These are awesome machines for the trails! Love my 570. I still have my 2004 sportsman 400 awd with 6300 miles/1000 hours and it has been reliable as hell. I wouldn't buy a quad that someone beat to shit and mudded. Right now polaris has the rebates. You can buy a new 570 for $4600. (Wisconsin)

I have had my sportsman 500 for over 18 years and the drive system is basically the same set up as your 570. I never had an issue with anything. Never had a U-joint or CV-joint fail. The U-joints are a pain to grease, though. I can see where you don't like the plastic racks but then again, these 570 are a pretty inexpensive four wheeler.
Gary's Garage ai agree - i have 3500 miles on my 12 400HO, plow snow, ride trails and have never had any u joint issues. These are atvs - not submarines.
I bought a new 570 in 2015 and love it. It's used year round and used by many different drivers and various ages. It's been turned over on it's side and used in a lot of mud. I've done all of the maintenance myself. Replaced 2 CV boots and a faulty master cylinder. No complaints. Would buy again.
I've had the 450 for quiet sometime and haven't had a single problem with that. Mine is a 2018. I actually pulled out of a 4 runner that had you might as well call them racing slicks on it. I turned the AWD on and slowly let the 4 tires start spinning and then I had to get onto it pretty hard but they had a Can Am 1000 hook up to it and couldn't budge it. Then a Honda. It did start wiggling it a little. There was a Kawasaki 650. I don't know it would have done it because it was so high geared. I had to back up twice and he started coming out. I reallu wanted the Kawasaki but the price were so high. I do agree with you about the back end dipping a little to low. They were supposed to put adjustible shocks on mine but I didn't get them.
Thanks for that perspective. Looks like this is more trail duty rather than a super swamper which is okay but its nice to know the limits and weaknesses from someone thats being straight up.

I have never had any issues with rear axles or belts or drive shafts. Also, If you are riding in deep mud on a regular basis, you should probably buy a more powerful machine. This bike is for trails and lite farm work. BTW....if you want to sell it...focus on the positive aspects of the bike
I have a 2019 570, the blue model and its a monster in the mudd and it does amazing in the trails. But its no honda or can am and shouldn't be compared to them at all simply because of the price range. All the problems is fair in my eyes but it shouldn't be compared to them expensive power house ATV.
I think it comes down to intentions of how you ride. I’ve had 02 500HO, a pair of them that I’ve rode the p#$$ out of and had limited normal issues with, but that was when I was a bit younger. I have a pair of 2016 570 EFI that I don’t have any issue with other than heat that I fixed by wrapping the exhaust. But then again, Mama and I don’t ride like we used to 16 years ago. They are perfect for how and what we ride on.
Wow! i love my Honda Rincon!!!!!! no belt to slip, metal racks, legit rear diff, all rubber boots and seals, 3 speeds! auto/man, big red gear reduction kit 25% ;) radiator relocate kit, Aluminum rims with ITP mud lites, and overall light weight!
Mud Puppy. Great breakdown of the pros and cons on the 570. I had a loaded 2017 Hunter Edition complete with steel "rack extenders" along with steel front and rear bumpers. I thought the machine was pretty snappy and fun on the trail but it had so many pops, bangs, knocks, squeaks and buzzes that I thought it was going blow up into a million pieces at any moment! Everyone told me it was normal but I couldn't stand it. It also had more plastic than my daughter's Barby doll mansion. Anyhow, I sold it like a hot biscuit a few months ago and bought a 2018 Honda Rubicon DCT and couldn't be happier. Quality just oozes from the machine. I know you're a foot shift guy and understand your reasoning but I truly believe you'd love the DCT. It shifts smooth as butter in manual mode and the low range transfer case has to be experienced to be appreciated. Would really love to see you try one out. I know you considered it awhile back. Keep up the honest work and most of all...keep having fun !
I don’t blame ya. I bought a 570 after refusing to own a Polaris for 15 years. Had 2 in late 90s early 2000s and BOTH had major gearbox failures. Brand new my 570 clanked and had slap in the drivetrain. Apparently this is acceptable to Polaris engineers but slap in gearboxes equals a short life. I never had a Japanese bike in 20 years that had even a noticeable amount of play in the gearbox-drivetrain. Never had a Japan bike ever break on me either and we LIVED on quads everyday here in KY when I was growing up. I paid 4600 bucks for my 2016 570 base model new out the door so I’ll just ride till she blows. I am however going to put real gear oil in the rear diff-gearbox and see what happens. With the slop it has I might even pour some 75/140 in there instead of that water thin stuff Polaris recommends. Maybe it would piss them off if it actually lasts with real gear oil instead of new bike in 3-4 years. Next time I’m definitely going back to Japan made bikes I don’t care who is faster or whatever. Probably a Kawasaki or maybe a Yamaha if they have a twin by then
I hear you, My 2000 Yamaha Kodiak still runs like a charm. I've submerged, flipped it, you name it. All my Kodiak ever needs are wheel bearings, oil changes, brake pads, drive belt and occasional spark plug. I've thought about getting a Polaris, but I'll probably just buy a used Grizzly.
I have a 570 and I really like it for what we do, but all the points made in this video I agree with. Keep in mind you can get these bikes for about half of a new Honda so it's not built nearly as well, but you get what you pay for. Overall for the price I think they're decent bikes and I've beat the tar out of mine riding hard and it's only let me down once. My advice on these is if you're looking for a mud bike, look somewhere else, they hate water. If you want a trail bike that can do some work around the house and you don't want to spend $9000 it's a great buy. I bought my 2015 new as a left over in 2016 for $5500 with rebates and I've had a great time with it. I've been impressed with what it CAN do even with all the limitations given in this video which are accurate.
They are definitely a good buy. But not half the price of a Honda my Rubicon was 7500 OTD best I could find on a 570 was 6300 OTD. But the 570 has way more powa
In your opinion is Polaris or Can Am 570 a more reliable/durable machine in stock form? I'm not a super deep water rider, but do hit quite a bit of mud on trails. Thanks!
thanks for the heads up , these are things that every purchaser needs to look at ! You need to purchase a machine that suits the style of riding and as a long time offroader i found most machine under 750 cc have problems with deeper mud , i ride a smaller machine for the lighter weight i like narly forest trails the best and find the lighter weight to be easier to flick around but there are many things need to be done to protect any of the off the floor models they just don't come with enough protection for the type of riding to be done !
Honestly ive been humming and haaahhhing on what bike to buy and i completely agree. Im getting a Rubicon. More money but zero headache equals take my money.
I see from your videos that you have had both this sportsman 570 and the outlander 570. It seems you didn't like the can am very much, but how would you compare it to the sportsman as far as fit and finish, power, and reliability? I am looking at the 2 seat versions of both. I will not be mudding like you do in your videos, just trail riding. Thanks!
what about a king quad 750? would be awesome to see a review of one going through the abuse you put your Hondas through. as well as seeing what you do to fix issues you have with it. like another guy said don't really see any reviews of one that are beat on any.
I have a KQ 750, stock except 26" tires. I do wheelies, mud, deep water, logging roads, woods, you name it except sand. Nothing stops my KQ. One of the best designed air boxes that prevent flooding. I also have a small 2x4 that I've only gotten stuck 1x and I towed it out with the KQ. Would love to see more KQ videos too. Anyways, Most people complaining about what their ATV can't do from what I've seen is from a lack of experience or just not knowing how to handle a situation. A 1000 isn't going to help you if you can't get a 570 to do what you want. I have a 2x4 300 too that I have never gotten stuck with, but a friend who never rides gets stuck all the time when he ride it. The difference, experience.
I would love to see you try a CF Moto. You need to at least give them a look. Mine has been great so far and that has surprised me!! CV Tech clutching from the factory, rotax engines, yamaha's 4wd/diff lock system.
I agree that the racks really could have been setup better. I dont even mind the racks themselves being plastic, I just think they should have been mounted and secured in a better way.

Watchin this in prep for buying a 2021 570. To me mud bogging sounds like a pain in the ass to clean. I live in colorado so ill be tearing up red dirt and a little dobe mud. I know the new 570 comes with a full bumper front and back and a few different models to choose from. The new 570 fits the budget for me and I love the setups they have available. A Grizzly 700 without upgrades is smaller in stature than the polaris. The Grizzly 700 trail edition is almost 3 grand more than the Polaris 570. They are dam near the same stance and the cost is 3k cheaper than yamaha. In all reality you are paying so much more for the 700 grizz and only really gaining 125 cc at the best.
Stella Inverso I bought mine new in 2018 and love it,no problems at all,all atv’s will eventually have problems. Why didn’t he take a better look at it before he bought it?
This guy is smart and knows what he is talking about those of you that think he is stupid he will have no problem selling it I will subcripibe to this channel and you got my thumbs up and thank you for the knowledge
it's not a "bike". A "bike" has two wheels a "trike" has three so... There must be something wrong with the engine if it doesn't have enough power for you mine has tons of power however the build quality is weak. Also if you are trying to sell something you don't do it by telling everyone all the faults of the product.
Serious question... Where are all you guys from? Nothing wrong with the engine lol on paper they make 44hp at the crank. By the time that gets to the wheels after the 10-15% belt loss it's just not enough for me. My 850 on the other hand...
I have had Honda and Polaris 4 wheelers.i love them both. If you want a comfortable ride with good power that you will be riding on the trails, buy a Polaris. If you want a work horse that you can ride through the mud and last forever but doesn't ride near as comfortable with not quite as much power per cc, buy a Honda. I prefer Polaris. But I don't do much mud riding, I like trail riding. I have a 2020 Polaris 570 and a 2002 Polaris Magnum 500 4x4. The Magnum is not stock and it will outrun a Highlifter 850. My friend has one and he gets so mad when we ride and I embarrasse him in front of his girlfriend. I have had several different brands but I do like the Polaris better. I'm not sure how much I like the 570 though I haven't had it long enough.
I’m not planning on mudding to your level (I’m a novice) but I like the 570 what would you recommend doing to help it last longer? Like sealing or replacing stock parts.

You complain about the mud performance aspect of a 570 with stock polaris tires, I just bought a 450HO and the only thing I needed to do was change the tires to improve the performance in wet muddy terrain 150%, and you complain about the frame clearance when its 10 1/2 inches of stock ground clearance is the best in the industry, sounds to me like you made an impulse purchase without thinking about what you really wanted in a rig and now you blame it on the minor faults of what is essentially a starter quad, you should of gotten yourself a scrambler or just bit the bullet and went with a can am set up for mud instead of what is basically a utility/light sport quad, good luck with sale
Things I hate! Battery location, transmission, difficult steering and excessive heat on right leg. However I use it to plow a mile of road in the Winter and it does it well. But I guess you get what you pay for. I also own a Yamaha grizzly 600 and Honda Rincon 650. Honda is probably the best.

Sorry you've never owned any bikes designed properly. this might blow your mind but the grizzly doesn't have a single u-joint That's what you call proper engineering. My 850 Polaris went through 6 u joints and a year and a half

I have one for hunting and we pull some really heavy stuff with it. I think this review depends on what you are planning on using it for. We love ours.
Tom Muse I use mine for hunting and love it. The rack system sucks so I built a better one. I put a video on here about a year ago with my rack system I built. If you wanted to look at it just search polaris front rack upgrade, it should pop up. Love the bike, but the rack system is dumb.

I have the 2019 and find the clearance to be appalling. I can't even drive over a 4inch rock in the road without banging it. Other than that, no complaints after 6mos except the weak front rack/trunk setup. Have to add tie downs to make it work.
@@alaynafolk4994 - It hasn't broken. It is inherently weak. The rubber clips can not support anything tied down to the platform, hence the tie down hardware to the fender by passing the rubber clips. I use mine for kitesurfing in Baja and carry a lot of equipment front and back. Also, keep the throttle sensor wires clean or you can get a 520-194 diagnostic code that shuts the rig down.
Lol the Honda's ujoint took 30 years of a abuse... No Polaris would have tolerated 1 year of what it's been through. Plus the 300 us running a ton of ujoint angle because of the lift
Seriously dude, try a Grizzly 700 out. I know they’re underpowered but from a reliability standpoint they’re bullet proof! Get one, dog it out, put it the rough paces... and give us an honest review of it!
That sir is not a mud bike, it’s made for the other 90% of riders who go around the mud because they don’t want to be fixing their atvs every time they ride.
I know this is an older video but I had to comment. This guy is pretty much b!tching cause he couldn’t turn this trail bike into a mud buggy. It’s not Polaris fault you wanted to use this machine for the wrong application. Buy a mud buggy if you want a mud buggy not a trail bike. I have a 2001 500HO that would absolutely crush anything in its class from Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki or whoever. The bike was simply ahead of its time in its day. Yes it was a trail bike not to be used as a swamp buggy or a jet ski. It couldn’t be beat on the trails. Still have the machine. Other than a carb, a few batteries, a belt and some oil changes it still runs just as strong today. I’m looking to upgrade to the 570 and after seeing reviews where the bike was used in the proper application I have no doubt it will serve the purpose it’s intended for.
It's competition is the outlander 570. Both are utility machine... But the can am is way faster. Sorry you have one of these turds. Almost All ATVs are multi purpose these days...sport quads are dying out fast. This thing really needs more modern suspension and more power/revs
I have 6000 hard Alaska miles on 850 x2 and the front roll pin has never came loose. P.S bikes have 2 tires quads have 4 "dont call it a bike it is a 4-wheeler city boys
it is actually a great trail bike and utility machine , if you want to submarine a bike just get a sea-doo or waste your money on a can-ham . your first mistake is bashing it with such low hours , take your time on a proper break in period it makes a difference. you paid very little for that thing compared to other brands so what can you expect , and they do make steel racks . it kills me to watch people buy a lower value bike and expect the world from it. with a little care and few upgrades these things are not far behind the big bores with 1/2 the cost. walked all over honda's i roll with with this setup. th-cam.com/video/xIakJb2w8-o/w-d-xo.html .
I like how you basically said the same thing I did and then try to argue with yourself? It's a good trail bike and a decent utility bike. the steel racks that they offer bolt to the flimsy plastic so they are pretty pointless. I did not buy this bike new it was very broken in when I got it so I have no idea what you're talking about with the break-in. my main issue with it is how outdated the suspension setup is it cannot handle the power the motor puts out. Even with stock angles it went through a lot of rear axles. The suspension geometry is just goofy. With mild usage it was last five to ten years maybe but I guarantee none of these will be around in 20 years like most old Hondas are. Polaris has been using this exact same suspension for way too long they need to dump some money into redesigning all of their suspension even the 850 is pretty outdated. Also way too many parts on this thing are stamped made in China.
I honestly can’t stand Polaris stuff. It seems pretty good until you look into how it is built and how hard it is to work on. I have had nothing but problems with anything Polaris i have ever put my hands on.
I don't understand why anyone thinks anything will last in the mud? Mudding machines is abusing the machine. That is why "every" machine fails after being subjected to unreasonable amounts of mud and water, even honda won't survive it. These are trail machines, no dealer or company ever says..." this is a mud machine"......4 wheelers and side by sides ARE NOT BOATS!
@@WilliamStewart1 thank you for informing me I had no idea... Lol. XMR 570 650 and 850 are a bad joke. They have the exact same gearing as the non-xmr Can-Ams therefore they cannot turn the tires worth a s***. The only Can-Am that has mud specific hearing is the xmr1000s. They use the 6x6 transmission much stronger much lower gears. I have made about four videos trying to inform people on this... Because every time we go riding with one of those machines they blow belts left and right or differentials... The 850 XMR does have a bigger rear diff but same gear ratio

Thanks!
Popo
thanks for the heads up , these are things that every purchaser needs to look at !
That's why I bought my 2016 Can Am Outlander 1000R , its will go through and power out of anything.
Lol The only thing that piece of s*** will go through is rear differentials
Honestly ive been humming and haaahhhing on what bike to buy and i completely agree. Im getting a Rubicon. More money but zero headache equals take my money.
I see from your videos that you have had both this sportsman 570 and the outlander 570. It seems you didn't like the can am very much, but how would you compare it to the sportsman as far as fit and finish, power, and reliability? I am looking at the 2 seat versions of both. I will not be mudding like you do in your videos, just trail riding. Thanks!
Both are made ridiculously cheap but the Polaris had much lower gears so I would pick it better clutches too and true 4x4
what about a king quad 750? would be awesome to see a review of one going through the abuse you put your Hondas through. as well as seeing what you do to fix issues you have with it. like another guy said don't really see any reviews of one that are beat on any.
They way they are made everything slides off constantly
Any chance this machine get get sealed up like a Honda? Is there aftermarket to do it with this 570? Or do you have to live with it
I had my 570 for 5 years never I had any iusses on trails n mudding yes I agree on cv joints could be better on it but still it's good quad
Great review now I know why so many are for sale on Craigslist!

Dude, wheelies? Are you 17 years old? That u joint angle has NEVER been a problem and I have owned 5 Polaris bikes. U joints rarely wear out unless you submerge your bike in salt water for prolonged periods and never grease them. I have a 2000, 500 with the original u joints and thousands of miles! I have never had any issues with rear axles or belts or drive shafts. Also, If you are riding in deep mud on a regular basis, you should probably buy a more powerful machine.
I’d buy it, but I’ve already got a boat anchor.
😂😂
Great bike on paper , but they're junk .. If you want to make a mistake , then buy a Polaris.

Serious question... Where are all you guys from? Nothing wrong with the engine lol on paper they make 44hp at the crank. By the time that gets to the wheels after the 10-15% belt loss it's just not enough for me. My 850 on the other hand...

What’s your recommendation for best 4x4 ATV for the money?
Rubicon base model

The Honda is way more well made but lacks power
Do you think a Polaris. Can get a good 6 years being well taken care of .Or are the money Pits ? The Atv you have is s good looking bike ?
If you take care of it and don't abused it anywhere near like I do absolutely
You complain about the mud performance aspect of a 570 with stock polaris tires, I just bought a 450HO and the only thing I needed to do was change the tires to improve the performance in wet muddy terrain 150%, and you complain about the frame clearance when its 10 1/2 inches of stock ground clearance is the best in the industry, sounds to me like you made an impulse purchase without thinking about what you really wanted in a rig and now you blame it on the minor faults of what is essentially a starter quad, you should of gotten yourself a scrambler or just bit the bullet and went with a can am set up for mud instead of what is basically a utility/light sport quad, good luck with sale

b!tching cause he couldn’t turn this trail bike into a mud buggy.
Agree
What's your opinion on the brute force 750?
Jeremy Wattigney brute are a hoss just need to do a radiator relocation and beef up the front bumper

It’s a utility for around the yard, not a mud machine
I appreciate your honesty, thanks. Some people on here can't handlle the truth!
It’s a utility Atv, not meant for high revs and speed
It's competition is the outlander 570. Both are utility machine... But the can am is way faster. Sorry you have one of these turds. Almost All ATVs are multi purpose these days...sport quads are dying out fast. This thing really needs more modern suspension and more power/revs
What do you have for parts for the polaris sportsman 570
I have 6000 hard Alaska miles on 850 x2 and the front roll pin has never came loose. P.S bikes have 2 tires quads have 4 "dont call it a bike it is a 4-wheeler city boys
So original.
i have a 2018 sportsman and i hate that most of it is plastic
it is actually a great trail bike and utility machine , if you want to submarine a bike just get a sea-doo or waste your money on a can-ham . your first mistake is bashing it with such low hours , take your time on a proper break in period it makes a difference. you paid very little for that thing compared to other brands so what can you expect , and they do make steel racks . it kills me to watch people buy a lower value bike and expect the world from it. with a little care and few upgrades these things are not far behind the big bores with 1/2 the cost. walked all over honda's i roll with with this setup. th-cam.com/video/xIakJb2w8-o/w-d-xo.html .
A Honda Rubicon would walk all over one of these in 99% of situations and is exactly the same price out the door.
What’s some spare parts for the 570 you got laying around I could alaways use some for mine
Rear Axle, rear lift, oem belt with 100miles on on it. 4/110 adapters
Mud Puppy how much for belt
Good sales pitch lol. My uncle bought one against my advice had it week and 1/2 got rid of it for 700 kodiak. Lots of other things on that suck too.

its made cheap for sure... but super easy to work on especially compared to can ams. parts are pretty cheap too
Mud Puppy yes, that’s the only thing that I will admit about Polaris is that the parts are really cheap.

You think King Quads are second best besides Honda?
Lol no
So who's making reliable quads besides Honda?
Yamaha is pretty good.
King quads are fantastic ATVs. They might be light on power but there are upgrades to help that.
james ritch Yes they are.(:. I trash my 750. Equally as durable as Yami.
570 doesnt have enough power so I bought the xp1000 ranger too a year later. Secret of happiness is buy more than 1
Ranger ?💀💀
@@Prestonnnnnn Ranger xp1000
Dwight Schuette ranger gay lmao riding better than driving
@@Prestonnnnnn I own a large acreage and rental properties. I bought it for mainly for working and hauling wood and such. It is great for plowing snow and pulling small trees off the ground. Sometimes my large truck is too big to fit in some places and the ranger is small enough for those kind of situations. Something more sporty looks more fun for driving but I didnt buy it to go 70 mph.
