thanks for the honest review, i played the tech test and both told me it was designed around the shops and making player feel the need to spend money to avoid wasting time. time sinks that they have artificially made to make the game less fun... they want the game to be just fun enough to play but not too fun. ill be skipping this 1.
I honestly think this for of monetization is ideal for free to play games. The way i look at it you either grind in the gamr or gind un real life (at your job) to get what you want. So that if you only have a few hours free due to your work schedule you can still participate in end game with out haveing to spend weeks or months getting there that people that have more time at there disposal can get there in days
You got yourself a new subscriber. I see your comments of full of people who actually defend the pay-to-win monetization, so they clearly aren't the audience your channel is geared toward. I am your target audience and there are many of us. The false dichotomy of pay to win vs a tedious grind is a straw man. Progression should be based on skill. Easy to pick up, hard to master type gameplay. Keep your focus and your identity, you're doing great.
@cb6667 ESO is "FORCING" coop. Coop should always be optional, and skyrim is mmorpg. The Division 1 and 2 are also ONLINE. The enemy can be bullet sponge, but you can still play solo and beat the bosses alone. Not in ESO when it comes to bosses. Solo-ing will require hours of grind before you can ever kill the boss. Idk about this one. What do you think?
The money spending does sound like a turn off but all this stuff is optional and gives no advantages during combat but I don't mind spending maybe $10-20 for a prime version of my favorite character
@@aldeonuwu2634 always remember this, if you earn things by playing the game, and the gameplay is actually fun - then by paying money to skip something you actually just shoot yourself in the foot lmao.. because at the end of the day when you get all the items/characters etc you wanted to get you just stop playing..

Time and Money are two sides of the same coin. Some may have lots of time and others may have lots of money. In the end, both groups will attain their goals.
Ill give the game a shot…. From what ive see so far it looks stunning….. we should expect monetization in F2P games by now and its entirely up to the individual if they want to spend money instead of putting time into the game. Hopefully this game can go longer than a few months before getting stale
Free to play gotta make money somewhere. Those updates, new characters, mods, modes, etc don't come cheap. And they also have to keep you grinding so that there are always players. Warframe and Destiny thrived on this, and if they keep up with demand and listen to feedback this game can definitely last
yeah so i was curious about this game but the fact that its free to play and clearly has features that are behind a pay wall or at the very least take a long time to grind already turns me off. like i am sick and tired of games that have a ton of fun features behind pay walls in games like this or in general.
I really wish this was a buy-to-play game. I know it's just not the way of the industry anymore, but damn I miss paying full price and that being it. The game looks like a lot of fun, but I'm not sure I'm gonna get stuck in knowing how aggressively monetized and pay-to-win it is.
Never thought nexon would put out a game of this quality. Paywalling is standard nexon. But i miss playing their games..even if most are mediocre at best. This game looks amazing.
But it is literally a pack with the comestics plat and free boosters but usually the people who buy those welp that plat usually goes back into the market so it's all good
I don't know but i feel its gave less of challenges, especially i remember playing destiny 2 which sometime you need to dodge actively to stay alive specially beginning of game.
So basically if you have a gambling problem and constantly compare yourself to other players then don’t play this game. If you have no issues with just playing with the equipment you grind and play with friends then it’s fine to play?
This game lives and dies by the games character abilities. If they don't add more powerful and additional abilities the game will not last. The shooting aspect is already done in abundance. If you want to stand out do something others aren't doing.
Thanks for a very objektive and (At least here on TH-cam) a very very intresting and great review! That not only brings up the bad of a game... And its quiet clear you enjoy the game your self. But still look at it with open eyes. I also do also agree with everything you say; ...so no issue what so ever. But I might be alone in this...and its seams just because a game HAS microtransaction its...BAD and need to trashed these days? I mean as long as you can play the game in what "Most of us gamers" feels is a reasanbale pace to progress. Do it really matter that much that I know there is a easier way or faster way to buy somthing in the shop? I mean as long as (In a alot of game before) they ess. locked stuff behind a paywall wich is a HUGE F--- "Never play the game Ever issuie" :))....... Its does not feel like that is the case here? Its feels more like its a, dear I say, human issuie were..."They way of least resistent" is to hard to pass up? But do that make the game less bad beacuse we can´t resist to play the game at are own pace? A game were you play mostly with friend or not competing with anyone but your self (As long ofcourse they game is based so it is possible an it feels like progression in sound and fair..)... Yes I agree that buying stuff if the progression require it.. Sucks!! But dont feel that si the case... Though be it I am only level 15 and open 3 charaters... So I probabaly is out of place here :))
I still gave it an 8, for that reason. But it absolutely needs to be addressed as part of a critical discussion/assessment, especially for those who may not be aware that it's a cornerstone of the game's design and progression systems.
I feel like I explained in the review that experiencing the free content can feel less enjoyable when the progression systems have been designed around making free play and grinding considerably less convenient than paid shortcuts.
@whatsnewvideogames You did explain that. Still, I don't quite think that it's anything that would tank the gameplay especially since the grind for items is considerably less tedious and time-consuming than other looter shooters.
@whatsneevideogames Your emphasis that a free game give you the exact game play you want and not monetize anything is a bit detached. Warframe did this same thing successfully and without the crying about it. TLDR; Your take on It feels entitled as hell.
TY for your honesty we need more critical thinkers like u or r games will suck :) & your not the only 1 that gets attacked by angry fanboys for just speaking your mind🤐
Hmm I'll give this a playthrough. I'll see how end game is and if it is okay, I'll shell out the equivalent to buying a game which is around $40 to $70 dollars. Not going to buy any descendants, I'll grind the ones I can and the ones I can't welp. That would be the end of the game for me.
We will see how invasive monetisation will be and how will that fly over here in the west. Destiny 2 just had a nose dive, hopefully Descendant can learn something from that before it's too late.
You dont have to buy stuff if you are a whale by the things you need if you dont care and like the grind get it for free...the games free they gotta make money some how.. aslo all future dlc and updates are free win win realy.
So its Warframe but made by people that moslty works with gatcha games. Yep, this is going to end up well. The only thing I received from this game, was audio from the main title screen and that was it.) I had to power down my PS5 via my controller, just to be able to back out of the game and get any video at all back, from my PS5. At the moment...I am also downloading it to my PS4, in an effort to trouble-shoot the problem. No doubt the creators need an income. But as always it is the question through which means this income is generated. So called business practices matter and in video games it shows in its design: up to which point is it a game or a mechanism exploiting addiction? Having an visually appealing game is always nice but what lies hidden beneath the hood? Every gamer wants to reward the devs of their favorite game with decent income. If it's fair play and not maximum predatory business practices. And that's why reviewers need to talk about monetization. In the past many people fell prey because of not knowing what they're getting into. So, absolutely justified and a proper review.

Your attitude towards the monetization really turned me off of this review. It’s literally the only critique you had of the game, nor do you mention you can grind everything in the game. Maybe don’t play any F2P games? And your comments kind of come off as a little dickish. Not saying you need to kiss everyone ass by any means but yeah… good luck with your channel just leaving some feedback
It's not a misplaced comparison, I'll warrant. I think the main difference is people generally didn't want Anthem, whereas a lot of people genuinely want this game and want it to be what it is: fun, functional, and competent.
This guy thinks having player choice and being able to fast track your progression thru microtransactions if you don't have the time to grind out everything is a bad thing. If that was the case then "casual players" wouldn't play free to play games and the devs wouldn't make any money or have any player engagement outside of the few people that have the time to grind for hundreds of hours.
He made an entire argument about a f2p game having methods to generate income as a pay for convenience. It’s like he’d rather it be p2w. As a person who works 40hrs a week and does OT often I’d rather buy than waste 50-100 hours grinding for something I don’t need. That’s a flaw argument for a review
Bro. Go play warframe. Don’t bitch about the micro transactions because these are nothing compared to other games. And live service games that are FREE TO PLAY need an income too. Bad take.
@@UniquelyAwful ... there is no early access to this game you massive clown... and if there was they wouldn't let a random get early access when more relevant streamers and content creators exist.
If micro transsactions is the only downside to a free game 🤔 then approach it ignoring ALL micro transactions... It does not affect you in any way shape or form. Being free will involve support from the community, so whenever the person feels that they can support the game, then do so, if not, well you don't have to... Having the choice to do so or not, actually overcomes the negative aspect of it... I did the exact same thing with Warframe and Destiny and others. The choice is there, some games don't give you that luxury. Just saying!

thanks for the honest review, i played the tech test and both told me it was designed around the shops and making player feel the need to spend money to avoid wasting time. time sinks that they have artificially made to make the game less fun... they want the game to be just fun enough to play but not too fun. ill be skipping this 1.
I get off work at 8 am I will be a bad ass bunny for sure that one shot is lovely
How high is the level of grinding here? I trashed Skyrim Online because it forced coop to kill the boss or otherwise thousands hours of grinding.
Very high.
@@whatsnewvideogames Oof
So you buy elder scrolls ONLINE and then get upset you need to coop ? Just skip this game it’s not for you Bec you need to coop again
There u're forcing people to spend money, wake up guys, is a Korean game, even more cuz is a nexon game
@@aldeonuwu2634 always remember this, if you earn things by playing the game, and the gameplay is actually fun - then by paying money to skip something you actually just shoot yourself in the foot lmao.. because at the end of the day when you get all the items/characters etc you wanted to get you just stop playing..
@@freezxng_moon exactly, if u pay for everything there is no fun, i like to grinde the things i want even if they are just skin but I want the possibility to do so, I dont want to be forced to pay for shit
Facts
Idk about the market in game,as long you can farm the things in game we cool, warframe does it
Where is ultimate toxic leyna ._. Take my money they got me just with that character
what can you NOT buy?
That is a pretty good question.
Free to play gotta make money somewhere. Those updates, new characters, mods, modes, etc don't come cheap. And they also have to keep you grinding so that there are always players. Warframe and Destiny thrived on this, and if they keep up with demand and listen to feedback this game can definitely last
Good review. I just wish the loot was weapon drops instead of mats to craft weapons (warframe style).
yeah so i was curious about this game but the fact that its free to play and clearly has features that are behind a pay wall or at the very least take a long time to grind already turns me off. like i am sick and tired of games that have a ton of fun features behind pay walls in games like this or in general.
i agree with u this game its good BUT the devs need to stop the shady BS or its not going to fly
I really wish this was a buy-to-play game. I know it's just not the way of the industry anymore, but damn I miss paying full price and that being it. The game looks like a lot of fun, but I'm not sure I'm gonna get stuck in knowing how aggressively monetized and pay-to-win it is.
I mean, technically, it’s not paid to win. You can grind the characters too, but people will mostly buy them because they’re too lazy.
Never thought nexon would put out a game of this quality. Paywalling is standard nexon. But i miss playing their games..even if most are mediocre at best. This game looks amazing.
aint gonna lie, 60 bucks for a "prime" version of each character.. what the fuck
Don't buy it then?
It's just like Warframe's prime access buy Prime Warframe immediately $ or straight up farming.
But it is literally a pack with the comestics plat and free boosters but usually the people who buy those welp that plat usually goes back into the market so it's all good
Bruh Ultimates are free to grind man, it's literally just like Warframe but a bit harder to grind since the game will be brand new.
Nobody is forcing you to buy anything. You can earn all descendants in game, and that includes ultimates
I don't know but i feel its gave less of challenges, especially i remember playing destiny 2 which sometime you need to dodge actively to stay alive specially beginning of game.
Ya some people love these games but don't have as much time as other people so having the option to pay for convenience is just fine
ANTHEMMMM 2.0 !!!!
It would be generous to give this game a 7 let alone an 8
So basically if you have a gambling problem and constantly compare yourself to other players then don’t play this game.
You don't have to pay anything if don't want to it's a free game and they need to make money to keep it going
I still gave it an 8, for that reason. But it absolutely needs to be addressed as part of a critical discussion/assessment, especially for those who may not be aware that it's a cornerstone of the game's design and progression systems.
@@whatsnewvideogamesthe battle pass is 10 bucks and cosmetics will be locked behind paywall you won’t get cosmetics just by unlocking them most likely
Ore u can implement a player to player trade that makes u get premium currency without making the game even more grindy like warframe does
@@whatsnewvideogamesdo you want it to be Buy 2 Pay instead?? then F2P cant play it 😢
@aldeonuwu2634 it will be implemented. That was confirmed by the devs themselves.
This is going to be the classic korean game that start good but after a tear became extreamely p2w or p2play
Don’t really care about buying shortcuts in a co op game. I would be happy to have a spender on my team
Why is he complaining that all the content isn't free when the game itself is free and all future dlc is free as well?
I feel like I explained in the review that experiencing the free content can feel less enjoyable when the progression systems have been designed around making free play and grinding considerably less convenient than paid shortcuts.
@whatsnewvideogames You did explain that. Still, I don't quite think that it's anything that would tank the gameplay especially since the grind for items is considerably less tedious and time-consuming than other looter shooters.
@@hades2659 I mean, I did give it an 8.
I wouldn't use the word "tank" to describe any aspect of this game.
@whatsneevideogames
Your emphasis that a free game give you the exact game play you want and not monetize anything is a bit detached. Warframe did this same thing successfully and without the crying about it. TLDR; Your take on It feels entitled as hell.
Are you showing spoilers of the game??
Not that I'm aware of?

Ok thanks for review hype test this Game 😀
Hmm I'll give this a playthrough. I'll see how end game is and if it is okay, I'll shell out the equivalent to buying a game which is around $40 to $70 dollars. Not going to buy any descendants, I'll grind the ones I can and the ones I can't welp. That would be the end of the game for me.
Very nice review, thanks!
Thank YOU 🙂
We will see how invasive monetisation will be and how will that fly over here in the west.

Thank you Rudiggz, appreciate ya!
This game crashed my PS5. When I clicked on Play(it went to a black screen...not only that....but this game also prevented me from getting any video at all...not even my menu screen! WTF!?? The only thing I received from this game, was audio from the main title screen and that was it.) I had to power down my PS5 via my controller, just to be able to back out of the game and get any video at all back, from my PS5. At the moment...I am also downloading it to my PS4, in an effort to trouble-shoot the problem. Initially...I thought that perhaps, the server was overwhelmed...but that wouldn't explain this horse-sh*t.
That's pretty weird, but the game isn't available to play yet though, right?!
You do realise the game isn't even out yet right?
@@wraithhe 2 days ago...I saw the trailer & it was slated for July 2nd....but earlier yesterday, I got an unexpected notification on my Playstation that the download was available. I then thought there was some sort of mix up about the release dates. Also....WTF would there be a download, if it wasn't ready to play?? Eventually...I thought that perhaps, the download was 2 days early for the purpose of avoiding server overloads(from a sh*t-ton of people all downloading it the same day? Moreover...I generally don't pre-order or buy games on launch day...so it was confusing to me.
I would rather pay a fee to buy the game which includes everything instead of F2P and to be forced to pay for many things ingame

It's called a review.
I still gave it an 8, for those reasons. But it absolutely needs to be addressed as part of a critical discussion/assessment, especially for those who may not be aware that it's a cornerstone of the game's design and progression systems.

The maps look like crap and the guns sound like plastic. I can't get past how that doesn't drive other people nuts!
The gunplay and shooting doesn’t look great.
A Korean Anthem
It's not a misplaced comparison, I'll warrant. I think the main difference is people generally didn't want Anthem, whereas a lot of people genuinely want this game and want it to be what it is: fun, functional, and competent.
Korean Warframe*
Bad take.

“Free to play game has options to purchase things with real money.” WOW…
If micro transsactions is the only downside to a free game 🤔 then approach it ignoring ALL micro transactions... It does not affect you in any way shape or form. Being free will involve support from the community, so whenever the person feels that they can support the game, then do so, if not, well you don't have to...
Having the choice to do so or not, actually overcomes the negative aspect of it... I did the exact same thing with Warframe and Destiny and others. The choice is there, some games don't give you that luxury. Just saying!
