No way! That's so cool. Two in a row. A lot of people misunderstand the apparent size of the engines on the X. What you're seeing is the long, long nacelle, which has been optimized for high-subsonic flight. The engine itself isn't nearly as long as the nacelle, as the fan is set far back, and the thrust reverser takes a large part of the exhaust nozzle. Then, the fan diameter itself appears exaggerated when you look at the X head on because the X cabin is really quite narrow - the same as the smaller Sovereign. A better way to think about the engine is in terms of its thrust, which began at 6,400 lbf for the AE3007C, evolved to 6,700 lbf for the AE3007C1, and ended with 7,000 lbf for the AE3007C2 (which is the engine on the X+). The engines are designed and built by Allison Engine in Indianapolis (hence the AE), purchased by Rolls Royce in 1995.

With massive engines like those, I don't know why they wouldn't have made the plane a little longer and wider.

Because it was built for speed, over mach 0.90!
Now, that is a question for the ages.
The engineers designed the airframe for a certain performance envelop. A longer, wider (and heavier) airframe would have altered that design entirely, i.e. the performance would have suffered.
According to FlightAware this plane hasn’t flown since 30 Nov 2016. Or maybe the owners don’t wants it’s flights known.
