  • Learn how to bake the perfect holiday ham using Boar's Head Brown Sugar and Spice glaze. This is a real crowd pleaser and I bake one every year! The recipe is easy to prepare, can be found on the side of the glaze bottle, and is fully ready in about an hour and 45 minutes. Temperatures are in Fahrenheit.

I hope you loved the recipe! I do this every year and the group I cook for loves it (they usually just leave the bone for leftovers). I’m responding in January but Merry Christmas!!! 🎄🎁❄️

I don't cut any fat off ham before cooking. That fat barrier serves to retain moisture preventing the ham from drying out while it comes up to temperature. Fat can easily be removed from slices at serving. There's no putting lost moisture back so I don't risk losing it. Also I prefer a caramelized glaze. 15 minutes at 425° didn't appear to be enough time to harden it for my taste, but any longer at that temp risks drying it out. I bought this glaze to try this year because Boars Head typically has quality products and I want to try something different from the glaze I typically make. I'll cook mine glazed, uncovered at 325° until an internal temp of 140°, tent with foil at the end and brulee with a torch to set the glaze if necessary. Nevertheless, thanks for your demonstration.

Different strokes for different folks. How did yours turn out RM? Never had an issue with the ham not being moist enough and guests typically eat it all at friendsgivings.

    Question:
Does the flavor of the glaze actucally get INTO the ham or can you only taste in on the edge of the pieces? Have you ever, right before the second glaze, cut partways into the ham so the second coating of glaze can get inside? I just want to make sure my ham has plenty of that glaze flavor. Thank you!

Looks great but get ur hands in there and rub at glaze in. Ya don't need a spatula

I'll do that next time! I think it'll be way easier and spread the flavor more.

That's a great idea! That will make it extra moist and flavorful!
