after installing bootcamp windows, you need to run Apple software update multiple times, win 10 will be much quicker.

I’m using a Macbook Pro 15’’ 2014 with daily native Windows for 10 years now. It works like a Windows laptop but with Apple hardware. Will it run better on this Intel Mac?

I'm here to try and find out how Windows 10 or 11 scales, and how it works with Macbook screens. Here's some background to my enquiry: in the old days, if you deviated away from your screen's native resolution on any Windows machine, the resulting text was slightly blurry. And although many people could accept that, I definitely can't. The problem is that I want a new laptop and I've been used to using a relatively low-res 1366x768 screen for years, but they're quite rare now and I really don't want to go higher i.e. up to 1920 (aka Full HD) or 2560 (aka QHD/ 1440p). As this is a work and browsing machine only, the resulting text would be too small for me, and even though I understand that scaling has improved in the Windows operating system in recent years, deviating so far from the technical native resolution is probably going to bug me... unless it's an exact 2:1 scale.
By that, I'm referring to the way that Apple laptops have, say, a 2880 screen, but display the desktop at half that resolution, meaning everything is much bigger than it would be on a 2880 res Windows machine, presumably by using two pixels to one (i.e. retina display). So, I want to know if the latest Windows o/s can scale down to exactly match the current 2880 or 3072 res Apple laptop screens, and if so, is it pin sharp and have the icon-scaling issues from a few years back been solved now? Alternatively (and it has been impossible to find anything at all about this), will the latest WQXGA 2880x1800 laptop screens such as those fitted to Samsung's Windows laptops scale in the same way/ perfectly if I just forget MacBooks altogether?

Does this run games well? Does it use the full potential of the graphics card? I am currently winning an Auction for a 16 inch i9 with 5500M 8GB card and 32gb ram.
Thank you for the vid was really useful.

10 months late, but this thing is a beast, I have the i7 variant with 16gb ram and 5300m 4gb. I can run genshin impact at its native resolutions, albeit 45+fps. But totatlly playabale at 1920 x 1200, locked on 60fps no throttles

@@mocknugget hey bro, I'm seriously considering getting an i9, 32GB, 5500M 8GB for running windows primarily. I already have m1 mac for macos so this will be most of the times running windows only. Why not any other windows laptops? Because the deal on this one is quite good that's why. I just saw a comment mentioning that the only discrete graphics available issue has been resolved with the latest drivers updates via bootcamp. Is it true? Your comment seems to be the latest here so your suggestion might be the most relevant. Should I go ahead with the purchase? How has the battery life been on your machine? Fan noise issue? And can you pls let me know the update on the graphics issue? Is windows on bootcamp now automatically switching between integrated and discrete GPU (intel & AMD)? Can you pls tell me these.. I'm taking a decision on the purchase soon...

    • @mocknugget
      @mocknugget 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@youarecorrectiamwrongbecau1338 When running bootcamp, the discrete graphics will always be in use. So your battery life will be shit just as long as any other windows laptop. If the deal is good then get it, it's a nice laptop. Also there isn't any fix for this, its just how macs work.
Battery life on windows will be shit, maybe 2-3 hours. On macos it'll last 8-10+ hours
Fan noise will be a jet engine when you're gonna play games or use applications that will use 100% of the cpu and gpu, but not noticable when you're wearing earphones

@@mocknugget got it! Thanks buddy.. I'm thinking even with discrete graphics always on, it'd still be better than an old gaming laptop so should go with it. And lastly, is there anything you'd want to warn me about using macbook pro 16 as a windows laptop always? Any drawbacks or things that I might not be aware of like this GPU issue was something I didn't know earlier.. also, I was thinking that in windows, if I format and Install the same version of windows, it activates automatically, would it be the same in macOS? Will windows activation stay after clean format? Any idea or experience on this?

Ive been running an Intel Mac for around 2.5 years now. I'm probably going to keep using it until it looses support for the next MacOS version.

I don't know how to get rid of mine. It feels like such a sunk cost of $3500 for something that still has such high specs but now only goes for ~$1000
At this point I am considering just giving it away because $1000 is just 2 months of gas money at this point.

Unfortunately not. Your Mac does have a discrete GPU, and when you run Windows on it through Boot Camp, it uses that GPU.

what is the driver support like? on my mid 2012 macbook pro with bootcamp sometimes the right click doesn't work, or the graphics drivers uninstall themselves, or the trackpad loses drivers or the audio isnt working, are any of these a problem on the 2019 macbook pro? debating whether to get m1 max or i9 with 8GB 5600m for gaming in bootcamp, thanks

I managed to pick up a 16inch 2019 MacBook i9-9980HK CPU @ 2.4GHz 8 Cores, AMD Radeon Pro 5600M with 8GB of HBM2 memory, 64GB of RAM and 4TB SSD for £1899.10 which I think is a steal with maxed out specs in mint condition.
I have MacOS and Boot Camp (windows) installed 2TB each.
Playing the following games CAll of Duty Black Ops 3, GTV 5 and Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2. All these game play on maxed setting with no frame drops for example CAll of Duty Black Ops 3 is a demanding game especially when Mods is installed with custom maps and handles this like a Champ (surprising, puts a smile on my face).
However I have one issue why is the battery draining in Bootcamp when I have the charger plugged in. Yes I am using the original 96W charger that came with the MacBook.
Do you know of a fix to this issue???
Please get back to me as soon as possible because if this is not fixable I would have to return it back because I purchased this for the power to play my favourite titles in Bootcamp thanks.

I have similar specs, what sort of frame rate were you reaching at max settings and mid settings for some of these games? Im sort of on the fence about creating the bootcamp partition as I've heard it can 'Melt the gpu and battery'. Not sure how true this is but as I use this laptop for my studies I'm not prepared to take any risk, and there seems to be shockingly little information online.
