LOVE the cabinets .. not feeling the handles, you can get handles for cheap cheapp ( Home Depot for like 4$ a handle) if you ever want to change them! excited about the finished product
I actually lile the natural wood! I would've probably cut the footboard base off, added a sheet of plywood, and added 3 in furniture feet. All in all it came out very cute Kayla!
Definitely a flip! BUT I think the other stain option could’ve possibly covered the tone differences in the drawers/doors of the vanity. Changing out the drawer pulls and door handles would really take it to the next level! (They did clean up well though, but just style wise they still have that dated look to them)
I restored some antique brass handles with baking soda and ketchup. I know it sounds weird but the acidity in the ketchup causes a reaction. It worked for me so let me know. I think the vanity turned out nice.
Y'all did a spectacular job on the vanity. It looks like a professional did it. I am ok with the knobs but I honestly think the vanity and wood grain would pop with some new more modern and bold handles. That is just a suggestion but whatever you decide it will look great!
I've been following a channel called "black sheep house" and she does BEAUTIFUL finishes on her furniture... I followed the "pottery barn look" and did the faux wood look on cheap ikea nightstands... and let me tell you, it took them to a whole new level. I am obsessed with the look of them, and the finish makes it look like a super high end piece. I would recommend that finish for your bathroom vanity. It really elevates the look of it. She mixes 1/2 polyurethane with 1/2 paint of your choice and paints the surface (after it's been primed), and then goes back with a broom/brush to get the wood grain look.
When I stripped the wood in my old house, I used something called Zip Strip. Wear rubber gloves. Apply the Zip Strip thickly and allow the paint to bubble up, let it do the work. Then take your scrapper and scrape all of the paint off and it does come off easily too. Then take some steel wool and sand it down. Yes you can use a sander too.
Great job, Kayla! I love that the vanity is real wood and not what most builders use today. I like the poly look, but I think I would use hardware the same color as the faucet to give the vanity a little pep. 😊
Hi Kayla... You did a great job! To get an even tone on the wood, use a wood conditioner on the wood prior to staining or top coating. Wood conditioner is sold at Home Depot near the stains and top coats. The only other recommendation, which is dependent upon the finish look you you want. If you want a more "polished/smooth" look, then I reccomend using wood filler on the places where the wood had dings or gashes (fill, sand, then apply wood conditioner). Overall, good job. Flipping furniture is fun and a learning process. Enjoy the journey.
You flipped that dear. It’s beautiful. I’m a woods girl as well. I love it. Your whole place is transforming right before our eyes. Congratulations and great job.
Loved the way your vanity turned out. Not only should you wear gloves when stripping furniture but a mask also even when out of doors. There's a product called "bar keepers friend" that works well cleaning metals. I look forward to your videos every week, thank you for taking us on your journey.
The vanity looks great as is, but new handles would make it even better. You and Marcus should be really proud of all your handy work. I'm impressed. 💕
I hate wearing gloves too, but in order to save my mani, I do! I usually wear the S/XS latex gloves because they are very snug and I feel less like I’m wearing gloves! Also, I have a pair of over-sized zip-up coveralls (not overalls) . That’s a must as well. I use Tarni-x mixed with Dawn dish soap and hot water to shine up jewelry, metals, etc….but do NOT LET IT SOAK IN THAT CONCOCTION FOR TOO LONG! Kayla, you & Marcus are doing a marvelous job with your home. I’m your proud internet Auntie! ❤️
Nice job on the vanity! I liked your choice of protectant as well as the granite. I think that different handles would suit the look of the vanity better as well as your bathroom design. Perhaps something gold like your faucet. The white plastic in the middle of the handles just throws me off. Thanks for sharing your content 💞
I love the fact that u used the old cabinet. It was in good shape and it looks heavy. I really like the light wood tone of it. I would change the knobs out personally but those look nice. I have the same faucets in my bathroom expect different color I just think they look so lovely and I'm not going to see them in anyone else house around me. Nice job Kayla 💪🥰
👏👏👏 for sticking with that job! So happy that you're happy. Rub n buff is a life saver. I can see you painting the bathroom cabinet black in the future.
It definitely was a flip your old vanity still have a lot of potential very sturdy. Can you see how the natural wood look? You both do an amazing job.😊😊 I can't wait to see the final results. Your videos are very therapeutic.
I'm so glad you saved it! I would maybe change the pulls to make it a tad more modern. The wood looks so high quality. They don't make cabinets like that anymore!
The darker stain looked a lot better. Also, i think maybe replacing the handles would make it look even better. You did a really great job overall. Nice!
Wow! Fantastic transformation. The wood grain is beautiful and you did an amazing job restoring that cabinet. The counter top gives it a great Contemporary look also. I would probably purchase new handles to complete your new look. Great job!
I also used the Zip Strip to soak my handles and door handles and hinges as well. Then I took an old tooth brush to clean them. Use rubber gloves.. Talk about pretty.
Love that you both are refinishing so many of the original pieces in this home. The fireplace looks amazing, the bath vanity is now so beautiful. I think the finish is perfect, you wont even notice the variations in the woodwork once it is installed back in the room, you only do now with the sun shining so brightly on it and looking at it from afar. Its perfect.
Hi Kayla, Great flip! I like the darker stain which might also hide the difference in the wood. Also I think new antique handles would give it a nice lift. They have some that are really affordable. Love the furniture flips!!
I’m so happy you stayed with the vanity and kept the charm. Some people are quick to remove those special details when renovating. This is definitely a flip 🥰
Now that’s a sweet “Flip”. The fact that you took it back to its infancy (before they painted it) is what restoration is all about. It’s truly vintage now. After your renovation is complete you can decide if it’s the look you’re going for. I love it, but I’m an old soul. I still have my grandma’s cast iron skillet. 🥰
Hey Kayla, I enjoyed watching as usual; your vanity was most definitely a flip. I don’t think you want to use bleach, I just think with the outside lighting it just appears lighter but once you get that puppy in the bathroom no one will notice because they will be looking at the entire bathroom makeover. I’m sure you will notice but honestly you did a fantastic job.
It looks great. I bought a 1960 home 3 months ago and the original bathroom cabinet is 10 ft long with double sinks. I don't want to change the cabinet, just the top and the sinks. You have given me such inspiration to redo it myself.
I personally LOVE that you refinished the original cabinetry! So much better for the environment than just throwing it out and putting a whole new modern one in. Plus it pays hommage to the house’s history. 💕 they look great!!!
Very nice!! It came out really well. I thought that you would paint the handles black, leaving the marble piece white, to contrast the light wood and also tie into some of the black accents in your home.
I love the cabinet its so beautiful and you did that I'm soooooooo happy you guys got it where you don't have to pay for a new one you smart save save what you can it looks antique anyway God bless you beautiful lady can't wait to see you and Marcus get married I'm waiting on pins and needles for the day!!!!!!!
I love the refurbished vanity! Amazing job👌🏾 I'm not a big fan of the handles, But honestly it doesn't matter what I think 😅 As long as you guys love it, that's what really matters most.
You can amp up your cabinet by adding some picture frame molding. Do some research or maybe some cane mixed with molding. But, nice as is too. Homes evolve and it can be a Phase 2.0. Also, rub & buff comes in 4 colors. Again, a Phase 2.0 on handles. After all, you got a wedding & life to plan. Homes evolve. I salute you for restoring the vanity, GOOD JOB !!!
Big flip! I'm glad you decided to keep part of the original bathroom. I would have tried to keep a few pink tiles, you could put cork on the back and use for coasters.
You mentioned you were a little disappointed about the paint not coming off fast enough at first but it really came off pretty well. This is coming from someone who’s stripped a ton of paint in my lifetime. You did an amazing job…looked like you’d done this before. Smart to reuse your vanity…it looks very well built…solid wood. It came out great…well done!
You did a great job! I learned my lesson about putting the paint stripper on too thin too. I'd only change the cabinet pulls but that's because they're not my personal style.
You did an awesome job!!!! I just like color, I would have painted a different color all together and added new gold hardware. It’s really a nice vanity!!!
This was definitely a successful FLIP. Not quite sure how I feel about the knobs, maybe it will all come together once everything is done. Great jobs you guys. I love DIYs
Hey y’all! Was this a furniture flip or flop? Let me know what ya think :) 💕
🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲👍👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏💯💯🙏🤣🤣🤣🤣👏👏👏😂😂😂😅😅😅🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
I think it turned out really nicely!!!! Lots of hard work and love went into it!
It was def a flip but a lot of work 🤦🏻♀️🤣 I love it
Definitely a flip. It looks great!
Please protect your hands when working with chemicals. Also, take off your lovely ring until you're finished too.
Loved this!!! Yes, I am also interested in flipping furniture...this will be fun!
LOVE the cabinets .. not feeling the handles, you can get handles for cheap cheapp ( Home Depot for like 4$ a handle) if you ever want to change them! excited about the finished product
Lol! They need some help right?? I’m gonna do some research & see if I can find some better ones!! Thanks boo ☺️
@@YoungLadyBusiness you can go on amazon and see if they have any used/returned handles!!
I got 60 black modern handles for $7.00 !
@@YoungLadyBusiness also Amazon
I am not feeling the hardware on the vanity, after seeing your new fixtures.
Everything is going to look great whatever you do.
Love the cabinet...I would Change hardware and reposition the it. IMO 🤗
I actually lile the natural wood! I would've probably cut the footboard base off, added a sheet of plywood, and added 3 in furniture feet. All in all it came out very cute Kayla!

Changing out the drawer pulls and door handles would really take it to the next level! (They did clean up well though, but just style wise they still have that dated look to them)
Thanks boo! I was afraid it would make it darker ! 😊
I restored some antique brass handles with baking soda and ketchup. I know it sounds weird but the acidity in the ketchup causes a reaction. It worked for me so let me know. I think the vanity turned out nice.
Something bout that good ol WOOD TEXTURE in all its glory 😍 unmatched
FLIP for sure! I would use different knob but it look AWESOME!!
It came out cute!!! I love natural wood tones. Me personally I would leave them with different tones it’ll add character to your bathroom.
Looks great, like a brand new cabinet. Leave the tones it makes it look more natural. Good job.
It came out REALLY nice. I love that you guys were able to retain an authentic, historical piece.
Y'all did a spectacular job on the vanity. It looks like a professional did it. I am ok with the knobs but I honestly think the vanity and wood grain would pop with some new more modern and bold handles. That is just a suggestion but whatever you decide it will look great!
Hey Kayla, great job on the restoration! 👋👋👋 However, I would suggest that you upgrade the handles and paint the cabinet white (Alabaster).
It looks good. Good job

THIS IS A WELL MADE PIECE OF FURNITURE. YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO USE IT IN THE SUNROOM AS A TV CONSOLE/BUFFET PIECE. LOVE THE NEW VANITY.
I LOVE THE FLIP ON YOUR VANITY THE COLOR IS NICE!!!! THANKS FOR SHARING!!!

It’s definitely a flip Kayla. You did an outstanding job. I agree with another comment to seal the handles. That might raise the shine even more.
That's a great piece of furniture for a laundry room. It's a keeper, the handles fit the period of your home.👍👍
Loved the way your vanity turned out. Not only should you wear gloves when stripping furniture but a mask also even when out of doors. There's a product called "bar keepers friend" that works well cleaning metals. I look forward to your videos every week, thank you for taking us on your journey.
That marble counter top is really going to bring it together. You did an amazing job it looks wonderful.
You did a good job 👍👍👍
I would go with the natural stain. That cabinet looks so much better. Love it girl! Definitely a FLIP
I liked the darker stain! 🙃 Great job sanding the vanity! It’s beautiful!🥰
The vanity looks great as is, but new handles would make it even better. You and Marcus should be really proud of all your handy work. I'm impressed. 💕
Glad you Kept this it’s Solid Wood, not pressed wood:)
Great for a Beautiful Makeover 💕
The vanity looks great. I appreciate you taking us through the process. Your videos are very inspirational.
Great job Kayla & Marcus!! I'd leave the vanity as is for now until you see how it ties in with the new bathroom..You may love it how it is!!
Yesss! Thanks love !
I hate wearing gloves too, but in order to save my mani, I do! I usually wear the S/XS latex gloves because they are very snug and I feel less like I’m wearing gloves! 😃👍🏽💕 I love it Kayla.... the handles & cabinet came out great ...nothing need to be done.
Everything looking great! 👍 🥰 👌
It really came out looking so nice. I think it's really going to pop once the counter top is added. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Ketchup works really well to make metals brighter xx
The vanity looks great I’d probably add different hardware
Nice job on the vanity! I liked your choice of protectant as well as the granite. I think that different handles would suit the look of the vanity better as well as your bathroom design. I agree
Young lady you know that was a WOW, it was Awesome! Continue to grow & enjoy life.

👏👏👏 for sticking with that job! So happy that you're happy. Rub n buff is a life saver. I can see you painting the bathroom cabinet black in the future.
You could use some Waverly Antiquing wax from Walmart to give your door handles a more aged brass look. Love the natural finish!! Great job hun!!
Vanity looks 100 times better turned out great excellent job one suggestion on cleaning brass try brasso it's a Polish you can get it at Home Depot
I think its beautiful that u have such specific style. It's fun watching u embrace and run with it.
Nice job incorporating the vanity back in the bathroom. That vanity is well made, solid and has a lot of life left in it.
The cabinets turned out really nice. They look so fresh and new. Can't wait to see the installations.
Nice job on the cabinet. Glad you kept it. Still fits the decor and period of home. Update the handles. 😊
Great job!
I stand corrected.
Humble 🥧.
Great job.
I also used the Zip Strip to soak my handles and door handles and hinges as well. Then I took an old tooth brush to clean them. Use rubber gloves..
Talk about pretty.
Hi there guys. I love the wood but I don't like the handles. I think you should buy some new ones to match the faucet. Ya'll are doing a great job.

Hi Kayla,
Great flip!
This was pretty cool especially the rub and buff
I love watching you n Marcus, making me do Diy on my furniture
Beautiful. I love how you brought it back to life.
This was a FLIP! You did a great job and I love the color of the cabinets and the handles. Hello, Kayla and Marcus!
Flip; the vanity looks good as it ages it will develop its own color. You did a good job!
Kayla you did a great job! Way to save money!!!!! God Bless!
Hey Kayla, I enjoyed watching as usual; your vanity was most definitely a flip. Gorgeous, I'm so glad you we able to save it & btw Mashy is just too darn adorable 😍
Girl you have so much patience when it comes to these DIY projects. I commend you because I would have thrown the vanity away.
It looks great. I bought a 1960 home 3 months ago and the original bathroom cabinet is 10 ft long with double sinks. I don't want to change the cabinet, just the top and the sinks. You have given me such inspiration to redo it myself.
Your cabinet was definitely a flip!!!
Hi Kayla , Love your channel. the vanity Definitely a flip. I love to see Repurpose furniture I love to see how Marcus And you work so well together .
You could add trim pieces to the cabinet doors to make it look like a shaker cabinet ☺️
I personally LOVE that you refinished the original cabinetry! So much better for the environment than just throwing it out and putting a whole new modern one in. Plus it pays hommage to the house’s history. 💕 they look great!!!

Great job Kayla! I love the natural wood.
I love the refurbished vanity! Amazing job👌🏾 I'm not a big fan of the handles, But honestly it doesn't matter what I think 😅 As long as you guys love it, that's what really matters most.
Girl when you started, I was like where are your gloves! Great Job, the handles give it character.

Beautiful job....the handles....tomato paste or spaghetti sauce....the acid from the tomatoes....I did it on my old cabinet I inherited...Good luck 👍🏾
Cabinets look great. Thank you for sharing.
I like the different tones of the wood 😍. I can't wait to see it all come together!
I love your vanity! You are so brave. I don’t think I could take on a project like that!
Very nice! What a way to repurpose!!!
Big flip! I'm glad you decided to keep part of the original bathroom. I would have tried to keep a few pink tiles, you could put cork on the back and use for
coasters.
That's a cute idea for the tiles especially since she uses pink in the kitchen. Also possibly a trivet to use in the kitchen.
You did that! 👌🏾 I love that you see the potential in pieces, and they come out looking beautiful
You mentioned you were a little disappointed about the paint not coming off fast enough at first but it really came off pretty well. It looks absolutely beautiful

Nice job on the sink and good decision on keeping it👍
You did an awesome job!!!! I just like color, I would have painted a different color all together and added new gold hardware. It’s really a nice vanity!!!
Yayyy. I love it... The natural tone is beautifullllll
Very pretty the natural look like it❤
This was definitely a successful FLIP. Not quite sure how I feel about the knobs, maybe it will all come together once everything is done. Great jobs you guys. I love DIYs
Hey Kayla, I think the vanity came out absolutely beautiful. Definitely a good flip. Encouraging me to do a piece of old furniture I have TFS
Hey love! Thank you! & you totally should! It’s so fun! 😀
