They all require maintenence. You did not get scammed. That was a bargain for what you paid. I own 6 of them. I would take it apart, clean it out, replace the thermal paste, remove the clock capacitor if it has one, clean the laser lens, replace the belt on the tray, and do a rocky 5 soft mod on it.
That sucks it didn’t work mate, there plenty of guides on TH-cam for fixing OG Xboxes so check them out and make a video on it. That what I did a few years ago when someone got me an OG Xbox, I had to take that apart and clean out all the dust and other things and might be worthwhile replacing the thermal paste for the heat sinks. Sorry to hear man. Recently purchased one at a similar price as yourself and the common reoccurring issues seem to be with the disc tray. Mine wouldn’t eject but I eventually got it to work when I tapped above the top of the disc tray. Thankfully it did read discs but with a good clean up I managed to keep it in relatively good condition afterwards so don’t be too disappointed after all you only paid around $20 so at least it wasn’t more. Hope you can find some solutions 🙏🏻
You can take the lid off and switch the rubber band out that blocks the tray. You can always softmod this console and put iso's on the hdd for $20 you can still have a functioning system. Clean the lense on the inside and it should fix the read issue.
I remember as a kid when the disc drive got stuck I'd stick a butter knife inside of it and pry it open. Worked very well until my mum threw it in the bin 😆
@@Lucidd25 Type "Rocky5 Endgame Tutorial" in your TH-cam search. Also for what it's worth, you can buy another DVD drive and install it. The original Xbox's disc drive isn't married to the motherboard like it is on 360 and One, etc. So if you can find a deal on a replacement off eBay, etc, it will plug and play.
Your Xbox needs a new rubber for the CD drive. It costs less than $5. I know it's frustrating that it won't play, but it's one of the easiest fixes. You still got a good deal for $20, and you can also softmod it and add a hard drive to it.

Well it Is because they posted it as working and reading disk and it didn't

i would try and get a partial refund keep the xbox just get a 10$ off
They surprisingly gave me a full refund

Even if the disc drive is broken, you can mod it and play from an external drive.

Definitely will try that, I tried cleaning the disk drive, which was heaps of dust in it, but still still didn't work
