  • Wenzel Klondike 8 Person Tent Review after 2 nights using it. We were overall happy with the layout and space this tent has. we chose the green version and it really helps blend in with the environment to not be an eye sore. we do wish it had an electric cable pass through Nd more hooks for hanging.
    set up is a 2 person job (per instructions) and not super intuitive but once you get the hang of it, it is pretty simple and quick to set up.
    we put scotch guard on it to give additional water resistance but haven't tested it in rain yet. from what i understand from other reviews it repels water well.

    I bought this tent because it was the only one with a screen room that could be zipped secure against the rain.
    The rain fly is sewn to the guy ropes with only one pass of stitches. During a bit of wind one guy rope ripped out of the fly. I plan to run an extra row of stitching on ALL of the guy ropes where they are fastened to the fly. Those are what actually support the tent body.
    I also plan to add more guy ropes by drilling a hole in the metal poles and tying off a sturdy piece of cord in a loop. I'll run an extra guy rope through that loop so that I have two more ropes to anchor the poles. Off each pole there will be an A shape of guy ropes extending to the ground.
    ALWAYS SEAL A TENT. Concentrate on the seams. They punch hundreds of holes in the tent when they sew it up. That creates hundreds of possible leaks. I work it into the seams with a paintbrush. I highly recommend "Dry Guy" or "Nikwax".

      Thanks! Its worked great in the rain but we did scotch guard everything (took about 2 cans). The only thing we would change is a power cable pass through and more places to hang some things. Honestly relatively minor and there are easy work arounds

      It was a great tent! we just sold it to Lord Thomas below. We are now building a campervan. We still have the dog pop up. Our dogs love it!

      It's been a great tent. No leaks or anything through a number of rainy camping trips. The main downside to it is lack of clips up top for hanging lights or pockets for general storage. An electric wire pass through would have also been nice but we have managed without it

    Use curtain clips to hang more lights.

    will this fit 2 queen size bed in the master bedroom?

    • @willofthemaker
      @willofthemaker  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      two might be difficult. In theory, it is 11 feet wide which would allow for two queens at 5 ft wide each. But because the corners come in so much, I'm not sure if two would fit. It would definitely be a squeeze. You could definitely do one in each room though.

    Can this be set up by one person?

    • @willofthemaker
      @willofthemaker  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Honestly, no. It would be very difficult to do that. The instructions actually call for 2 people (one person supports the middle from inside the tent while the other connects the pole). It's honestly fIrly cumbersome but once its up it is pretty solid

      I just found this tent at a thrift store ($20 only) and was able to do it by myself. You have to pin it to the ground first before trying to assemble it.

    have you used it in the rain yet?

    • @willofthemaker
      @willofthemaker  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes we have. our last camping trip a few weeks ago we got rained on. No torrential but the type of rain that comes every few hours, dumps, then leaves. We stayed dry inside the tent. The only water that got in is from the doorway and when we rolled down the windows to just have the screens only to have it rain again. Still, wasnt much.
      Before we did use it, I sprayed a couple cans worth of scotchguard over everything just to give it as much of a chance as possible. I'd recommend doing that as well just as some extra assurance.

    That's a lot of shit to deal with. Might as well get a cabin

      Some people actually prefer tent camping. Nothing wrong with that. If you prefer a cabin, might as well stay home?
