This man didnt start doing comedy until he was an old man. He worked hard to support his family and gave up on his dream to become a comedian and went through alot in the process. Glad he was able to pursue his dream. This man is a legand.
Rodney Dangerfield is as good as it gets. He delivered time and time again. You can't hate the fella when his jokes are factual and thoughtful... an the delivery of his punchlines are perfect. What??? There was a censorship board. Lucy and Desi had to have twin beds in their bedroom on the “I love Lucy show.” Kids were not allowed to stay up and watch the “Johnny Carson show.” It started at 11pm nightly. All TV turned off after “the Joe Pyne show” (right-wing talk show) by about midnight or 1am. There were only 13 channels of TV. Censorship was strict and enforced. Even a lot of adults didn’t watch Johnny Carson because it was too late at night. Most women never heard these wife jokes. People were not more tolerant. I keep hearing this regurgitated argument from people who want things to be like the 50s and 60s when they were little kids. It’s not true! Stuff happened back then!

I was 11 when Back To School came out, it became my favorite comedy, but until I started see these Carson clips on TH-cam, I had no idea that so many of his Back to School jokes were part of his lifetime work! In fact, I had no idea that he had been a regular on Carson, which I watched nearly every night before I went to sleep. I only had seen his Show Times series. He is one of the greatest comedians of all time!
My favorite Rodney joke is "I went to the dentist and asked that the new tooth would be just like the real one. He gave me a tooth with 3 cavities". 😅 We would never miss him whenever he was on tv. My dad, who had a great laugh, was a huge fan of Rodney's and he'd hardly able to breathe when the jokes were coming quick.

Rodney was a comedic machine gun. Even though it's common practice for some comedians to buy jokes, Rodney created a character and he sold these jokes. My favorite parts of these videos is Rodney cracking up Johnny Carson. There's one where there's a pause at the end of his material and he turns to Ed McMahon and guest James Mason and asked, (paraphrasing) 'So, what's up with you?' Carson was doubled over. When he said he got the walks he was making a layered joke about how slow old people are and how people develop intestinal issues when they go to Mexico. So, instead of getting the runs - he got the walks.
