The shuttle carrier flight to Florida was tedious. Ceiling was 15,000ft, cruise was 250kt and range 1,100nm. They got bashed pretty good from turbulence. It wasn't a very stable aircraft with the orbiter attached. It could not refuel midair so they had to land two or three times to refuel depending on the winds. Props to these amazing pilots.
