  • @cfranzoso

    Green Yellow, Red status tells the stakeholders nothing.... are you talking about a single deliverable, the whole project, are you talking about the budget (EVM). Also, risks do not cause a project to be in any other status than 'green' as they are events that might happen. Issues may or may not cause a project to go over budget or change delivery. It all depends on your issue management plan and the WBS/Schedule segment it affects..

    • @AdrianaGirdler
      @AdrianaGirdler  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Chris...thanks for watching and for your comment. They key to a good status report is to make it work for your specific stakeholders. If a stop light system doesn't work for your stakeholders...don't do it. Just ensure that you what you create is for the reader and not the writer. I have had great success with my status reports and get complimented on them from my stakeholders all the time. So for me, they work. The key to good project management is to find things that work for you and your team. All the best. Cheers!

    • @cfranzoso
      @cfranzoso 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AdrianaGirdler Too many PMs use it though. It might work for your stakeholders, but it really doesn't tell them much. It actually doesn't even give you a good view of what is happening on your project.

    What if one does a weekly report out, maybe to oneself as the PM and to the project sponsor or one`s boss and then just fill in all the weekly info into the monthly report for the wider stakeholder audience, will that work also?

    • @AdrianaGirdler
      @AdrianaGirdler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Folu, that could work but don't forget the stakeholder report needs to go to anyone that has a hand in the project.

    The 'risk' that you discuss at 10:19 is not a risk, it is an issue. Risks have not occurred yet. You should have an issue management plan, baked into your schedule with assigned resources. You even say it is an issue. You have to use the correct terminology.

    • @AdrianaGirdler
      @AdrianaGirdler  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Chris...thanks for catching this. The main point is you want to capture anything (risk and/or issues) that will impact the project in a negative way and bring it to your stakeholders attention. Cheers.

    • @cfranzoso
      @cfranzoso 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AdrianaGirdler Yes, of course...I've been a PM since 1997...PMP 14 years, MS Project Management GWU....we don't capture issues...issues need to be 'worked' or 'managed' and of course reported. Of course, you also need to analyze the risk it came from. Was it an identified or unidentified risk? Please don't be offended, but most PMs, even those with PMPs, really have only a limited understanding of project management.
