NOTE: Some of the stutters in my game capture appears to be from how the video files were saved and not from the actual gameplay, and it also looks like I might have included gameplay for games like Battlefront 2 when I was trying more aggressive settings (instead of their optimal settings), so take the FPS numbers in those recordings with a grain of salt - sorry about that!
Just bought this card for my son. Dropped it into 5050 SFF system with I7-7700 processor, a 1TB m.2 drive, and 32GB RAM. Works great and no issues. I used the x4 slot and it is able to run everything he plays great. Had the 1050 TI and upgraded to this 3050. A huge step up in performance. So far no heat issues with the card that close to power supply.
That's really good to know! I was hesitant to use the x4 slot (hence my crazy modifications in the video), but I'm glad to hear it's running so solid for you! Might have to tighten my build up 😅
I wanna learn more about Bazzite, I never heard of it before this video. Seeing how it compares to other Linux distros sounds cool to me. Also, I love how you had to MacGyver your way into making this power supply and case work 😂
Why brand new? You can get way more value used, and it's a 3050 in 2025. With a low budget and a need for a better card, you just have to swallow your ego. Most people are selling their GPUs because they want more fps/performance, not because they broke it or anything(tho, you have to be on the lookout). You guys have a good used market in the US/Canada. Make use of it, ffs. Edit: since you're open-minded enough to build on top of optiplex, use the used-market.
@xor-rox the video specifically mentioned canada/america. And my comment also specifically mentioned the American/Canadian used market. How are you replying to me?
If there was a used low profile card available that provided the same or better performance, that would totally have been the play 🙂 The low profile restriction was the biggest decider of the card for this build, and getting the card new at a deep discount was just a happy accident

I never thought I’d see 3050 6gb and beast in the same sentence.
lol yea unique circumstance for sure 😆
love the cpu bottle neck XD
haha yea wishing I'd been able to find an 8th gen or better for the price - next build 😁

Thanks for the comment! And lol thanks 😂
you could just put gpu in the pcie x4 slot. Making the whole project more affordable and with less hassle
fair point - I thought about that but didn't want to lose out on bandwidth in the full slot, and get less performance out of the card
