, peeled, washed and dried. 😬
My question is: Why would you even have a keyed switch for the boat?
Confused - how many Back 2 Basics channels are there?
exactly. fran is in both channels??
Didn't you keep the Flatty as they are the sweetest fish as far as I am concerned.
Teach us how to hand grip a cray
cooking the fish with guts in it ??
yeh mate, no worries!
Why are there no blue water boats around where you are
It's quite remote in the Torres strait.
Can someone explain to me why there are two 'Back to Basics' channels and why they are never connected to one another? Is there a feud going on?
