- The Tech Test is over for The First Descendant and with that, we need to talk about the state of the game. Right now, we have lots of good things to look forward to, but we also have some poor design that I hope gets adjusted ahead of launch.

I played Destiny and Warframe from launch and tbh this game is starting off better than they did. The devs seem to listen. Considering what those games grew into, this game has potential if they continue to work with their growing community and don’t get greedy.
This game is developed by nexon. It is highly likely that this game will end up being a greedy crash grab.

The fact the defense missions and survival missions don't drop loot at all just gold and ammo is sad and now we only get rewarded items completing waves is a big disappointment. Hope they revert back
I think that was for the test only. the access to loot was limited and the gave us gold in order for us to spend it upgrading gear and characters to test the Ui.
on the flip side of this. i kind of like that. as it seperates exp and gear farming not just 1 place to do everything making the other missions useless due to the sheer quantity in survival.
@@taylorsps12 This is the main reason in my opinion. They need to differentiate things so that it doesn't get boring. In the last beta it was extremely boring to stand in one place and spam until it got too hard and then reset.imagine in WoW going into the simplest dungeon and getting a massive exp with a lot of gold and cool items staying afk 80% of the time ...
@@IYI115 pretty much. its fine for an exp farm. but if it dropped everything theres no reason to do anything else. and it will definitly kill the fun ingame running defence 24/7. same issue in wf. best exp farm but gets boring fast.
paint system needs to change. there is no effin way I'm paying real money for SINGLE use RNG paint colors. also they need to relax on the censorship, the game its already rated M for adults.

I understand your point about melee, but I'd like to express mine here as well. I like it a lot because it doesn't force me to use it constantly, but rather between reloading the weapon. I also really like the acrobatic maneuvers when I combine it with the grappling hook. I would say that from this point of view, the cooldowns are perfect.
I dislike that they removed loot from the Map Missions the Defense and the other one where you gotta kill the enemies around the drills.
Also Jayber got nerfed again and is just bad now.
You’d rather have your inventory full and have to sort through what to scrap during the mission?
Everyone got nerfed. The passive energy gain was removed and efficiency mods were missing.

I had fun with this beta.
The biggest thing i disliked was the paint system. I liked the paint system from the previous beta. They arent going to make those items very obtainable, so it is a real let down for me. Other than that, im ready for the offical launch. Until then, it is avout time to get back into D2.
dude, color is random generated and its ONE TIME consumable, and you need ton of shit farming, OR, what surprisse, you BUY them! buy or not, take or leave
same as inventory slots, you start with 50 and maximum is 1000, you can gues, why its 1000, bcz you WILL NEED that 1000 slots, so prepare some cash, as you will need it!
They need to have the paint system similar to warframe at least to that
i just found out about this game yesterday, it looks really fun and im excited to try it.. so far it kind of reminds me of Defiance 2050.. which is no longer possible to play so i am hoping this can be its replacement in a way.. lol Cheers thanks for the nice Vid

The paint system is complete cancer...and needs to be removed entirely.

I don't know about that. I think they've copied so many ideas from Warframe that they might as well copy the color pallet theme too. I like recoloring things to make it look more my style, but it needs to be like the outfits; let me see what it looks like, and let me buy exactly the ones I want.

I tried Jaeber (think that’s right) and didn’t like how his turret play is at all. Will I had went with Blair because unlike fire based damage. But now I want to see his gameplay first since you didn’t really like I’m lol. Also it seemed auto rifles are super loud even with sound effects lowered.
I have to say even the missions felt a bit lacl luster imo. I remember having way more fun with Warframe in 2015 when it was still pretty new. The density the action packed fights and movement, the melee ability. I felt like a real space ninja. TFD is just ok imo. Also they need to give us settings to fix the blurry look of the graphics. I set everything on max in 1440p and disabled everything that could introduce blur and it still didn't look crisp even though this is UE5.4. I assume there is a hidden depth of field setting in the background, but it just looked like resolution was never at 100% even though it was.
The RNG part of the paint market i love for a game. The feeling of getting an item that has a .01% drop rate is awesome. However the gacha mechanic in the paint market needs to change. As well as the one time use of the paint

I’m primarily here for boss fights so I’m glad to hear that those are good. I’m a little disappointed that abilities overall aren’t the focus for that power fantasy I want but im glad that since they put a lot of work into guns that there are a lot of guns like in borderlands. The open world being barren hopefully changes on release. Movement looks a little boring ngl and at times stiff. Hearing about the color picker tbh just scares me I see comments saying they’ll change it but that to me is a red flag. A game can have some of the best gameplay on the planet but if systems are going to be locked behind random gacha mechanics like that and poorly monetized I’m not staying, if they are willing to monetize color customization this way what else are they willing to do. That leads me to my final worry, I can’t put my trust in the people behind this game, nexons track record is enough for me to just not want to touch the game in most cases, it’s gonna take time but until they show that players can trust them and that they really care about the game I’m not giving them any money.

When it comes to the prices we can make an educated guess by taking the Viessa Ultimate bundle as a base which is 5000 caliber. Judging by how close to Warframe TFD is I would say that this pretty much equals the price for the Prime Access which is 129 if memory serves. But the access includes 50 bucks worth of Platinum which the bundle does not. That would result in 5000 caliber being round about 50 bucks or 1 cent per caliber. And if that is the case, which is likely in my opinion, some items are grossly overpriced. The Warframe Reactor, forgot how it is named here, is 1200 caliber which would put it at 12 bucks a pop. I really hope that I am wrong
I think you're in the right area. Somewhere between 1$ and 3$ per 100 caliber. Energy Activator for 1200 is definitely crazy.
Honestly it seems like the good heavily outweigh the bad
Played it this weekend and the only thing that came to my mind was Outriders. Seems fun but has quite some issues. Like 2nd boss, imunnity shield and immunity phase( like other bosses) with the immunity shield being spamable more towards the end , wth? It is already hard to take down the normal immunity phase and this one has multiple....
I think the only issue is your skill lol
@@boookythegod well you are not wrong xD however it is still a poor design philosophy, give 3 distinct phases and skills to the boss, i do not mind that at all, and make them progressively harder
They r definitely gonna have to change the open world& the paint system
7:25 maybe they will add the color element system like in warframe, there are some warframes that change their elements based on the color you make the suit, of course the colors were free in warframe, but maybe in this case the element or wtv change applied to the characters will be more usefull and game changing than warframe, IF it does affect the gameplay.
The basic colors are free in warframe but the others you have to pay, they need to take a look at warframe model.

I very much would like to play this game.But I haven't been keeping up with when the beta tests comes out, And I would probably encourage anybody to make Make those reviews. Have your voice be heard about the Things you like and dislike about the game. So that way, the developers could work towards, making a much more better gaming experience with the community of the first ascendants
Outriders flashbacks anyone? Even the talking points are mostly the same across the previews. It's uncanny.

I feel this game needs another year to bake. it's fun, but It's a lot of little things that really add up and that need to get fixed that would make a big impact. For one I feel the will break more things down in the crafting sections, for weapons, characters, and colors to name a few. Just to further monetize stuff in this game which will probably upset a lot of folks. Second thing is that open world bareness problem. A few random roaming squads just seems lazy considering that was one of the main things the community disliked during the first beta tests. But in the end it's free. So I'm sure they are going to wait until some money starts rolling in before they really give it all they can unfortunately.
Blair is my favorite.
I enjoyed it, and hated the paint the most. If they keep the random 1 use paint then they need to make it cheap and easy to get. Otherwise go back to the old system.
Feel some of the field missions in the last field was abit hard on solo players , way too many ads.
Its not a bad game, but its not a great one either. The drop rates at launch for loot and crafting materials is going to be the biggest factor.
I can feel that the developers want to do many things with this game, but they don’t know which part to focus on the most.
Also, I don’t see the point of having three weapons; I only use one weapon for every situation. When I am partied with Bunny, before I even kill one enemy, she wipes out the entire map with her AOE skill. Skills > Guns
Because you were doing low level stuff I was in the second Bata with higher mission she falls off at a point
3 weapons become necessary once you start getting into higher level bosses.

This wasn’t the technical test for weapon balancing. It’s fair and becomes needed late game for sure. Also bunny does falloff and not much use for her in boss fights.
you MUST have 3 weapon as: boss are imune to some type of damage, you run out of some type of ammo and cant restock in fight, snipers are nice tonhave in some type of missions, you need level up weapons by using them, so its not just that you have 3 weapons
The problem with the game is the maps are too small so small that bunny can speed hop 3 times and be on the other side of the map there are a couple of ways of fixing this 1. Increase maps size to Destiny 2 with more cluster of mobs. 2. make a one big world with no load screens something what the new monster hunter is doing or, 3. get rid of maps and make it dungeons only but multiple maps layered that are random the way Diablo 2 did it. I do really enjoy the game but this is what is lack luster.
I wonder who at Nexon thought hey lets make the paint system a gacha and a one slot use for either your gear or descendant like the beta before you could customize freely with colors without a pointless gacha system.

Bro I couldn't play the game, I could load it play it for a few minutes but then the application deletes itself and I'm back to square one
@Vulkan, you missed the part where you can upgrade your inventory sizes from the inventory UI screen, you have the base 75 in your video. The button is in the bottom right side of the UI, it says "Purchase Slot".
Yeah, I tried not to use that too much since that was aiming to be a paid thing. I wanted to see how painful it was to manage without spending the money. But the latest dev chat said that they are going to be increasing the base inventory size, so that is a good thing!
I think you pretty much nailed it. The color system was horrendous. Makes me very nervous about the overall monitization. If they keep it reasonable, I'd love to support the devs with purchases, but if it stays like I think it might, I won't be spending anything and will probably play it for a bit and then put it down.

The gacha parallel isn't exactly accurate. Yes it's RNG but Gacha games lock power into the gambling mechanic in the form of 5-Star characters and weapons. As someone that's been playing Wuthering Waves, which is a good example of a Gacha game that doesn't require spending (i.e. - you can kick ass with 4-stars) I actually like the fact that it's only cosmetics that are locked behind RNG and MTX. Sure it could be better and be more like Warframe instead but I'm guessing the game just wouldn't be profitable

This test was my first interaction with the game, and I was pretty excited to try it out. I like the gun play, but wish there was more melee options. It seemed like every mission was a defense, which would get stale (I know it wasn't the full game, but the early game has a huge effect on retention). I did not care for the paint thing at all... I made one color and then it was gone. I want my character to look awesome while I am killing enemies, and I don't think that should be more difficult than actually playing the game. The inventory simulator honestly drives me the most insane. Having to pause every 5-10 minutes to clear out my inventory so I can resume the grind is not fun to me, and will drive me away pretty quick if they don't relax a bit on that. I get they need a way to force people to actually break things down instead of hoarding it all, but also, let them hoard it. An inventory cap (especially one so small) IMO has no place in a looter shooter. The story is also "meh" at best. It doesn't draw me in, like I don't care to listen to the NPCs drone on and on about any of it. All that being said though, I like the characters (I tried all except Kyle, Blair, and Ajax). I like the combat, and while it will take getting use to after playing Warframe for so long, the movement isn't bad either. Though the weird slide thing they do when land after a small jump makes me chuckle. I plan to play when it goes live, and take it from there because at this point I can't say it's a game I will play for a long time or not.
I hated the color gotcha system because it was a one-time use on a skin. If I could influence the color other than pure RNG, I feel it would be better off, and removal of the one time use. As for the plot, it was a muguffin based plot, and someone pushed you to find it. Also, Greg as a bad guy name, that was not very unique in comparison to the others of the same faction.

Outriders was way smoother gameplay wise than this.
I love what Outriders could have been. But I think some of you don't remember the degree of how bad that game really was and still is. The sheer number of bugs was insane, crap for nothing on stash space, no chat or in game communication, and for the shit cherry on top, the loot suuuuuuucked. Don't even get me started on the inventory and items that kept getting erased. I loved Outriders, but this game is worlds apart better so far.
I loved Outriders, but the endgame was worse than the regular game, partly because it took them forever to fix the 1 shot protection and remove the goofy timers.
randomness of the paint picker is what will turn me away from the game

No matter what I see from this game I can't get away from the fact it is going to be a horrible P2W/Gacha filled system with a game attached to it.

The problem is the game is just Meh, and apathy is the killer of all games. There was nothing that just made me excited to play.
for a game where you can't create your own character, the customization has got to be there and easily accessible, otherwise you will have a bunch of twins running around. Like I saw when i first got into the game. I chose Lepic to start the game, when i got into the game, I was standing next to 10 other Lepic's looking exactly the same. emersion breaking to say the least. The missions/story missions seems bland and unoriginal, didn't pull me into the game or made me even care. Best part was the gun play. If they want to compete with the likes of Destiny, they have a lot of work to do. I will wait for a year and check on the game see if it has improved.

A lot of bad things in the microtransaction which is a shame, the gunplay were great, had a lot of fun in beta but having to pay so much or feel the grind and not have access to dyes etc

i felt the oppisate. most of the micros available here just dont matter. you can buy the descendants which we already knew same as warframe. other than that its all cosmetics and potatoes. which also expected. seems like their keeping most of the important stuff grindable.
@@taylorsps12 guess what most are concerned with will it start that way with Nixon history, if the paint, inventory and others things are accepted what else could they push for and lock behind a pay wall. I get it that free to play game need an income but its been proven rather this model like how it is in mobile games tend to bring in a lot of money more than other buisness models, because of the fomo.

Yeah, the paint system is bad but I'm not looking to play a dress up game anyway. The melee was bad but I'm not looking to play a melee game either. Overall, I was pleased with the results of the test after playing the cross-platform beta. I don't understand why people are complaining about having 3 guns, just use 2, problem solved. I always try to equip my guns so all 3 use a different kind of ammo (white, orange, purple) so I have less chance of running dry. As far as the emptiness while traveling to a mission...when I tried, unsuccessfully, to get into Destiny 2, I kept getting caught in fights with random enemies. I found myself more annoyed than anything. Why do I have to kill 150 enemies just to be able to hit the button to start a mission, ain't no one got time for that.
Disaster. Tear down from the Anthem and Destiny and nothing in common as Warframe. My biggest complain from the 2nd beta testing was kinda cheap acrobatics and shooting like nothing to write home about. OK. Models are kinda cool, but that's it. It feels even worse than Destiny - what feels wrong from the beginning it turns out to be even more worse laters on.
I'm so tired of Warframe, and this game have jiggle effects for fuck sake! And I really like the unique character. I'm definitely going to grind this game with my clan 👍😊

I got to tell yah it doesn't look much different then games that came before it. I'm super disappointed by the amount of shooting in a game where once again your playing a character with powers that are an afterthought. Your using guns way more then abilities once again. I already games where I point and shoot, I want something that stands out, where you feel powerful.
I mean, that could always change once you reach endgame tho

The story is no issue. If we compare it to Destiny's story, (which is hot garbage) and Warframes story (which requires you to do research outside of the game and even then it still is a mess) I think it serves its purpose well in First Descendant.
Why have random enemies in the over world if we’re all going to walk right past them anyways? Pointless complaint.
Also, why would they let you have empowered melee’s permanently? Just go play destiny and use Hunter or titan. I wouldn’t expect this game to allow you to clear endless ads with melee’s that would be corny asf. They don’t need any of that imo, stay true to themselves and this game will hit.
Gameplay was fun, but the gacha paint and such made me realize it's not possible for me to stick with a Nexon game.

It was way better than that. I finished Outriders on one of the highest tiers and it was just OK...barely. First Descendant has far far more potential.

Something that's weird to me from what I've watched, is that it feels empty. Well at least when you compare it to games like warframe, destiny and even Anthem. The enemy dexterity is terrible and looks way too easy
i fucking hate that you have 3 weapons. it should be just 1 main weapon and 1 offhand. specially because theres always 1 weapon in the void, it just doesnt show in your character.

I don’t like it either and I didn’t try to see if they were also stat buffs for the character. If they are it’s fine but I rarely ever switched weapons in combat.
Why would a game based on collecting and using guns want to limit you on how many you can use? Most major looter shooter games give you a minimum of 3 to swap between cause they’ll be different ammo types.
its so you can carry a heavy weapon which is needed for big bosses. you need ad clear, some high dmg for long range. and something for high burst for destroying stronger enemies or in 1 specific boss case. shield generators.
the first beta i made the few yellows you could make
there was no way to make them higher level and rolls on them were always going to be at that level same w other weps
theres no way to scale a weapon or its rolls meaning zero reason to invest in weapons before max level at all its the outriders problem
the games a bad warframe knocknoff w heros being pretty garbage asides bunny and the blood one who could delete hordes and bosses
its horrificly unbalanced and so slammed w grind no hard pass if this is the progress they made since 6 months ago they dont care
you didnt try enough it sounds like. first you can upgrade gold weapons. the smg in the last beta was broken for instance. lol. second lots of descendents are great. bubble the water based 1 is my favorite so far. but needs gear to be good as all her abilities need high dmg scaling. oppisate of bunny where bunny falls off she scales to insane numbers. we just didnt have a lot of time to play so you see the descendants that are good instantly and like them the most. thats normal. once builds are completed and stats get min maxed well start to see more being huge. fine if you dont like it. its not for everyone. but your takes are bad.
@@taylorsps12 upgrading them didnt bring stats up enough to beat out stuff 2 levels higher than it and there wasnt an option to make a higher level version of the gun also stats on the guns dont tier up do they are stuck at the level of the gun and get easily outclassed by higher level weps

Some of the character names are lame as hell
The open world is still DEAD, and I put that in my survey. The small 4 mob patrol that randomly spawns is nothing. Needs to be 10x that with rare mobs that you can farm. Also put in the lower levels a boss that no one at say level 10 could kill. You'd have to come back at a higher level to kill him. Replaying the lower tier content as a higher level is really good.
Running through other players missions and attacking a mob only to get pulled into their mission felt very odd. Also learned that while in their mission you couldn't port to the main town...ok?
The new Void Fragment battles are fine unless your Jayber who I played a lot of. He can't interact at all with the device to activate the event, and I said so in my survey.
The lowering of the inventory space from 70 to 50 was a low blow. The inventory boss is already a PITA and now you have to do it even more.
Over all I can't wait to see the full game and see the whole story/maps/events and everything else. I already know I will put hundreds of hours into it.

nope...sorry too many time sync battle pass games to bother playing this..we are being bombarded with these in 2024-2025 there's even a battle pass in fighting games like street fighter 6 and tekken 8 it would be fine if we lived till we were 600 years old

I just don’t want this game flop like another marvel avengers or anthem or outriders and other games . This game has sooo much potential I just really really hope they listen to there fans and not make this game just another looter shooter game . I hope they keep giving the game enemies to fight keep making the game intriguing and not boring in the long run ,even being able to grab things to throw at enemies something like that you know ? Not only just “shooting” if that makes sense give them more character with moving then just being glued to the gun making the character stiff .🥲 I hope this game makes it
It seemed like the enemy design is really good, but ruined by very low starting level for endurance missions, and making the spawns way too grouped and static.
