I feel the exact same way!!! I actually did my research on the company but realized that they are somewhat toxic. I’m starting to feel bamboozled and plan on quitting soon!!!
I've been at my job a week, and it was long enough to see how disorganized and chaotic it is. Everyone works 12-14 hrs a day, which they did not tell me, so I'm leaving.
I have been in the work force for 20 years and have had 4 jobs in my lifetime (2 career fields total). I quit a job recently I had only 1 month at and it was a terrible feeling and experience. Employers lie. They lie about the structure of their business, your pay, the culture, everything. Leadership at the top is the true problem with companies, not the employees.
How did you go about explaining why you left said job to potential employers? It's like walking a tightrope trying to explain a bait and switch without speaking negatively about your previous employer.
A behavior problem really makes it sound like you want to pin this in the employees. What we have is very toxic work culture in the United States. We are seeing employees jump out of one frying pan to another. Correlates with the mental health of our nation.
Some people take jobs with the intention of waiting for the job they really want to become available. It makes no since to be unemployed and broke during the waiting period.
I noticed that a lot of personalities on TH-cam panicking over this. We as employees don’t control culture/fit. Businesses don’t think twice about laying us off. I won’t think twice about a better offer.
This 100%. I watched my last CEO snap his fingers with his corporate Infinity Gauntlet and lay off half the company. It was disgusting and they act like they care, but they don't. At the end of the day they have a golden parachute. Despite not being laid off, I quit a month later.
Companies are definitely telling tall tales in the interview process. Once the candidate is onboarded and a few months into the job, they find the grass is nowhere near as green as promised so they walk.
The saddest thing for me is that companies are desperate for people but they're not willing to take the time to do what is necessary to keep them. For instance, at my last job by boss didn't want me to leave, he told me. On my last day I was expecting an exit interview or something to explain why I was quitting. I never got it. If they would have asked why I was leaving, then maybe they would adjust accordingly. If they asked me why I was quitting when I gave my two weeks I would have told them. However, no one from my supervisor and up never asked which is sad.
I've seen a lot of companies lure people in with claims of hybrid remote work, good culture, bonuses, etc. Then after a few weeks they limit the remote work, have everyone working 60 hours because they are short staffed, don't pay out the bonus, and think they can make up for it by buying a couple pizzas when everyone is still working at 7pm.
I've been fired from a dozen or more jobs in the first 90 days, one on day one and several the first week. I don't see the big deal here. If an employer can fire you on day one, why can you quit on day one?
Working/marriage is not a really good comparison. They are nothing alike. You won't get loyalty from any company. Don't give them yours. I just quit one after a month when they told me I'd have health insurance, and then told me I'd be charged double and will have to wear a mask for the rest of my time working there. (I haven't had to go to a doctor in 20+ years and last time was for stitches.) None of this was discussed prior to the job offer. I went to lunch one day and didn't go back after another round of being pulled into a conference room for "still didn't do the thing, eh? Too bad you'll just have to keep doing the other thing forever." They can eat my shorts.
I joined a company and left in 6 months. It was my only offer, I had no professional experience, I hated the industry, and had red flags from a company culture point of view they were in, but it was between getting the engineer title and continuing to flip burgers for a living.
It's not even the people. It's leadership. Open floor plan, micromanagement, and office occupancy mandates come from the top down, and even the best managers have trouble pushing back without losing their own jobs.
This is me at the moment. Seriously considering quitting my job. I left a toxic environment and joined a seemingly more toxic environment. This company can’t find its way out of a paper bag.
“Behavior problems”?! It’s not morally wrong to leave a job ever, for any reason. Companies can fire the employee at any time. Comparing job hopping to an affair is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.
Employer and employee relationship is nothing like marriage. That implies there is mutual love, trust, and respect. The current market is more like prostitution - except the employee is the pimp for once. No love in this game, just money. This is a good thing, the balance of power has shifted for once.
This is me 100%. I took a job sitting behind a desk (knowing good and well I didn’t went a desk job) but I underestimated how much I would be behind that desk. But I needed more money. I had been searching for a job for two years and this was the first and only offer I had. I’ve been there 2.5 months and I am beyond ready to get out. I am thankful for the money, It was getting to the point that pay check to paycheck wasn’t even a thing, I had too much month at the end of my money so I had to make a change.
@@superblump87 45. Yup. And one of the worst parts is, I could easily do the job in 5hrs a day. I waste a lot of time trying to look busy. I’m searching for something else. I don’t mind putting the time in, I just want it to be something I like and someplace I don’t feel like I’m wasting so much time.
@@superblump87 yes. I will one day soon. I’ve done it in the past, it was just gaining momentum and then my 2 workers quit. So I’ll start something else but in due time.
Only at crappy companies this is happening. Companies that misrepresent the job when making the contract for you to work there deserve what they get. The way I see it most of these companies are the ones breaking the agreement.
I feel like some of these personalities on dave Ramsey should actually go out their and see what exactly is going on. Employers lie straight to your face. Where I live their is a restaurant that is closed but they need people for their downtown location so they offer a management position for the closed place(closer for people in that area) but they “train” them at the other location which is 20-25 Minutes away and they end up staying their. On top of that they lie about hours, pay etc… they don’t discipline staff or even better get mad at managers(my gf used to manage said place) when they would fire someone because they show up drunk! It’s not just what you stated Ken, theirs a lot more and you should take a job to see it for yourself. The world is very different today and especially after covid people realized that they really only stayed at their job because of money; now people are starting to take their happiness into consideration and because it’s an employee market, they have options and can come and go as they please.
Well when you spend 300$ a week at the grocery store and 100 at the gas pump and you drive a Camry I’m going where the money is at my friend has a truck and it cost him 250$ a week to get to work
Ill tell you what some companies have told me. This is "At will" employment, the offer letter is not a contract! As such companies can change the terms any time they want. Ive had a few jobs that had great benefits offered in the offer letter only to recend them 30 days later in an email.
The issue is you show up to a job and the people who are supposed to cross train you doesn’t….and then they start spreading rumors and the boss doesn’t do anything. Then the new person had to figure out how to navigate on their own. Stop expecting your rock stars to train their replacement…. Either get a trainer or mgmt needs to train
I'm guilty of quiting a job on the first day or shortly afterwards. Some jobs/cultures suck so bad, that you have to walk out. You go in with a work ethic and feels more like you are in an abusive relationship. At minimum wage, I have the upper hand. They better treat me well, because everyone pays minimum wage. I don't put up wih jack.
If companies are desperate maybe they should start treating people better. People don’t just job hop for no reason, they are leaving toxic work places, toxic culture, and bad bosses. People tend to stay where they are treated well. Also, employers lie all the time about how great their company is to work for.
Hmm, that sounded more like he was attacking employees. Some may have lost their jobs because of Covid, so took the 1st job they could get. Others might be doing what they learnt from listening to this channel, working more to pay off debt.
My company under represents work flow, volume, and tasks to new hires. It takes about a month before they realize what the real job will be, and they are gone a few months after that when better pay comes along.
OR companies are selling one idea of the job and love your resume and skills, but then bait and switch you. Many of us have worked for YEARS at previous companies. There's something seriously wrong with companies today that advertise one thing and then you get on the job and they either completely change up the role on you or dump everything on you. I was recently hired as to work on a team and got on the job and surprise! No team. I was the only person. Literally. Asked everyday when others would be hired, big sign on bonuses being advertised left and right but no one took the bait. I lasted 4 months and called it quits. Worst work experience of my life and I worked for 5-8 years at my other jobs (held two jobs at the same time) while going to grad school. So this is a load of bull.
2:28 this. This was mine. I get word through the grapevine that a company is hiring, same work (supposedly) I was doing prior to relocating back to my home state. Mediocre pay, bad benefits, but it was close enough to what I was getting before. Yeah, I get there, and they're having me do like 3x the work in less-than-safe conditions (even compared to what I was doing before), wanting me to work crazy hours, and the starting pay was just a little exaggerated. So, out of curiosity, I go and look up what a pizza delivery boy makes around these parts, and was like "pfft"... Quit the same exact day.
This guy needs to work on his stand up and needs to stick to a point of view. This is America and it is a free market. All jobs are 1099. Sure they offer benefits but they only last as long as the company can benefit. People will go where they are treated best. Just that simple.
I have 3 people on my team I cannot stand. They think beyond a shadow of a doubt they are the personal boss of everyone, not to mention they never stop talking and preaching and gossiping how the rest of us are not competent, even if everyone is doing great and working hard. No matter matter what i do they are watching me every time I look over at them.. people are so freaking insane.
I worked for 40 years, had a few jobs. The shortest I ever stayed was 3 days, the longest was 13 years and it was the best job ever. I'm still friends with my former co-workers. It takes time to settle in to a job, learn all you can and be the best you can be. It will pay off in the end.
i wish i could stay that long. but the base pay is barely able to get by. and then employers give out 3% raises or cost if inflation negation. im sorry but i need a substantial raise to keep staying with same company.
I quit my cleaning job after 6 days because I was miserable, too much was expected of me, and I clearly wasn't fit for the job. I was screamed at for failing to deliver. I turned in my notice the next day and fucked off right then and there. I saw no reason to keep doing a job that posed too much of a risk to my mental and physical well-being.
The solution to that turnover problem is “if you don’t want people to screw you over by leaving in 3 months, then don’t screw them over with bear minimum wages & benefits” this problem has a simple solution but employers egos won’t allow them to fix the problem. They don’t see the elephant in the room.
2nd situation for me. Job description was change, office location change to more than an hour away after a month of starting the job. Boss never show appreciation also. The raise was suppose to have after 3 months probation has slide under the carpet. I do get the guilt after i hand in the resignation letter and also i don't have a plan after i exit....but I trust God will open another door for me.
Do they still have temp agencies out there? Way back when I found some really interesting jobs by working for temp agencies. Almost all of them wanted to hire me permanently after getting to know me and I got to work for companies I never would have know existed. The only drawback was when I was working temp I had no medical benefits, but I really enjoyed working temp. I could go into the job, clean up some of their messes and move on or stay. I also didn't have to get involved in office politics. I just went in every day, did the job to the best of my ability and went home.
Don't go through a temp agency, they will tell the same lying tales as the companies that hires them to posts jobs on the job boards and websites...trust me, I worked for about a year as a 3rd party IT consultant through a temp agency.
During the pandemic I almost started a job but the manager lied by omission about safety issues as a cause of them needing to hire. She never told me about a girl who was attacked while working. Thank God her sister did. Noped the fuck right out of there. Also the last thing is “to be coached daily” Aka micromanaged. Give me my work, let me do my work without distraction and politics. Leave me alone. And pay more. Want me to see a “better future” with you? Pay more and offer a flexible schedule or remote.
Meh, most companies act in their own selfish way through hiring - they ghost job applicants or only interview you because they needed to interview one other candidate before making an offer to the person “they already had in mind” …survival doesn’t account for looking beyond the paycheck. Sometimes when a company actually gives you the time of day (you have about a 25% chance of getting an offer after one interview) you take what you can get. No wonder divorces end over 50% of the time- most guys accept what they can get in a woman, and they have to deal with that decision everyday until she serves him divorce papers. Beauty is not in the eye of the beholder in the male brain.
This video hit the nail on the head. Lying about culture and pay just to get you in and then guilt trip you into not quitting.. i feel so guilty but im trying to plan my exit in the most graceful way possible despite the people im dealing with
i thought about culture, I thought about fit. I was lied to about the team I am managing. I was told that these people need to upskill. They are borderline mentally impaired with no computer skills or interest to work. All are in their 60 or 70's (wont retire). Im three months in and Im looking for another role.
Maybe because: My grandparents didn’t finish junior high let alone highschool and were able to get a job and work and have enough money when they stopped working in their 40s, but now I can’t afford fucking groceries?
Was recruited from BBT to IHG… They got me in there and didn’t deliver… boss quit (or got let go after 2 months) I stayed to give them a chance to redeem themselves (they never did… the con got worse…) and out of concern for how a short stay would look on my resume…. I’ve given it a good 10 months… not giving them more than that…
The driving commute to work is the most common reason why I switched 3 jobs in one year. One of the jobs paid $18/hr, but severely damaged my personal life to the point where I hated thinking about work. I am sick and tired of where I live because I had to move back in with older relatives. I am 3 months away from moving back to the city where I can catch a train/bus for convenience. Central Florida fukking sucks.
Leaving my job after 9 mos due to my team being toxic. Its our CPO and shes a horrible narcissist. Yells at people in our team meeting and talks about other leadership like our team doesn't do the same thing. There were lies told during my interview about her leadership style and I never met her beforehand. They purposely didn't have her interview me. Now I'm leaving and it's a nightmare since she can't fathom me being happy elsewhere and wants my employer information to the point of texting coworkers to ask me and give her the answer. It's crazy
I just hate the jobs I've worked,. Like workplaces where you have to learn from your juniors, then it dawns on you that you will never get the respect you deserve from them ... I hate it i have quit quite severally because of that like now i just want a job that i don't have to rely on my juniors for training, i just want to work in a respectable manner
Ramsey team definitely seems to not understand modern era employment. And if they like to think they're awesome employers, news flash, others are not. And since Ken wants to use marriage as an example, same way some people have wonderful marriages, others have horrendous ones. Just because something "should be" a certain way, doesn't mean it is, and right now it is by and large NOT the employees' fault. Almost everyone I know who has quit a job has done so because the management was in complete disarray or their direct or next up boss was on a power high and happily throws people out. In your marriage example, maybe the dude is 3 months in looking for a new woman because the one he married did a 180 once she figured the deal was sealed. Two sides to this story.
Love your analogy on the 180 after the deal was sealed. That's been an issue in some of my relationships. It's mind boggling that people think that strategy is going to work long term.
I literally left a role after almost three months. Bc they had no training scheduled. Left for a new role that has even more onboarding issues. They didn’t show me step by step how to do anything. By the fourth day of my first week I didn’t even want to get out of bed to go to work. Just to be overwhelmed to the max. I want my old job back that i had before these two roles. I know im not the issue. That companies are just horrible with training and a lot of other things. But im starting to this im the damn problem. This job doesn’t want anyone talking to each other, no cells on desk or can be used, management watches how often u get up to leave the room/bathroom, can’t even eat at ur desk. Feels like prison of some sort. What should i Do !
Currently in a job with an overwhelming amount of office work with only 5 days of PTO after being there for a year. Planning on quitting soon once I find a new job.
Its not looking for a offair. The jobs are not good. When you come into a position its not what they represent. I have worked 50 years had positions in this time frame I had positions 10.5 years 14 years. You did your job mulit tasked the customer came first you protected the company the owners to make profits 📈. Coming back after retiring out for 3 year's its changed. Cell phones 📱. Narkisist bi polar management in some cases not all corporations. People that call off leaving the work to be done shorting the production will to be put on there to make up the difference. No one unless there not normal wants to work a 12 hour day to do what it normally take 8 hours to perform. New peope entering the positions to leave at the lunch time or work one week. They just drop out. Management isn't what it once was. You dont need to burn yourself out over achieving filling positions because these people don't want to work. Many times its just not a good fit the jobs are not what its represent it to be. HR manager's and employees need to be more open know of the positions they are filling. The pay at times is not compensating for the employees that are doing the work the normal entitlements as well as additions to additional work being added on. Its changed so much has changed in the working world. Get real clean it up with compensating manager's. No one wants to be a straw boss. 50 years under my belt strawboss for all of us of 50 years of dedicated service know this term. Regards Joel
"Modern management" appears to have adopted the attitude that employees are just widgets on an org chart. My last job, after the last 2 acquisitions, developed this mentality. Even folks like me with 20-30 years service were disposable. I retired but saw many dedicated people who were shown the door.
Around 4 years is a common time for people to exit. If you are losing people in 3-6 months it is a failure on you as a company. Either you fail in training them/mentoring them giving them opportunities. Or you failed in your recruiting and take the first pulse that walked in the door because you don't like conducting interviews.... Sadly the taking the first person with a pulse is to common and they are not getting QUALITY CANDIDATES. Take your time in the interview process and build a team that has experience already and get them up to speed so they can properly train the new staff coming in with little to no experience.
So, at 2:17, it's the employees fault???? What you see on a quick tour and what you see when you work there are 2 entirely different things. Me, I wouldn't think twice. If I think I'm being under paid for the work I do or the responsibilities I have, I WILL SPEAK UP.
Sounds like Ken has never been in a toxic job before and still living in the 90s when job hopping was frown upon. I work in IT where most people dont stay no more than 2 years at a company. This isnt the 90s anymore Ken, you got to give advise that is current in today's job market
The company said they have values in the interview, that they actually don’t. How do I choose a great company to work for, when they lie? Reviews online completely unhelpful. I knew some employees who said the culture was “ok, could be better” did not elaborate. Certainly dependent on your manager as well, and your specific circumstances especially in a global company so you can’t really ask for what someone else thinks is important.
In my case it was misrepresenting the leadership. I will take responsibility that I may not have asked enough questions. However, I was very clear on what I was looking for. A supportive, collaborative environment with a work life balance. This supervisor creates chaos and confusion (heavy narcissist traits) no collaboration and already doing work above my pay grade. So disheartening. I see an issue with companies not knowing how to review their leaders. This person has been in his job for quite awhile and is given complete authority over others. Bummer.
carpenter was told i there was alot of growth and id get a raise after 6 months then a year later still no raise and no benefits skilled labor is a lie what they tell you
I'm not sure if you get it Ken. #1 is the workers are a problem and #2 the corporation is lying to you. Trying to compare your job to your marriage. You're way off base amigo. The job providers are finally getting a little taste of thier own medicine and you think it's a little bit from both sides. Gonna go ahead and back the workers on this issue 90% of the time.
These millennials are gonna have to get to the realization that they are just another expense. No more important than the lease or electric. They are just another line in the expense column.

Let me guess, you're behind that desk about 40 hours a week? Welcome to the real world where the harder/"crappier" a job is, the more it pays.
@@amandawalker1196 welcome to the real world. Sounds like you should start a business.
@@superblump87 yes. I will one day soon. I’ve done it in the past, it was just gaining momentum and then my 2 workers quit. So I’ll start something else but in due time.
This is because people are waking up and wont tolerate shitty management and companys anymore
Where I live their is a restaurant that is closed but they need people for their downtown location so they offer a management position for the closed place(closer for people in that area) but they “train” them at the other location which is 20-25
Minutes away and they end up staying their.
My new job showed me a board of all of the staff. 90 percent of them are no longer at the company. I was like wow I feel set up.
My boss was very rude and toxic. I just left my job in less than a month there. I just couldn't deal with it anymore
Thank you!!!
I enjoy quitting now
OR companies are selling one idea of the job and love your resume and skills, but then bait and switch you.
Get out of there.
Get out now!!!
Good for you👏🏾
The solution to that turnover problem is “if you don’t want people to screw you over by leaving in 3 months, then don’t screw them over with bear minimum wages & benefits” this problem has a simple solution but employers egos won’t allow them to fix the problem.
In life you have to try to see if you fit in and dosnt always work out
Do they still have temp agencies out there?
You're not owed a job or a woman.
@@tnotc Employers aren’t entitled to unilateral loyalty.
@@tnotc And employers aren’t owed a labor force.
I absolutely agree with you!!! Shows how messed up the job market is nowadays. Capitalism and modern day slavery of employees is highly prevalent!!!!
It's crazy
Yes a lot of companies are misleading in the interview and in the training and the onboarding!!!!
Most employer will not give you an accurate description of what the job entails etc
1:25 a job is not a marriage.
My employer shit on us. I work as Transit Bus driver. My employer cares more about people who don't pay vs there own employees
Coleman and Ramsey are smart dudes, can’t blame them for being out of touch; considering how quickly the world has changed in less than 3 years.

Joel
This is SPOT ON! Thank you for the vindication!
Lies on job’s description, for me.
What told several lies …… for me it is only a paycheck. Grateful for the 💰.
I was lied to about my job
In my case it was misrepresenting the leadership. I will take responsibility that I may not have asked enough questions. However, I was very clear on what I was looking for. A supportive, collaborative environment with a work life balance. This supervisor creates chaos and confusion (heavy narcissist traits) no collaboration and already doing work above my pay grade. So disheartening. I see an issue with companies not knowing how to review their leaders. This person has been in his job for quite awhile and is given complete authority over others. Bummer.
Ken is awesome for this.
carpenter was told i there was alot of growth and id get a raise after 6 months then a year later still no raise and no benefits skilled labor is a lie what they tell you
Now. Sometimes people need money they have bills to pay. People that look at job fit are those with alternatives
Its the workers you currently have. They make the workplace toxic for new employees.
Companies lie about how the culture is though too.
No cuz comparing job commitment to a marriage is wild
And your job is talking on TH-cam not everyone can get an easy outing like that
Some cultures don’t reveal themselves during the interview.
These millennials are gonna have to get to the realization that they are just another expense. No more important than the lease or electric. They are just another line in the expense column.
Along with employers realizing they’re simply a means to an end, not intrinsically deserving of any loyalty or respect.
Lol the lease and electric are more important
Dont treat your people like baseballs to a bat or they will leave
