Hi I'm Wendy a resin artist and crafter.
In this video I am making Snow globes using Artsymadwoman's method of using a light bulb mould turned inside out.
Although I have made a teddy bear snow globe before, I had never made a sphere globe. So when I was asked to make one with specific centers, I just had to get creative and make them.
I had to make 2, so the second one in the video has been condensed down to an 8 stage bite size reference.

FYI put an old rag on the table when you're demoulding, it stops your resin piece from flying across the table 😉😉

They are absolutely adorable! 😍 I like it when moulds can be used in more ways than one, as I don't sell my crafts (yet?) versitility is great. Not that I have either mould but it's a good exercise in thinking outside the box!

Oh! I just love snowglobes, and these are all so precious! ❤😊 That's really clever how you used two molds to do this. My favorites are the tree and snowman. 😊 Thank you for the warning on not using too much glitter...I'd have dumped in waaay too much! 😅
I got to thinking (ino...dangerous!), but I haven't a lathe; they scare me silly, anyway, but.... Would you be able to use a fine sand to create a stable form so that the globe doesn't go wonky? Like, maybe a deep enough sand (or clay?) "pit" that it would come about 1/2 way up?
Hm. Might need to create your own spherical mold, nice and sturdy!
I used the mould I had and dealt with the issues of the misshaped form and you might have a point about the outside casing.

They’re so cute! I do have that sphere mold but, not the light bulb. I haven’t used the sphere mold yet so, thanks for the heads up about the weight of the resin causing it to deform. I would think it’d be worse without the void. I don’t have a lathe so, I guess I’ll have a choice between witness lines or a wonky sphere.😂 Thanks for the great tutorial! I love snow globes! You did a great job of figuring out the logistics of a adorable creation!❤

I have never really mastered the witness lines and prefer to just get a deeper resin 😂😂😂 but the weight is more due to the stones in the Center. I would think a full sphere would be fine in the mould 😀😀❤️👍
Incredible!! What other options could you use to fill the void with as to avoid a flat top? I'm feeling like its limited as you have to be able to get the insert in and out... In any event, I love them! Simply brillant... thank you so much!
There is an option of making a base and putting the sphere with flat bottom on the base. So it gives the appearance of being completely spherical but sitting in a base 😀😀😀 hope that helps Lori ❤️❤️
Love these! Lately I haven't been getting your videos, and not only yours...?? Yesterday I tried to find your channel and it was not available at all. I kept trying, but TH-cam just wouldn't bring it up. 😖. The reason I was trying to find your channel was to ask you about Let's Resin's metallic colorants. I have tried to use them twice now. I mixed them with Jdiction resin, and twice I have had disasters. Which I have never had before. The colorants pooled and then took on a freckled look. The first time I sprayed alcohol on the resin. That gave me half of the mold with a solid coloring and half with freckles. Interesting! Yesterday I avoided spraying alcohol. Once it started curing, I mixed and swirled it in the mold. (I was doing Christmas ornaments) That created interesting color patterns, but definitely not what I was after. Also, today the resin still is soft, although fully cured. It has a rubbery texture. My question to you...have you had such problems? Or have you only brushed this colorant onto the mold and then poured the resin? When I looked up the reviews, I saw that my problems weren't uncommon. Was I using too much colorant?? I know you used them successfully. Me? Uh uh... Help!? 🤔😝😖😭
Jay 🤗 I have only put these metallic powder in once directly into resin. I used such a tiny amount for a small piece, but I have dusted it a lot. I’ve not had any problems like you are describing, but I haven’t done it much.
I do know that you need a tiny amount though. But it’s not mica so it reacts differently.
As for TH-cam, I’ve no idea 🤷♀️

My thoughts were that, even though I used much less of that metallic colorant than mica powder, I used too much. After Christmas when I have time, I will try again. Although I just got x-ray results back and it's not looking good for my shoulder. Sighs. But after being wiped out three times by drunk drivers, I am thankful that I am still able to do anything. 😘

These look so awesome! Do you think it might be possible to use water to weigh down the inner lightbulb mold so you could just pour it out once the resin is cured? Or would that cause problems for the resin?
I don’t think that water would be heavy enough tbh. But as long as the both don’t touch, the resin will be ok.
I was using a thick resin though 😀👍

You could, but the risk is it would deflate and misshape 😀😀👍

A few questions... wouldn't you prefer using just baby oil instead the mixture of water and glycerin? I already forgot what your machine is called to buff and shine. How would I be able to get similar results without that machine?

Well I’d never thought of baby oil tbh 🤔🤭 but I expect it would work out fine 😀😀
With out using a buffer and polishing tool I used to use wet/dry sandpaper then micro sanding pads. Then use a polish. It’s the way I used to do it and works well. Peter Brown still does.

These are absoutly stunning Wendy! I love this idea so much and they turned out beautiful. I have 1 Question.... Do you keep your UV resin in the little bottle with the tip? If so.... How do you keep it from curing in it? I tried that and I gues just the light from my home made it cure in the bottle... I thought it was dark enough in my houe as I live in a "cave" lol...💋💋
No I don’t Calissa 😳 it will definitely cure in a clear bottle. You can get small black bottles but they need to be completely light proof. So I just use them for the job then clean them out 😀😀😀 hope that helps 😀❤️👍
