It just warms my heart to watch you work. And hear you talk threw your thought process. I really hope you doing well. We’re still dealing with horrible inflation caused by criminals in banking and government.
Good Morning all. I'm sitting here on Saturday morning, having a coffee and looking at your video extremely relaxed. Watching you do it makes me want to do the same. A great video. Thank you, I had a lot of fun watching it. Greetings from Frankfurt Germany. Greetings Chris
I read the entire Ryan's th-cam.com/users/postUgkxGqOCINHE0Z0E5gxzSdNi9NWGugRY5Hm2 Plans and was able to make a shed plan. Using Ryan's Shed Plans alone, the shed itself is great. Where I wish I knew more is with respect to ground preparation and foundations. Maybe that's beyond the scope of Ryan's Shed Plans.
It is really heartening to see a young man just OWN his space! You have a plan, you have skills, you are growing them, AND you are taking care of your part of the planet. Man, you are an example to us all. Half a million subs coming up soon!
Hi Kris, all of your videos no matter what they are about, are great. They're actually very relaxing to watch, almost therapeutic. Keep up the good work. Take care and stay safe.
Back at the beginning of the pandemic when I started watching your channel I would not have believed that you would be where you are today, with a tractor and a machine shop a woodshop and a house and an electricity building and hydroelectric and solar and chickens and a greenhouse and mill and and and... You have done so well for yourself! Always a pleasure to see a new video from you, Kris!
I always find myself smiling from ear to ear when watching you work outside. I can’t do too much heavy labor anymore,I’ll be 68 next month and I am a great grandmother. I was/am a registered nurse when I worked. But when I was home I loved working outside. I always helped my Dad,brothers and husband with any work they had to do. Daddy took me everywhere with him when I was little, made a major tomboy out of me. Love watching you work!!! God bless you and yours!!!!
And here I was on a Friday afternoon feeling a sense of accomplishment for baking bread...and you come along and mill 25 tons of timber. :D Just kidding of course -- well done and thanks for another vid!
Hello from Canada 🇨🇦! Just starting to watch this barn building series now. I admire your persistence and determination in milling all those timbers! Well done!
I spent the past few months binging my way through all the videos on this channel. This is the first video I had to wait to come out. I have to say I've never been so excited to watch someone cut wood for 37 min.
Greetings from across the pond, here in the U.S.A. The wife is half Welsh and they hail from Anglesey. The other half is Scotch-Irish as is I. We're restoring our 18th century log home and adding timber frame additions ourselves. Also restoring the timber frame barn. Nice to see others continuing the craft of timber frames. Like your channel. Regards.
You are nothing short of brilliant Kris. I have no doubt you will be even more wonderful to watch once you get all your solid infrastructure in place. Looking forward to watching your get there.
Kris, I've run into a few Milling videos, Not that I was Looking. And Your's was the Most Educating Milling video I've seen. Thank You Young Man, Good Stuff
Reminds me of our wood cutting project 3 years ago. We got a huge load of old utility poles made of yellow and red cedar that we cut into beams and planks. We now have a beautiful fence around our farm, a new pergola, 4 picnic tables and matching benches, along with years worth of assorted cedar boards for home projects! The best part is the wood was free. It was old utility poles removed from a desert power line that would have been burned by the utility had we not offered to take the wood!
You have to be the most versatile, practical, resourceful, hardworking and forward-looking person I've ever seen on TH-cam. If you didn't have it, you research it, then built it, learnt from your mistakes and the fixed them. Thank you for pursing your dream and all the hard work and struggling you've put in over the years - and for sharing your 'family's' journey along the way. I'd recommend anyone to watch his videos from the start - from a flat in London, building a wind-turbine in his backyard and lock-up garage to living in a tent on a wet and windy hillside in Wales for a month on his own... You're a very clever bloke Kris and I've loved watching your dream evolve over the years.
After a week of working my arse off, there's nothing more satisfying than watching Kris work his arse off. The difference is that I've been pushing corporate pixels around all week and Kris has actually accomplished something of real value.
Hey mate, when splitting your firewood. Get an old tyre sit it on top of your splitting block and pack the inside of the tyre with the wood you want to split and go for it. The wood stays in the tyre and you don’t have to bend over to pick up bits every time you split it, saves the back.👍🏻😊
Watching you milling is somehow calming to me. You have a rhythm in your method & voice which sets this listener at ease. Your work ethic is admirable and your outlook is too.
I really enjoy watching your videos, They are so real and interesting. Your honesty is outstanding and that you do not edit out when things go wrong. A person can learn so much from you. I hope you never get tired of showing the rest of us what you are doing everyday. Thank You Kris.
How satisfying hey Kris that must be to look back at that stockpile of a future project in wood , the magic of the minds eye " Think it , Plan it , Make it ( yes hard work ) but those fruits of labour will live on for years to come . As said in another comment nice to see a hands on reality taking shape .
I love how you are designing and building (possibly over-enginerering?) this to last way past your own lifetime, possibly your own childen's lifetime, using materials in a sustainable way. I've followed your videos for quite a while and you bring joy in everything you do. Your attention to detail is immculate - something breaks, just fix it. Need somthing for a project, just make it. The world is full of people like you and we should all be grateful. Thank you for sharing your skills with us.
Not a brown nose by any means but the min i see kris harbor pop up in my watch list I'm like what's i got in store now💯✌absolute breath of fresh air boss
I wish other TH-camrs would understand this concept! 😂14:19 That’s why I love your channel mate, you’re teaching people stuff that’s more beneficial to them than anything we’ve ever learned in schools or colleges and it’s important for people to know these skills, there’s something really not quite right with the world we live in today and it’s not getting any better, I think in the near future people are going to really regret not knowing how do this stuff for themselves. Thanks Mate 👍🏻
Started watching for the hydropower content, stayed to watch the hardest working man on the planet reshape his piece of the world, one day at a time. Amazing
I’ve loved watching all of your videos and am so impressed at your energy and ingenuity. Pleeeease consider wearing more protective gear when using a chainsaw though. I’m a Paramedic and have seen way too many bad injuries when things go wrong in a heartbeat! We all need you healthy and in one piece 😊!
He planned ahead of time to build a barn out of round wood, and then remembered that he might get hurt in the future, so that plan was scrapped, and it became a timber frame build which would allow for the accumulation of years worth of firewood which can then be stored within the barn itself. Win - Win, if you ask me ! bravo !
Thank you very much! I did enjoy this video. Enjoy the milling and hearing you explain about the wood being cut. Hope you get those timbers covered before the next rain. Stay safe and warm.
Beautiful and purposeful timber you have milled. Must be so gratifying to see that stack grow. The barn will last hundreds of years when it is complete because of your skill and determination. Loved watching this one! Cheers....
That bit of waney-edge/sapwood on some corners is absolutely fine for internal faces of purlins, etc. I think it adds character too. There's lots of it on show in traditional timber framed buildings. Great job btw! Loving this channel.
I love this. I live in suburbia, with very little opportunity to exercise the skills you use on a daily basis, so I live vicariously through you. Thanks.
This channel should have a million subs... If you like the channel share it and we can help Kris grow, , subs, likes and comments affect his analytics on TH-cam which helps him financially to carry on creating his amazing content!! 💕💕💕
Thanks for giving all of us an inspiration and example of what the hard work and having clear goals can produce. I am far behind you but I already have 40 meters deep water well, solar system, and house foundation and ground floor columns and subfloor are done. I ran out of money and need to halt the house construction for 6 months, but it's OK
First thing I saw you make was a bowl sculpted from a piece of wood, then you started the roundhouse, you have come a long way ,excellent video as always, thanks.
Kris, you never do anything half heartedly…… I truly do look forward to seeing your videos, your attitude of can do and able to turn your hand to almost anything reminds me of my grandfather so much! But I think what makes it for me is when you are happy “chuffed” with what you’ve done each day, may the world bring to you everything that you deserve……
so refreshing to hear someone else with the same attitude to firewood as me and my dad - we manage a small patch of deciduous woods in north yorkshire and typically have 8+ tons of logs split, dried and stacked at any given time. This year, due to ill health we are down to just 3 tons, so we are very grateful to have had that store in place!. We always say that firewood warms you several times over - felling/clearing/gathering, chopping/splitting/stacking and finally burning!
Watching you I’m reminded of the saying, ”most people do what they can, but some do whatever they want”. I still can’t believe you even built the bandsaw yourself !
You don't know it yet Kris but as I've said before, if the zombie apocalypse starts, you are my best mate in the whole of the world..😂🤣😂😂😂. One of the best channels on You Tube. 👏❤️👏👏👍👍
Amazing work as usual, you sure get my admiration for the way you live your life. If I had been aware that I could have lived like this when I was younger, I would be doing it too, but I'm too old and disabled now.

Hi Kris, Id never heard of your channel until yesterday, but because I’ve been looking at timber frame buildings TH-cam suggested your channel. A great description of the old 'wandering heart' problem encountered by timber framers down the ages.
