  • How to Help Others Achieve Their Best?
A ship needs water to sail; wings need wind to spread; all things need rain and dew to be nourished. Therefore, we should strive to be like water that can support a ship, like wind that can propel wings, and like rain and dew that can nourish all things. Only in this way can we help others achieve their best. However, if the water is not deep enough, it cannot support the ship; if the wind is not strong enough, it cannot propel the wings; if the rain and dew are not abundant enough, they cannot nourish all things. Therefore, we must continuously learn and enrich ourselves in order to help others achieve their best.
In Rajasthan, India, there is a man named Bunker Roy, the founder of Barefoot College. In 1972, he decided to establish a unique school that provides practical skills education to impoverished farmers and villagers from remote areas, with a special focus on women's education and solar technology training.
There was an elderly woman named Raji Devi. Raji Devi came from a remote village and had never received formal education, but she was selected to come to Barefoot College to learn solar technology. At the time, she was already in her sixties, but she persisted in her studies because she hoped to improve the living conditions in her hometown.
At Barefoot College, Raji Devi, along with other women from different countries, learned how to install and repair solar lamps. Despite language barriers, they communicated through gestures and drawings and supported and encouraged each other. Raji Devi overcame various difficulties and eventually mastered solar technology, becoming a qualified solar engineer.
After completing her studies, Raji Devi returned to her hometown and began installing solar lamps in her village. Previously, the village had no electricity at night; children couldn't study in the evenings, and villagers could only get by in darkness. Now, every household in the village is equipped with solar lamps, significantly improving the villagers' quality of life, and children can study under bright lights.
Raji Devi not only changed her own fate but also transformed the future of her entire village. Through her effort and perseverance, she supported her village like water, drove change like the wind, and nourished everyone in need like rain and dew.
No matter our background, as long as we have the determination to continuously learn, enrich ourselves, and strive for change, we can become the water, wind, and rain for others, helping them achieve their best.
