Yes indeed!!! I bring this album up a lot to so called real hip hop heads and half of them don't know what the hell I'm talking about or heard of it but never listened to this album before. I was a fan as a shorty from day one! A young lady who ran a record store outside of Detroit put me on to Just Ice! She would hook me up with all the new stuff because she had a crush on me but when I tried to push up on her she'd always say I was too young for her. Rest her soul, she hooked me up with lots of early hip hop music!

    Brooklyn.
I had no idea just I was from Brooklyn. He was not too far Mo Love from Ultramagnetic MC's. He was not too far from Spike Lee. And he was not too far from Dana Dane.
So, he is from Fort Greene. No wonder I saw him on Myrtle Avenue one time. I'm surprised that I never even saw him before that, and I'm from around there.

Jayquan ✌. They did a documentary about black spades not long ago. Justice right about Mario and kool Herc. Interview Cholly Rock. Original B-boy early like 1974 or 75. Mario also had dj Sinbad dj Tex ( first hip hop Puertorican DJ). Interview Mario brother. He's still around. Michael Wayne or Fat Mike was 1st division black spades with Mario and Sinbad. This interview, went EXACTLY as I had predicted it would go. And I laughed about it, the whole time I watched!
    A few things:
    - The HS, on E. 174th, is Monroe HS. Flash, Bambataa, Jazzy Jay, etc played there. I lived a block away, on Bointon Ave.
    - Skate Key, was located on White Plains Rd, and not in Soundview. The roller skating rink, on Soundview, was Skate Palace (currently Cablevision).
    - According to a BDP interview, from 1987, on either Rap Masters, or Word Up magazine (can't recall), KRS1 states that Just-Ice, was ( and I'm paraphrasing) "scheming" to rob him (KRS), and Scott LaRock. And somehow, Scott de-escalated the situation. That was (according to the interviewer) their first encounter. This is the same interview, where Scott states that BDP NEVER battled Melle Mel.
    - Rumor has it, that Just-Ice went in strapped, AND alone, into Queensbridge, looking for MC Poet, and had the whole projects shook.
    - There's a 1994 single, that FunkMaster Flex, used to play on HOT97, of Just-ice, rocking over Bob James. I don't know the title. And never heard anywhere else, but on Flex's segment. It's not on any of his albums, and nobody I know has it, less heard it. I even asked Just, and he doesn't even know. He's doing a "rapid fire" style, reminiscent of his early days, before he'd slowed down his pitch. If anybody has this joint, HMU.

I disagree, the interviewer is saying things like 'um' and 'uh huh' and has his set questions, but isn't making the conversation flow, he isn't giving him a chance to focus, he keeos moving onto the next question. Maybe it's because he has a lot of questions he wants to get through and also Just Ice is on his phone, it may have flowed better if it was actually face to face.

Great Lesson with Just Ice just so much rich history especially the Audubon Ballroom how he couldn't get in due to his age. His keen history of his club history. Melle Mel influenced him to be an MC. Great sense of humor by Just Ice. His understanding of writing his own rhymes not wanting others to do it. Learning how he made records from understanding from La Di Da Di inspired to do Latoya. Compliment the music.
How Just Ice met Kurtis Mantronik. Afrika Islam was his DJ learned about that. Great sample music from dynamic corvettes. Amazing how Just Ice showed you his equipment from the music he plays. Disco King Mario and Herc were very interesting info. A lot of jewels dropped by Just Ice. Learning how he collaborated with KRS ONE and met each other . Interesting info about Jaz O and Jay Z how he was a DJ.
    Overall great live Lesson

Theres some dropped knowledge in those MW vids. And their opinions arent tainted or coloured by fame, money or political correctness coz they arent in the business and they can be as honest as they want about their history. I say 'their' because i guess there are many histories out there depending upon the geographical area and each is just as valid and important to tell as the next mans.
Peace JQ. You do such an immense job for us and the cause. And you do it with such passion and professionalism. You should be well proud and pleased with yourself. Please ... keep it up coz its mighty appreciated by us.

Reggae is just as pertainent in n.y. music culture as hip-hop. The 80s and 90s were all about the combination. I guess we have Herc to thank for that . Shabba and them didn't sound like marley and tosh. You heard a hip-hop influence in the dub session songs. I miss those days😞
