  • Kojuro's second stage, translated in English.
Kenshin has a unique writing style for his dialogue, where he speaks entirely in hiragana. I think it's to reflect him being more "pure". (Edit: check the pinned comment for the real reason.) There's not really a good approximation for that in English... I guess it's kind of like if he were speaking in all lowercase? His dialogue is even more flowery than Kojuro's so it can be a bit hard to follow him at times, and I'm much better at reading Japanese than hearing, so not seeing the kanji made it a pain for me.
Keiji I realized actually had some lines that only triggered if you fought him first before defeating Kanetsugu, but by the time I realized, I was already halfway through editing so I didn't want to replay the stage for that. The dialogue looks like it was mostly just him being depressed about Hideyoshi anyways, which we see a bit of regardless since it's mandatory to fight him at least once. In other stages in SB3, Keiji would say all his dialogue on the 2nd encounter so I thought it'd be safe to skip the first one so I didn't have to translate as much generic lines.
Kenshin has lines in the staircase scene that talk about him being the only one to cross a "bridge of magpies", which is apparently referencing some old Chinese legend about magpies that cross a bridge once a year for a fated encounter, which none of that really worked in English without context, so I just reworded that to show he wants to face Shingen again, which is the point he was making anyways.

    1:23 Message: "Break through Kawanakajima!"
The reason for Kenshin Uesugi's lines to be displayed only in Hiragana, is because Hiragana were originally developed, so women could read as well, without having to learn Chinese characters. Another nod to the theory that Kenshin Uesugi might have been a woman, along with Kenshin and the musical Uesugi forces being a reference to the Takarazuka Revue, an all-female theatre troupe.

Achually there's one thing you left out about the magpie bridge, It's supposed to reunite a pair of lovers, Zhinv, a lady from heaven and Niulang, a cowherd from earth
Kenshin (represents heaven) talks about this regarding Shingen(represent earth)
I leave it to your interpretation on what Kenshin might REALLY mean by this.

Ahh the bridge of magpies, a bridge originally built for two long separated lovers to meet on the Chinese Valentine’s Day. I didn’t realize that’s the reference between Kenshin and Shingen. Whaaat…😂
