    • @Darkerplayer
      @Darkerplayer 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well, I kind of have to agree with the 6/10.
      That still means that I liked it (6/10 is a positive score after all), but the story didn't make a lot of sense (Why does Tarsan help them after they betrayed him? Why would Shazaria want to kill Lamba if she didn't do anything, and her father was arguably in the right?) and therefore took suspense out of the scenes.
      The directing wasn't always on point either, but it didn't bother me too much.
      The fights and designs are among the greatest I've ever seen, but the series as a whole doesn't live up to them.
      Once again, I liked it and found it to be an enjoyable watch, but Dangaioh wastes a lot of potential.

    • @gespenstmk-iii111
      @gespenstmk-iii111 7 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Modern anime fans tend not to like robot shows unless:
      A: They're Gundam.
      B: They have lots of waifu pandering.
      Except Gurren Lagannn, which somehow gets all the credit from ripping off Getter Robo and lots of old Super Robots.

    • @Darkerplayer
      @Darkerplayer 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I have seen this trend of not liking robot shows, although most of the time they dislike everything except Code Geass, Gurren Lagann and Evangelion (which coincidentally is all the Mecha they've seen outside of Transformers).
      But I'm going to disagree on your opinion on Gurren Lagann.
      The stuff they "ripped off" wasn't the thing that made Gurren Lagann big. It was just about everything else.
      for one, the narrative and its central theme of evolution is genius. They expand on Getter Rays (I'm going off general description I found of them, I haven't seen or read Getter Robo yet) massively by having DNA-based beings be the source of Spiral Energy and introducing the Spiral Nemesis, which can destroy the universe. This, along with none of the antagonists (which all have the same basic goals btw) being villains, avoids telling a black-and-white story and the ending reflects that perfectly: They have found a middle way between the Spiral Nemesis and being enslaved and kept from reaching greater heights.
      Also, the fact that it features great characters (Simon in particular, but also the antagonists and the fact that most characters fall into the "Kamina" or the "Rossiu" category of philosophy and thinking) with great designs, really well animated action scenes and the classic Gainax sense of humour helped it become popular with hardcore fans and casual anime watchers alike.
      By the way, originality is not necessarily a virtue. Or are you still reading the Epic of Gilgamesh?
      Many pieces of art have been derivative (more so than Gurren Lagann was, despite the heavy referencing that comes with being a Gainax show) and are still celebrated as great works of art. Just take sacral paintings such as Madonnas.
      The "value" (how much I like it, it's subjective anyway) of a work of art lies less in its new ideas, but in how it uses and executes its ideas.

    • @gespenstmk-iii111
      @gespenstmk-iii111 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Darkonius I just get kinda salty about modern weebs knowing nothing about the old stuff and praising TTGL (and even a bit of Eva) for being so new and original and different, when their themes and gimmicks had been done before (Evolution rays and anti evolution ray enemies, universe sized robot, ending where all the MCs die confusingly - all in Getter, baby).
      What I'm saying is I love me some Getter and Dancouga. Ga Keen was terrible and stupid.

      I agreee with you there, Record of Lodoss War does have such a great opening, it'd be impossible for anything to live up to it.
      Anyway! As for Dangaioh, I'd say absolutely yes. The animation is amazing and despite being from 87 hasn't aged a day, not only due to being an OVA but also because the team who made this show clearly cared a lot.
      The main issue people tend to have with this show is the ending. They only got 3 episodes!! It's a shame because there was another Dangaioh show in the 90's but, it wasn't the same characters and it was also quite mid...
