Edit: Simple the video tutorial is intended to do the rythm of the character select theme , you can do it in the 3d world slots and win every time, you do it in the smb2 slots and win every time half of the time.

I kind of wonder how was anybody supposed to know where the mushrooms were. Was it actually all trial and error back in the day?
Usually, the mushrooms are either where the potion was, or by large swatches of grass pulls. I don't know where the other ones are
considering that most game devs didn't even really begin to stop using arcade game design mindsets until the snes, yeah a lot of shit was just "figure it out idiot". That, or you buy nintendo power and get a guide for the game.

Its weird how mario 2 US is like a sorta big difficult spike for those who didnt play it a lot before. Its like most of the platforming instincts just kinda go out the window because it plays so differently

I remember doing a thing that gives infinite lives in mario 2. In the desert level with a bunch of cactus guys and pots, there's a pot with a POW block that you can take out, go right a bit, throw to get 3 (I think, could be more or less) lives, and you can go back in the pot to repeat because the POW block respawns.
So this means we are saving Marin from being trapped as a seagull forever ?
