I believe that low mileage examples of those years will be rising in value, & likely, much sooner than later.

The cheapest GranTurismo of this generation will be a salvage title Folgore (electric variant) that needs a new battery pack due to someone driving and crashing it like a different Stellantis product
Im glad Maserati is getting itself back into the true high end market. The design may be similar to the original one, but the materials are fantastic, it looks modern, its fast, and seems to be of far higher quality than it used to be.
I like it, but Maserati is really out of step with their rivals. It's already almost dated. It's really a DB11 competitor, but Aston Martin just released the DB12 that has over 100 horsepower more than this Granturismo. Bentley also just released the new Continental GT that's up over 200 horsepower on this. Both Aston's and Bentley's 500 HP engines are last-generation. The Ferrari Roma has over 600 HP. Even the electric Folgore trim is already dated. It's the same technology as the original Taycan, but Porsche just released a comprehensive update to that too. This new Granturismo is leaps and bounds ahead of the old model, but the cars it would compete with have already moved on and it feels like Maserati is always a step behind their competitors.
Always have that bitter sweet feeling when Doug reviews Maserati. I looove the styling of GT old one this one doesn’t matter- they’re the same. But than Doug just destroy them tear into pieces
200000 is actually insane. Did they do any market research? There is no way anybody who has that kinda money will fall for this, the jig is up with Maserati. Everyone knows theyre not the most luxurious or sporty brand, its just for show
That's right in the middle of the GT market, where you'd expect Maserati to be. Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes are cheaper. Ferrari, Aston Martin, and Bentley are more expensive
it's the same anywhere else for the previous gen. I'm glad because I love old luxury/GT cars, especially ones that I can afford with my measly $40k/yr salary (don't ask how much it costs to live in Idaho). I'm looking into getting a Jag X100 or used Maserati some day. I'd LOVE an Aston V550 but I'm poor. The previous GranTurismo's predecessor, the Coupe are ones I'd also love but considering how much cheaper, available, and more reliable an XK8 is, I'll stick with my first pick.
By 2030 they will. I'm saying this with deep regret because I owned 4.7 GT, possibly will get to MC stradale in the future. Instead lobbying against stupid gov regulations, EU producers are making gimmics to meet "emissions". Well lowering emissions also lowers emotions. This car is a pass for me.
@@MrLtybul Maserati is going nowhere. Stellantis is not exactly a struggling conglomerate and they consider Maserati to be their premium crown jewel. How shiny that jewel is is a different discussion, but the point is there's no indication Stellantis is about to stop investing in Maserati.
@@jpl8878 It doesn't guarantee the return of that investment. Success of Maserati depends on their customers. Like many people said before me, new GT is overpriced V8-less, tablet proposition, that fell short on performance. Nothing to die for.
In my opinion, other car companies should have done this when it comes to body styling. Like Toyota with the Supra and the MR2. Like Acura with the NSX and Mazda with the RX8. Maybe if they had continued where these cars left off, they would have sold more especially the NSX.
What a time to be alive. Lexus made an LS500 that's so sporty and small inside that no one wants it. Maserati made a $230k+ mid-engine car with as much plastic as a $75k C8. And their GT has a V6 and costs as much as a slightly used V10 R8. For $160k I can absolutely find a 991.2 or 992 Porsche 911 Turbo.
What a bunch of confusing and L takes. Did you mean IS500 or LC500? The LS500 is not small, and the other 2 are pretty coveted. 2, the C8 isn't plastic-fantastic. 3 of course it has a V6, it's 2024, not 2004. I agree, it is stupidly overpriced.
True, but you can't put four adults in any exotic GT (except maybe a Bentley GT which costs a lot more). If you have a (small) family, this is actually an excellent allrounder.
Still the best looking GT car ever imo. Next is the Ferrari California GT, very similar. Maserati lost its touch when they decided not to put a Ferrari V8 back in. The sound of a V8 is magnificent.
Price is definitely a problem here - huge premium over the old car. Ignoring that though, i thonk this os a real hit. Looks absolutely stunning. Doug never liked the old design, so clearly isnt a huge fan of thos, but i think its a nice modern refresh of possibly the best looking car on the road. The engine, whilst only a V6, still spunds great, and is a modern, high BHP desgin. The interior materials and design looks excellent, and again, very modern. Didnt think any of the controls actually looked that complicated or problematic. Ill never have the money to buy one, so its moot, and i would worry about the classic Maserati depreciation. However, if i had the money, and these were closer to the £100k mark, id have been front of the dealership queue.
I know, it looks horrible. It does not fit with the flowing lines of this car. It screams "but we have to have one of those camera mirrors everyone is doing"

what about mercedes? they are actually good so they deserve to put two logos. Maserati puts logos everywhere because the branding is the only selling point, which has even stopped working now
Why is there so much hate on a modernized version of this beautiful silhouette. Porsche literally does the same thing with the 911s. They look the same every generation with some changes in front and rear graphics and is praised for it.
This is likely significantly more expensive to build - or at least to develop - because the V6 and the electric variant are the exact same body, so they had to spend time, effort, and money on a solution that buits both ICE and EV

The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore version especially the convertible is one of the best-looking cars on sale today period!
Familiar Looks, High Prices, Steep Depreciation, Abismal Reliability
Tout est dit!!!😮😅
I can buy a 2014 for less than 10% the cost
Nope, nadda, no way not for me🏖️
Don’t these use quite a few Chrysler parts ?🏖️
Not just that, a V6 instead of the old V8s
Imagine paying almost $200K but not getting standard driver assist tech
A car that looks like a 2009 MY for Mc20 money? Sign me up! Best value proposition ever! The new one even looks worse!
and has a V6 instead of an 8-cylinder... somebody stop me!
It’s a beautiful car but not worth the money
Can’t agree more, it’s predecessor looks so much better!
Fisker Karma vibe.

Doug, the looks are that good. Why change. It’s timeless.🇮🇹🇮🇹
It’s looks are overated
5 years later we get a video from Hoovie: “I bought the cheapest Maserati GranTurismo”
And badly broken in America
The cheapest GranTurismo of this generation will be a salvage title Folgore (electric variant) that needs a new battery pack due to someone driving and crashing it like a different Stellantis product
I can't imagine anyone buying this without that beautiful sounding V8.
Im glad Maserati is getting itself back into the true high end market. The design may be similar to the original one, but the materials are fantastic, it looks modern, its fast, and seems to be of far higher quality than it used to be.
I will agree on the materials aspect. the leather in Maserati/Ferrari is wonderful.
And a V6? No thank you.
I love the style. If it's not broken then don't fix it!
1:43 - Trunk lid gaps are just perfect xD
dam yea its massive

Typical Fiat quality
@@jonlosito2004 Naaah, even Fiat Tipo has better gaps than this.

Always have that bitter sweet feeling when Doug reviews Maserati. I looove the styling of GT old one this one doesn’t matter- they’re the same. But than Doug just destroy them tear into pieces
This new maserati gran turismo will set the record for automotive depreciation
A hoovie car in the making
I don't think so, depreciation is getting lower and lower with each generation.
Nah, a Rolls Royce depreciates in a year, what the Gran Turismo is worth new.
@@95mushroom
Depreciation is based on the percentage of the car's original value
Definitely one of the most beautiful cars on the market
This is one of the best looking cars I've ever seen.
Drive right off the lot immediately depreciates $160K
I love how the infotainment system is taken right out of the Dodge Hornet
More like the Jeep Grand Wagoneer 😂😂
It's called sharing components. Every big automotive group does that nowadays.
@@delbroox well definitely not Mazda.
@@delbrooxevery…?
@@JamesConnor116 yes, every multi-brand automotive group does.
IMO looking better then any new Ferrari on the market today.
This car need to get easy 8 out of 10 on the styling , it’s just unfair
The only reason to buy a Maserati GT was the V8 sound and that's gone so now you are basically paying 230k to look like a New Jersey gangster
im actually impressed by Maseratis 3 newest cars! they finally caught up in the tech! they are just way too expensive
Buy one 4-5 years old, no one will know it's second-hand. 90% percent of people are suckers for Maserati.
how many toothpaste tubes fit in the door jam? lol iykyk
those were the days, Doug
A pure timeless elegant designed car, imo
200000 is actually insane. Did they do any market research? There is no way anybody who has that kinda money will fall for this, the jig is up with Maserati. Everyone knows theyre not the most luxurious or sporty brand, its just for show
People still bought the terrible old Ghibli, so there are people out there who viciously hate their money.
@@volvo09 $200000 is a LOT more
That's right in the middle of the GT market, where you'd expect Maserati to be. Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes are cheaper. Ferrari, Aston Martin, and Bentley are more expensive
10:32 does that say normal street?
Beautiful exterior, a shame about the rest (cough cough Stellantis reliability)

maserati has been no part of stellantis for 3 years
Mercedes do the 2 front logo thing too with the second being illuminated as well 🤣🤣🤣
Pointing out that C&B sold the old version for $22.5k was a bit of a low blow.
Nope. It's literally an important detail to point out if you're doing a thorough review.
it's the same anywhere else for the previous gen.
The previous GranTurismo's predecessor, the Coupe are ones I'd also love but considering how much cheaper, available, and more reliable an XK8 is, I'll stick with my first pick.
the 2 cars look a lot alike because the old one was stunning and so they wanted to keep the look running
Will it drop in value 50% after a year like usual
Yes. As you pull off the lot it'll lose 100k
Stunning car.
Images/videos don't do it justice.
im just suprised maserati hasnt gone bankrupt by now.
because Saudis still exist and only buy new
By 2030 they will.
@@NikoBell12he meant lc500
True, but you can't put four adults in any exotic GT (except maybe a Bentley GT which costs a lot more). If you have a (small) family, this is actually an excellent allrounder.
Hit the nail right on the head with that take.
Still the best looking GT car ever imo. Next is the Ferrari California GT, very similar. Maserati lost its touch when they decided not to put a Ferrari V8 back in. The sound of a V8 is magnificent.
How did they manage to make the GT look more like a Ghibli
Doug is the type of guy to sit on the TV and watch the sofa.
0:52 I see what Doug did there
Doug is the kind of guy who would throw a rock on the floor and still miss.
Don't Mercedes have a star in the grille and one on the dash - right above the one on the grill?
“… you can buy at the kind of used car dealers that also sell Mercedes S’s with broken air suspension.” Well played sir, well played.
I have those dealerships in my city and they always have a GranTurismo in stock. Usually on aftermarket rims.
15:10 Ferrari and Mercedes do 2 logos at the front
This car is going to tank in spectacular fashion.
Just like a 911.
Nice. My General approves. He loves the black with saddle leather.
That camera looks so much like an afterthought.
I know, it looks horrible. It does not fit with the flowing lines of this car. It screams "but we have to have one of those camera mirrors everyone is doing"
the entirety of this car is an obvious afterthought. It was forced into production by a committee, rather than the team of designers who wanted to bring the Gran Turismo name back to life.
It’s not that bad. It’s fitted inside the shark Fin antenna so it would be there anyway
@@jasonkolker the car could have just had a smooth lump like my truck. Making it a shark fin (with a large black tip, not just a camera hole) looks terrible on that car.
@@volvo09 the black tip isn’t great I know. But that assembly isn’t just for the camera
I assume the reason you would have to press hard to change gears is so that you dont accidentally change gears while adjusting the climate or using the infotaintmaint screen
15:16 you can't think of another car brand that places two logos on top of each other? What about Mercedes?
what about mercedes? they are actually good so they deserve to put two logos. Maserati puts logos everywhere because the branding is the only selling point, which has even stopped working now
@@CarQuizzical totally missed the point of my comment, but ok
Why is there so much hate on a modernized version of this beautiful silhouette. Porsche literally does the same thing with the 911s. They look the same every generation with some changes in front and rear graphics and is praised for it.
Leadership at Maserati needs to go. A 2024 with sub 1,000 miles that had a $175,000 MSRP ,no saled for 90K last month
Good beautiful design. No needs for change.
New contender for fastest depreciation.
this car is back.🇮🇹
Cheaper to build car, with a higher tag price, well done Maserati.
This is likely significantly more expensive to build - or at least to develop - because the V6 and the electric variant are the exact same body, so they had to spend time, effort, and money on a solution that buits both ICE and EV
Cracks me up that Doug criticises the design not changing, errr 911 anyone?
Looking forward to seeing these featured at the local buy-here-pay-here as their "luxury" option in a few years.
Right next to a BMW that visibly burns oil
Just across the lot from the Challenger/Charger R/T's
It’s a timeless design, idk why the wheels r so small tho
3 things are certain:
Death, taxes, and new Maserati's having ridiculous depreciation.
I'll get me one in 4-5 years time for $35,000
until you see the cost to fix it often and prices for parts

One of the worlds greatest mysteries. My theory: people really stupid with money like athletes and rappers.
