    Thanks SO MUCH for this video. I got a 2020 C-HR recently and I needed instructions on how to route the dashcam wires. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for.

    9:32 Mine is a CHR hybrid. Where is the location of those wiring connections? Is it near the OBD?

    • @carDIYs
      @carDIYs  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, its just below the OBDII port, you can see brake/accelerator pedals in this part of video. You have to remove the plastic trim by just removing the plastic nut deep under the accelerator pedal and then the piece just below OBDII

      Yes, this is an always live wire, so the dashcam will not shut down while car is parked, will keep recording based on your dashcam properties

    Will placing the front dash cam directly below the radar cause any problem? Noticed you placed it on the left side.

    • @carDIYs
      @carDIYs  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be a blockage to your vision. In fact I tried to put it as much high and below the mirror so that the camera doesn’t block my vision

    Hi,
    At the last part how did you access the live wire for power supply? Thanks

    • @carDIYs
      @carDIYs  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi,
      If you start watching from the 9:31 minute of the video you can see that I am connecting the positive wire of the camera to the black thick wire under your OBDII port, have to remove that trim. Negative is connected to a bolt near that area

    • @carDIYs

      I don’t think any wiring kit is available for this, other than the fused connector that comes with dashcam. Just tap the big black wire for +ve and connect negative of the the body as shown in video

    This was very informative, but you didn't really show how it was connected to power, or at least it wasn't clear enough in the video. Does this camera have parking mode? It would be good to know how to find a constant power connection for that feature.

    • @carDIYs
      @carDIYs  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you watch the last part you can see that I am tapping power from the thick wire

    • @carDIYs
      @carDIYs  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, this wire is an always live wire and so the camera will be on even while car parked. The camera do have a battery cutoff system that will switch off the camera if car battery voltage goes below a threshold which we can set

    Hi after long time a question for you, do we need to remove these all stuffs for attach a dash cam I do have toyato chr koba and I need to fix xiaomi 70mai pro dash cam I think we don't need to remove all this things. I hope we don't wanna do this

      Hi, If you would like to connect your dashcam in always live mode and also need a back view camera I guess we have to do this. The alternative will be to have just a front camera connected to the cigar lighter socket which doesn’t need removal of all that shown in video

    • @carDIYs
      @carDIYs  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try to set the battery management in your dashcam to switch off camera if battery voltage drops below 12volt or so. If not if the car is parked for long battery will get drained

      Actually in Singapore the car already came with this wire stripped of as it is mandatory to fit IU(In-Vehicle unit) for paying ERP and parking automatically

    from 9:32, sloppy job. Connect to fuse box instead.

    • @carDIYs
      @carDIYs  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That should also be fine as well. In Singapore every car needs to have a device called IU, which is mounted on right bottom corner of the windshield and is used to pay for road toll and parking fees automatically. To connect this device the car dealers had already tapped this wire of my car. So for me it was better to tap from the same wire instead of routing again to fuse box and trying to find an ‘always live’ wire.
