Great episode, though short! I'm staggered that unless it was for the effect of jeopardy that you precision engineers don't have a better stock management labelling system for engine blocks.
I think this would cost a customer a fortune , lovely though all the bits are . Minis were supposed to be to get bus passengers their own transport cars for the masses. Worked at a Mini shop in Ramstein in the early seventies. Not much space, so the old minis were stacked on top of each other.
I wouldnt deck the block, therefore Arrow bits for me. Great set of videos.
i would keep the 70mm crank for a already heavy milled block

Yes it is a bit of a mess - they were sorted, then we moved, now we're mid-move again. We keep out-growing workshops!

how about finding a third more standard 1275 crank and use that
Standard A+ rods limit us to the 5-port head, so we need S rods or steel to keep options open!
Use the used steel crank with new rods, that way you won't be decking the block to the point where its useless as standard in the future......
Great video, but in some ways it would have been good to have built a 998 engine as 1275 blocks are becoming harder/expensive to find.
We only have one 998 block!
Steel crank as its a total waste on your balancer. If not ill find a home for it 🤣

I vote to be "engineering sympathetic" towards the block and not heavily milling it. African Mini, African crank with 6 inch rods.
