    Great job Ricky!! I love how whitewashing can preserve natural look of brick, but help change up the tone to fit better with personal decor preference! Solid tutorial Thanks!

    Thank you!! I just did this over the weekend. I kept enough of the Adobe block showing through to keep the character, but toned down the orange tone completely. My living room looks 20 years newer! Bye-bye 1980s! Took me less than an hour and since I had leftover wall paint to use it didn’t cost me a dime!

    I painted my fireplace white and it looked terrible. Your tip on using a sponge and a darker color made all the difference in the world. I love it now!

      What if my fireplace is already painted in dark brown? What do you think I should do?

      @@ValerieGagne97 I didn't rewatch the video but he said if it's already painted, he will give you some pointers at the end of the video. For me it took playing around with a different color to really make it look nice.

    Thanks for the video! Love the look. Like an old French farmhouse. Will be doing this to mine. I absolutely hate painted brick, but this look enhances the brick as far as I'm concerned.

I wish I new how to up load a photo for all your viewers. It did take me two days first day about 4 hours and 2nd day about 4 hours including cleanup . Thank you again for being a inspiration 🙏

    My house was built in the 60’s and I’m changing all the flooring out to light tan ceramics. I can’t wait to whitewash the fireplace to go with the new light interior! I also have a brick entryway, but those bricks appear shiny like there’s a sealant on it. How can I get that off or paint over it without risking it being ruined by foot traffic?

    Very simple step-by-step instructions. I used this technique with a 3 parts water to 1 part paint and like the light cover. However, it looks a little "chalky." Any suggestions to make it look more..."permanent" and less chalky?

  • @cole.alexander

    I tried to move my brick fireplace to the garage to avoid breathing paint fumes, and then my house collapsed. I used a 1:4 paint to water ratio, which has a nice translucency.

    I thought you couldn't paint brick because it doesn't allow it to breathe. Instead, a lime wash is used.
    But this isn't a limewash, is it?

  • @born2burn1
    @born2burn1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Why would you deface beautiful brickwork like that? A very skilled bricklayer spent a lot of time doing that, and (almost) anybody can put up drywall. And don't give me the "the room is too dark and wanted to lighten it up" crap. Paint the walls a lighter colour. You can always repaint the wall but you can't get the exposed brick look back.

    • @ChronicBongitis420
      @ChronicBongitis420 4 ปีที่แล้ว
