golden days of charging in stalingrad without a rifle, air missions and covert ops/other mass battles, not something we get in the newest cod offerings
If I remember correctly, this is actually the earliest mission in the entire Call of Duty series (before the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard), taking place in 2 September 1941. It is one of only three Call of Duty missions to take place in 1941, the others being the Train Bridge level which takes place right after this level, and the Red Army Training level on 17 December 1941 in Call of Duty 2.
@@shazblam1061 You're right, I missed that mission too. Shall edit accordingly. I am also aware that the most recent Call of Duty release, Call of Duty Vanguard has one mission, The Rats of Tobruk, that takes place in March 1941, so this might replace the Bomber mission as the earliest mission in the Call of Duty series.
@@gunman47 I have yet to play vanguard, so unaware of that mission. But it sure does look like it is the oldest set campaign mission in the Call of duty universe.

To celebrate the New Year, I'll just have to watch this B-17 Flying Fortress test-run and the downing of a sizable number of Bf-109s by a godforsakenly good gunner. Also, this is the very first CoD aerial mission. Enjoy or curse at it if you must. 2:30: Hmm, a lucky shot. Mayhaps we should add additional armor for the engines next time. 3:16: Here comes the dreaded Luftwaffe. Hope you take out many of the sorry lot in revenge against the initial Western blitzkrieg, Dunkirk, and poor old Blitzed Britain. 3:40: Yeah, yeah, I know the film. Really good one too. 5:40: Exposed tail gun. Unfortunately unavoidable weak spot, but we'll try to compensate with tougher glass canopies. 7:56: Yeah, that's why bigger fuel tanks that don't overconsume and reserve fuel pods on the wings are pretty much needed in the future. Oh, and captured/liberated airbases on mainland Europe. 8:30: This is good though. 8:50: This isn't. Needs less openings, more protection. 11:00: More openings that need to be shuttered... such is war. Forget about it! 15:56: Counting down. Hmm, more than sixty seconds, but it'll do... will also compensate for the jammed bomb bay doors. 18:06: Now that I think about it, this is probably the first scripted failure on CoD as a whole. Well, despite numerous losses and some errors, the mission and the test run are ultimately decided upon as successes on their part. With this in mind, the B-17 Flying Fortress will be effectively mass produced AND steadily improved for the war effort immediately... our next test should be with the B-24 Liberator. (With gameplay like this, I sure hope GOG and/or Steam reacquires LucasArts' Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe, with the advantages of modernized graphics, gameplay improvements, an option to go back to the original gameplay and graphics if anyone prefers, and then some.) We hope the boys shot down go back down to Earth safe and sound...
Ball turret, you poor bastard; having outlived all other gunners but probably went down with the plane With the entire tail blown off like that and entering a steep dive, I doubt the others bailed out or perhaps also got sucked out like Doyle

Zevik, the point of using the turrets is to literally keep firing at the Messerschmitt's w/out stopping every time they fly by u. Not to mention if the engine's on fire, that's an immediate red flag to drop guns to put it out, not wait for one wing to turn red.
+Riley Nicolella not a problem, though when engaging enemy fighters and ur plane starts taking damage ur main priority is to keep the bird in the air unless u want to fall to ground zero.
Bomber Command did receive B-17C's and D's. The C's were designated Fortress MK.1, while the D's were designated Fortress Mk.2. They did not, however use the E model that is shown in the game. In early 1942, the B-17s were transferred over to Costal Command along with older Wellingtons, Catalinas, Liberators, and Whitleys (they would all be joined later by Halifaxes) to help in searching for U-boat and for convoy escort duties until the end of the war.
As cool as it would be I don't think I'd want WT to be like this. only controlling 1 turret at a time seems to be pretty vulnerable when fighting multiple fighters. And in multiplayer, if everyone has a turret, then the only people that will actually get any action are the tail, dorsal, and ball turret gunners. The nose and waist gunners wouldnt do much because of how limited their firing window actually is
Well beeing in hot battle, fighting of your life, i would had shoot the enmy planes and i wouldnt wodenr if a B-17 got beeing shot at from other B-17's
aka99 they have special formations to optimize firepower. If you have ever played warthunder you would know it is not that hard to not hit your fellow bombers
