Another Card Show LOADED With Vintage Baseball Cards. The Deals were Incredible!!

  • Sometimes I have to pinch myself that my local card show is as good as it is. Most local card shows around the country have just a handful of vintage card dealers, but at this Sacramento show, the MAJORITY sell vintage Baseball Cards. This show pulled in dealers from multiple states, Northern California, and Southern California. There was very little to complain about if you're a vintage collector, as about 2/3s of the dealers sold vintage cards. The majority of the cards were baseball, but there were plenty of football, basketball, and hockey cards as well. In addition, this particular show had more tobacco cards than normal, many of which were baseball and boxing. I can't wait for the next show in a few months, because this one never disappoints.

You're getting me excited to get into collecting vintage boxing. Nothing was bigger in the sports world than boxing in the early 1900's. The vintage names are much bigger than current boxers. Thanks for the focus on my table and positive comments. I like to see happy collectors when they leave my table. This was such a fun show for me as a dealer. That's a big part of what collecting is all about is having fun. Your videos really make the hobby even more enjoyable by showing so many aspects of collecting. It is very evident from your videos that you are a great teacher as well, because your videos inform and give people thought provoking questions to ponder. Keep up the great hobby content and thanks again for the positive feature of my table.

It was great seeing you two at the show on Saturday. You have so much great stuff, I REALLY enjoy checking out your cards and spending some time talking. I've had several people tell me they're going to reach out to you about some cards they saw. Hopefully it results in a few sales for you. I appreciate the kind words, and really hope to see you back at the Sacramento show soon!!

Great pick ups Graig! The Koufax, Banks, and both Mays are all fantastic cards! Its funny that that the first guy screwed up, you corrected him (to his advantage), then tried to squeeze you on the negotiation. You kept your cool, I would have laughed and walked. Great video as usual! Thanks for sharing!

I love your show videos . They are the best. I study them and go back and forth when I want to check out a card and its price. I thought you picked up 3 beauties and the boxing cards were really cheap. Actually I felt the Jack Johnson's were well priced might have picked up one of them. That is an amazing show with some really great vintage dealers more than I use to see even years ago at the National. Looks like there are more vintage dealers since COVID. Missed my last show at Chantilly sadly as I happened to be under the weather. Hope to make it in October. Thanks for the ride.

Graig. Thanks for the grand tour of the show and for your negotiating tips. You did well on those vintage baseball pickups. I got my 58 Mays recently in a 1.5 SGC with great centering and color as yours. It graded low because of a small edge gouge on the left border. Mine was $105 with tax and shipping. Glad to see I didn't over pay. Great show as usual.

Looked like a great show, Graig. You showed a lot of really great cards, and made some excellent pickups. Saw some Yaz cards that caught my attention (62, 65, 66, 67, and I think I saw a 63 Fleer Yaz). That Dempsey with the pinhole was overpriced, because a pinhole really affects the value of a card.

@@MidLifeCards Quick story on ethics that relates to this video on you correcting the dealer on the price total. I was at the National, wanna say 2004. My friend went up to the booth of a major dealer and there was a kid working the table. My buddy asked to see the 1941 Playball Joe DiMaggio, graded I think a 4. My friend asked the price and the kid saw 850.00 and handed it to my friend who saw the price tag on the back was actually 1850.00. He paid the 850.00, took the card and spent the next two days hiding from that dealer's table. We haven't been friends in a long time for many unethical reasons.

That Dempsey was overpriced for a pinhole card, for sure. But I’m one of those people who loves a good pinhole card! It means the card is a victim of love! If it’s discreet enough you can use them to get into cool cards a very good price (that Jack should have had a $20 sticker on it)
