I've been eager to try this experiment for some time. What's the plan? We'll explore the impact of using them in deep resin pieces.
I'm happy with the outcomes; now, I need to determine how to color the mini styrofoam pieces without causing a mess. I welcome any suggestions you might have.

In my course Being Intentionally Creative, I break that myth because I know, and you will as you follow me, that we are all creative, in one form or another, you simply need to look for where your creativity lives.

I think it was a great experiment.I think laying it and laying it would be a great ideal

Love it!! It looks yummy, like a Christmas candy. Definitely going to try that brilliant idea. Thank you for posting.

Try using a zip lock bag and spray your paint in the bag first. Add some foam balls in zip shut and squish around. If you need you can add more paint. Repeat if need. Spread out on an aluminum cookie sheet to dry, then add to the resin . Just an idea.

thanks for the suggestion - without suggestions from people like you, I sometimes get stuck on coming up with new ideas.

I wonder if you could glue some together in a ball shape and have them look like ornaments. Adding transparent colored beads to look like lights, cut up tinsel or foil for the garland. Add a star on it later.

I'm surprised the balls didn't melt from the heat of the resin or paint. You could try fusing them with a heat gun in the mold first, beware of the fumes though. I like to make lace or ribbon flowers for projects as it's quite hot right now.

I was surprised the styrofoam didn't melt as well. They may have been coated with something that protected them. Not sure about wanting to use a heat gun. UV resin might be an idea, use it first to shape the styrofoam together and then put into the mould.

I have coloured styrofoam balls using acrylic paint in a ziplock baggie, then laying them flat to dry on a piece of saranwrap. Another way to get them into a shape is using glue for styrofoam, putting them into a cookie mold, then using the end result like an insert, like you would a sticker, stone, or whatever. Either way, these are gorgeous! I love them❤

Other resin artists add a drop or two of Elmer's clear school glue to the resin, and the thickness increases significantly. The foam balls should be mixed in without floating.

I might have to try that... I have added glue to other projects, but haven't with styrofoam balls

48:43 i kinda think using shimmery or iridescent white acrylic paint on the indentations and wiping off the excess would be nice... like snow.
I do really like these. I actually think the ones where you see the balls are cool. Imagine doing different colors of balls in a clear or glittery resin.

I keep looking. I really like the back of them as well as I like the first. They look snow covered.

thanks, I have to find an easy way to paint the balls, I do like the idea of them being coloured. I always like having pieces that no matter how they hang, you have something pretty to look at.

@nmbbeingintentionallycreative I know you can put round wooden beads in a bowl with acrylic paint and roll them around, but these are so tiny. Alcohol ink would be great, if it doesn't degrade the foam....and if they don't "bleed" into the resin if you want to keep the resin clear. It will be interesting to follow along and see what you come up with. My husband isn't well so I'm not able to get to my shed to create lately. I'm living vicariously through other makers.

@@SunshineSomeday - there is a lot to think about when it comes to the balls and how to colour them without it being a major ordeal or as you said the colour running once in the resin, unless that is the look one would be going for. If I do come up with an easy way, I will definitely share. Sending positive vibes your way for your husband and that you may be able to find some time in your shed to create, it is great therapy. 🎨

I get a bag of little beads at the dollar store, they are cheap and they look really cute. Maybe you might want to try those along with the little Styrofoam balls? I have that mold, can’t wait to try this.

What about a thin layer of color then adding them? Maybe back them after they cure? Or I guess you’d get a thin layer since they float. 🤔

I wonder if you added food coloring to the Styrofoam balls or just put them in a bottle or jar with the spray paint may go e it color.
To keep them from floating I know people use glue in the resin when they add glitter to keep it from floating. Maybe it will help with those.
When I finish watching the video maybe I'll have other ideas. May e someone more experienced will give you better suggestions.

Would the micapowder colour the balls when dry?

    • @nmbbeingintentionallycreative
      @nmbbeingintentionallycreative  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

I could try. I might see about using UV resin to mould them, and then I could see about applying mica powder to them, then put them into a mould. Thanks for the suggestion.

I think spray paint will dissolve or melt styrofoam.

    • @nmbbeingintentionallycreative

I believe these ones are coated with something. I did try to spray paint them, they blew all over the place, so no good coverage. Now that they are set in the resin, I could try again, but I haven't gotten any further with them.
