If you want to keep track of your Biketown/Lyft bike, I'd suggest reserving the bike. It'll reserve your bike for 10 minutes. If it's over the 10-minute time limit (ex. if you want to wait, consume, and have a long conversation above 10 minutes) you can reserve it again, then you can use the two bikes you were using before. Though it costs extra if it was an e-bike. But if you're at a specific bike For All program membership from your nearest Lyft bike-sharing system (Capital Bikeshare is my nearest bike network and they have a For All program), reserving an e-bike costs nothing, Free $0.99. No unlock fee. Heck from my experience, you could use the e-bike as long as you like. No charge as long as if you're in the service area and costs $5/year.

Thanks for the tips! We think it’s a great thing for the cities to have this and definitely want to keep using it when we travel.

Awesome video, thanks for the good recommendations. But, next time can you do some wheelies or jumps?

Update on the annual membership for Biketown e-bikes: still $99 and, in addition to free unlocks, your per-minute rate is reduced by over 50% (from $0.35 to $0.15)! It could easily pay for itself in the first month.

What about charging the battery? What is the average range for a full charge?

This is all managed by the company that takes care of the bikes. Similar to how Lime scooters and similar companies take care of those. They're charged by them. You simply find one with the app that has enough juice for the distance you're needing it for. We switched a few times throughout the day to different ones that were parked. All of which had different battery levels. Just have to pay attention.
