It's Buffy the Vampire Slayer Friday once again and it has been getting really good in the last few episodes especially after Buffy's mom passed away, have a great weekend Juliette.🙋🐈⬛🇦🇺
Just wanted to point out the irony of you saying "that would be a total stab in the dark" on a show like Buffy which has been literally doing this for 5 seasons now 😂
There was just something about her walk that told me that it was not the robot Buffy who came to see Spike at the end of the episode. That, and probably the way she was talking, I guess.
A Slayer is a primal creature, a predator...almost as ancient as time itself...love, pain, death...these words don't have the same meaning to an ancient warrior like a Slayer as they do to a modern person. They don;t live by laws of morality or ethics...they do what others have to because that is their sworn duty...and because they have the gift to do so. So when the First Slayer says "Death is you Gift" it is not as literal as Buffy might think...it's more like trying to understand a riddle an old wise man would tell you.
Be careful what you wish for, Jules! (In my opinion, this should be yet another mantra for the Buffyverse). LOL. This episode does have some good comic relief and some action, which is a nice reprieve from the previous two episodes. That ending - wow! I remember being blown away and loving it when I first saw it. Buffy feeling that she can't love is something that many of us deal with at one time or another. Spike does care for Buffy and Dawn as far as he is capable, whether that has something to do with the human he was or not (something that is heavily debated), it's a very interesting thing compared to the unsouled vampires in the show. Have a lovely weekend! 😀
Oh, absolutely! Spike truly does care for Buffy and her family and he's shown it time and time again (recently haha). I hope you have a lovely weekend, too!
Glad that you were able to laugh, smile, and have well conceived ideas about Intervention. This episode was a great way to have an emotional break after the last 2 bouts of grief and sadness. You survived and that’s all any Buffy fan can claim. The First Slayers talk with Buffy is interesting and can be helpful to the viewing audience. Buffy is told that she is full of love and that it is through the pain that The Slayers love is forged and will grow.I think that she is not just addressing Buffy but the audience. Since the terrible last scene showing Joyce on the sofa until the fade out of Buffy sobbing in Dawns embrace… there is a deep sadness. Like Buffy, we wondered if we could move on and love BTVS again. The break between The Body and Forever was over a month. We needed a quest to be reassured and the pain experienced with the death of Joyce did help to strengthen the bond and love for this show. It was that break and then this episode that all 9 of us realized that we were on a journey with Buffy. The First Slayer was right and all of us had a greater capacity to love this show and characters more than we ever imagined. As you enter the conclusion of this great season, think back and think if the First Slayer was correct. Have your feelings about the show increased when there was pain and did the painful experience grow the feelings about Buffy and the show? Looking forward to your reactions .
WIlliam, thank you!! I really enjoyed reading through your thoughts here. Very interesting to think about our feelings towards the characters strengthen and deepen when we're going through emotional turmoil. It's like a bonding experience, in a way!
Enter the Buffybot, woo! This is one of those Buffy episodes that perfectly balances humour and drama. The whole plot with the Buffybot is equal parts funny and horribly disgusting, yet by episode's end Spike displays his true dedication to Buffy. That whole final scene between him and Buffy is just perfect. I think it's also one of the best demonstrations to date of Glory's brutality. There's a reason why she's my favourite Big Bad. Meanwhile, Buffy's quest is a fascinating dive into Slayer lore and it's always great to see the First Slayer. "Death is your gift..." Hmm, I wonder what that could mean. It's interesting that you interpreted it the way you did, because I originally thought it meant that she was a bringer of death, given that's what a Slayer is. I guess we'll have to wait and see what it actually means...
Ashley!! I totally agree about the Buffybot! It's really.... kinda gross 🤣 Poor Spike. I do love though that he very quickly realised it was NO substitute for the real thing!
"Death is your gift ..." ... ohhh ... I remember this! Or I think I do :D If it's the link I think ... well ... there'll be need of tissues {that sounds wrong } ... but that's not a surprise with Buffy :)
Kinda glad they didn't have that creepy thing around for the rest of the season 😅 That was a storyline I was glad they wrapped up in one ep. It was funny while it lasted, but having Spike "play" with her for a longer time would have been overdoing it.
it must have been so fun to play the buffybot! so silly. spike is the BIG bad ;) that last scene is so good too. you did a great job figuring everything out.
Hey there, Jules!💜 The field of stars is back once more! As ever, Nice!😊 I am going to make my own stab in the dark and say - you could probably save some time and write a little bit - "Yes, I mentioned that in the video!" for pasting in to the comments!🤭 A serious episode, but filled with much humor. A break from the tears - Your uncontrolled laughter - "Why is this happening !?! It's Terrible!" Abhorrently funny stuff here. And it wasn't long until you had a reversal - 15:08 - a very You reaction, and I agree! Many will jump in and say, I suppose - 4:53 - Yes, very real, and can be seen, although not commonly, in many parts of the Americas, even in town. Beautiful animals - although I prefer their smaller (even more elusive) relatives - the Lynx, and the Bobcat - all lovely though. At 8:30 - a brand new reaction laugh. It took me by surprise!🤣 As to something from the outro - Yes Spike is evil, as you're often told, but I think, of late - and this is my opinion of course - he is evil for his own purposes, and does not lend himself so easily to others means and ends, which makes his end scene, with Buffy, so very honest.🥰 A great episode. Very funny, yet feeling very important, as you say. I enjoyed this one quite a lot.😍 Have a lovely weekend, Jules.💜🤗💜 Take a break - it wouldn't be wrong - Stay busy, but with enjoyable things... not chasing deadlines. I'll see you again, in the next! I cannot believe France had the audacity to light the torch during this Buffy premier reaction video. What were they thinking?🤨
Tom 😊💜 finally we get a break from the sadness! I know they love to keep us on a roller-coaster, all these ups and downs. Hold on and brace for the ride, it seems! I agree with you about Spike! We all know he's evil. He's a vampire, after all 🧛♂️ but for him to not tell Glory about Dawn is HUGE. It's not the first time he's protected Dawn, or looked after Buffy and I don't think it's just because of the chip. Can't they just curse him and give him a soul 🤣 Thank you, Tom 💜😊 I hope you have a lovely weekend, too! I've been up editing since 6:30 but then at 8am I was happy enough with my progress that I decided to go for a walk! Definitely trying to prioritise me a lot more, when I can 🥰 I'll finish the edit later 🤣
Oh.... See, about the petition thing... 😅 Of course, I can't allude to anything spoiler-y but I'll sign that petition for you in a heartbeat. 😊 Look, there are still seasons 6 and 7. We weren't really sure about that back when the show first aired. I think they changed networks or something like that. But if it helps and makes you look forward a little bit more. I think we're close enough now so that I can say: Season 6 is my favorite season! 👍
@@julesreacts We'll talk a bit more about it maybe, when season 6 is over. 👍 Will probably watch every Buffy reaction from now until at least the end of season 6. Can't wait. For Doctor Who, that's already a given.
I like the Buffybot too. She's fun XD But Spike's use of it is horrible and creepy. He gets points for not telling Glory about Dawn, but he loses them for the robot. At least this episode made you laugh. You can't complain XD
Agreed!! I know one of the purposes of a robot like that, but it's still... disturbing. I do like how Spike pretty quickly realised it's no substitute for the real Buffy.
Good one. Less Rough. Oh the Buffy Bot. Love the Buffy Bot. Yup it's pretty bad. Don't know if I ever mentioned this before but spike is actually, actively, stupidly, EVIL. But good moment for evil spike.
This season always feels so weird, it feels like not a lot has happened other than obviously Joyce dying and Riley leaving, but how are there are only 4 episodes left?
As a teenager, I was all about Angel. Even though I am, and was, asexual, I still liked Angel best (mostly because he was great to look at). But as an adult? I'm all about Spike. Spike is much more interesting than Angel, because he (Spike) shows love and loyalty and even kindness, WITHOUT his soul. Angel without a soul is just the biggest jacka$$ on the planet, even for a vampire. lol Spike shows a range you don't see in a lot of other vamps.
You make a lot of great points! I've seen mixed comments regarding Spike, some love him, some hate him. I love him - but I also am still very aware he is a bit evil 😅
The Buffybot in Intervention lends for some great comedy moments, but the serious side is Spike's obsession with Buffy reaching crazy and dangerous levels. Interesting that Spike did not tell Glory who the Key was, even though he is soulless he seems to be changing, his feelings seem genuine, of course because of the chip he cannot attack humans, but nevertheless things seems very different. The kiss from Buffy is a pivotal moment in the show.
Nearly posted a spoiler before I realized it was in the NEXT episode. :P Welcome back to Sinaya(AKA First Slayer(never says the name in the show, only the comics, so it's not a spoiler). "Death is your gift!" "Death is my gift?" "Death is your gift!" "Xander! And...Anya. How is your money?" XD "Angel is lame. His hair goes straight up and he's bloody stupid!" LMFAO! DHMIS season 2, Episode 2 vibes from you at Sinaya's words: "Hey, WOW, I didn't like that!" The final scene with Spike and Buffy is still amazing.
Okay, I'm finally here. I've been avoiding The Body and Forever, much like you. It's never going to get easer to watch these two, sorry. Actually, more often than not I skip reactions to The Body, watching it with you was a hard decision to make but I knew I would get a lot of tears from you in particular (I love it when reactors get so invested). Moving on, the writers knew we could use a funny, uplifting episode - which is actually a fave of mine, I'm a huge Buffybot fan! Buffy's friends not picking up on their friend being a robot is... ouch. You'd think they would. They didn't pick up on Buffy being Faith either, but that made a little more sense than the robot considering they were aware of how those bots speak and act. Weird but consistent with the characters I guess. I'm just yet again disappointed with them. More on the Buffybot, something important to note. The show lets us think that Spike ordered "her" as a toy. To "play checkers with." But notice that Spike tells the Buffybot "No programs, don't use this word. Just be Buffy." He didn't want a sexbot and he never refers to it as one either... He wanted Buffy, as a girlfriend. He ordered the bot because he couldn't get the real one. Warren too didn't make a toy, he made a girlfriend. I agree with Willow and Tara in I Was Made to Love You that's it's kinda sad. We're made to think it's purely gross and absence, but these two guys took this step because they couldn't get the love of a living person. It narrates something a lot of guys go through in real life (from what I've heard anyway, I'm a female myself). Maybe that's why Xander, weirdly enough, felt sorry for Spike in the end. Because he understands. He wanted the unattainable as well. I think you're right that in the end, a robot is NOT the real thing. Warren got bored with his, April was too perfect. I think in the end of the episode Spike realizes that himself about the Buffybot when the real Buffy kisses him in appreciation. Re: Baking a cake. Let us know how it turned out! I bake quite often myself, still learning the science side of it. I just made marshmallow fondant from scratch 😋
Honestly, I do not blame you in the slightest 🥹 I really don't know if/when I will watch The Body again and in saying that, it does feel like a shame because it was SO beautifully done. It's not an easy watch. Maybe one day... Yeah, I fully agree with you and the Buffybot. It would have never been adequate as Spike didn't want a "plaything", he wanted Buffy. It's a novelty, fine for a little while, but it would never be a match for the real thing. I'm really enjoying seeing Spike evolving! He's an interesting character, for sure! I haven't made the cake yet 🤣🤣 I need to go to the shops today for groceries, I'm going to buy the ingredients! Let's goooo! I've made marshmallow fondant once so I can't remember how it turned out haha. I hope yours worked perfectly!!
RIP Bob Barker! Great episode for comedy and grossness. It's interesting in that way. By the end, I don't really see Spike as having learned a lesson (he's soulless so that doesn't really make sense - doing good doesn't change his soulless status, just makes it easier for him to hide behind), I see it as Buffy unintentionally gave him re-newed hope. It was a thank you after disinviting him. So, now Spike has renewed hope that isn't really what he is percieving. The Scoobies were so adamant that April was a robot, but couldn't pick up the exact same signs from the Buffybot. The excuse of Buffy acting off because of her mom could work if the group hadn't been so it's so obvious about April that anyone who doesn't know are dumb. They put themselves in the dumb position by not seeing it. Buffy had a right to be upset they couldn't see it. I never liked the title of this episode. Interventions on this show are always the Scoobies chastizing Buffy for what they don't like whether it's actually wrong or not. And considering the intervention is about them doing so for what the bot does and get solved pretty quickly (another reason I think Buffy has the right to be upset they couldn't tell her apart from a robot), the title just seems off.
I get it, but I think it's okay here because them not seeing it was a robot was played for a joke, the same way the fact that they all immediately knew April was a robot was also a joke.
@@BenChanNYC Being played for an audience joke isn't the same as an in-universe joke. It can be funny while still being upset at the group for it. That doesn't mean that in-universe Buffy doesn't have a right to be upset at them, as she is.
Please stop trying to down play what Spike did , I know you're not a big fan of Spike and Buffy in a romantic sense , But it's a really well known fact that soulless Spike has more good in him then soulless Angel , We got a glimpse of that way back in season 2 when soulless Spike put away his differences and desire to kill Buffy and helped her to stop Angel regardless of what his motive behind it was , Buffy could never trust another soulless vampire to be in her house and around her mother , Spike then came back in season 3 and was around her mother alone in her house and had plenty of opportunity to kill her but never did, He only asked for hot chocolate with marshmallows, Then he had Willow and Xander locked in warehouse and didn't kill them , He could have easily killed the both of them and lied to Buffy to still get what he wanted , Again I say please stop trying to down play spikes good deeds as a soulless vampire.
@@Buffy8Fan I didn't say she didn't have a right to be mad. Her reaction was fine, (and funny) then they moved on because this wasn't a serious episode. I'm saying the show did a good job balancing character and humor.
@@BenChanNYC SPOILERS FOR BOTH SERIES AND COMICS Actually, I am a fan of Spuffy, but I don't kid myself. They cannot have a healthy releationship until he has a soul, and even then they have a lot to talk about which they eventually do, but it takes until the comics to talk enough about their issues of what they've done (to and not to each other) enough to be in a truly good place for a healthy romance. In the longrun Spike is actually Buffy's healthiest romance. Being better than Angelus when soulless doesn't mean he isn't soulless. Doing good without a soul doesn't mean he is good. I don't see Spike as doing good while soulless as him being a good guy. If you do, that's great that you defend it. But I don't. And I don't want to put spoiler warnings on all my comments, so not all my theories will be fully fleshed out unless people challange them.
The episode highlights mistreatment of female characters through the Buffybot, which objectifies Buffy, and through the portrayal of Glory as an unstable goddess dependent on male minions.
Can we take a minute to appreciate Sarah Michelle Gellar's perfomance at the end? She's playing Buffy pretending to be the Buffybot (Which obviously, was Sarah as well) and doing a subtle enough job that we can tell she's the real Buffy, even though she's both.

And her comedy's performance is so great
You wanted a break from the sadness? I give you Giles doing the hokey-pokey and shaking his gourd.
Giles shaking his gourd will never get old. The Buffybot is both hilarious and disturbing as far as Spike's Buffy obsession is concerned. But he does get huge points for not folding under Glory's torture. And SMG is brilliant in that end scene.
BAHAHAHA!!! I actually rewatched that episode last week and it was just as funny as the first time! What a great episode!
It's great to see Sarah having a chance to be goofy.

Loved you laughing again after the last two episodes ❤
No more tears, no more sadness? Knowing that there's 2 seasons left......
Well, I meant just a break 🤣
Awesome episode. It shows how great an actress SMG is when I find myself thinking what a good impression of the Bot she pulled off in the final scene.
Yes, it's a real cougar, apparently you can see the trainer at the edge of some shots but I've never been able to pick them out.
That's just amazing. It was such a beautiful scene!
👍
"Death is your gift ..." ... ohhh ... I remember this! Or I think I do :D If it's the link I think ... well ... there'll be need of tissues {that sounds wrong } ... but that's not a surprise with Buffy :)
Kinda sad to see Buffybot go.
Spike will miss her 🤣
Kinda glad they didn't have that creepy thing around for the rest of the season 😅 That was a storyline I was glad they wrapped up in one ep. It was funny while it lasted, but having Spike "play" with her for a longer time would have been overdoing it.
Ms. Jules, you are good with reactions, and water flows from your eyes a lot. ~ Buffybot
Hey 👋 it's lovely to see you again 🤣
Thank you Ms.J. Your most sparklyness. I had to go away for awhile, but im back in Sunnydale, again. ~ #1 minion
You crack me up. I might need a dose of your brain soon. Just a little pick me up, ya know what I'm sayin'? Promise it won't hurt much....
Gosh, Ms. Jules you sound like Ms. Glory. Shes always touching people's heads and taking their brains. Darn tootin. ~Willow
it must have been so fun to play the buffybot! so silly. spike is the BIG bad ;) that last scene is so good too. you did a great job figuring everything out.
Thank you 🤗 Spike would be thrilled knowing he's the big bad 🤣 he's always desperate to be seen as scary hehe
My favourite episode, such a masterpiece by Jane.
Hey there, Jules!💜
The field of stars is back once more! As ever, Nice!😊
I am going to make my own stab in the dark and say - you could probably save some time and write a little bit - "Yes, I mentioned that in the video!" for pasting in to the comments!🤭
A serious episode, but filled with much humor.
It took me by surprise!🤣
As to something from the outro - Yes Spike is evil, as you're often told, but I think, of late - and this is my opinion of course - he is evil for his own purposes, and does not lend himself so easily to others means and ends, which makes his end scene, with Buffy, so very honest.🥰
A great episode. Very funny, yet feeling very important, as you say. I enjoyed this one quite a lot.😍
Have a lovely weekend, Jules.💜🤗💜 Take a break - it wouldn't be wrong - Stay busy, but with enjoyable things... not chasing deadlines.
Can't they just curse him and give him a soul 🤣
Thank you, Tom 💜😊 I hope you have a lovely weekend, too! I've been up editing since 6:30 but then at 8am I was happy enough with my progress that I decided to go for a walk! Definitely trying to prioritise me a lot more, when I can 🥰 I'll finish the edit later 🤣
Oh.... See, about the petition thing... 😅
Of course, I can't allude to anything spoiler-y but I'll sign that petition for you in a heartbeat. 😊
Look, there are still seasons 6 and 7.
We weren't really sure about that back when the show first aired. I think they changed networks or something like that.
But if it helps and makes you look forward a little bit more. I think we're close enough now so that I can say: Season 6 is my favorite season! 👍
NICE!!! Some people have said Season 6 is their least favourite, so that makes me excited!
@@julesreacts We'll talk a bit more about it maybe, when season 6 is over. 👍
Will probably watch every Buffy reaction from now until at least the end of season 6. Can't wait.
For Doctor Who, that's already a given.
You have to remember the Buffyverse rule lol Joss gives us what we think we want but not necessarily how and when we want it 😂
OH YES.... it looks like he's done that to Spike too haha
In my country its usually 3 AM when u post videos, I see them on time lol.
Aww 🥹 it's 6am for me!
This season always feels so weird, it feels like not a lot has happened other than obviously Joyce dying and Riley leaving, but how are there are only 4 episodes left?
..... You know, now that I think about it! But this has been my favourite season so far 💜
@@julesreacts it’s one of my favorites. I always liked Glory and every rewatch I’m like WHERE HAS GLORY BEN? I mean been 😂
of course everyone likes Buffybot - she's Terminator's little sister! 😅
She's much prettier than the Terminator too haha
@@julesreacts can you imagine the terminator with braids?
BRAID MY BACK, he might say!
The other, not so pleasant, Buffy...
Much needed comedy after such heavy hearted episodes.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Have a great weekend!
Thank you, Matthew!! Have a lovely weekend yourself 😀
"Death is your Gift"...Ominous...Very Ominous...=)
Spike is let off pretty lightly for his Buffy robot here. Show on full power now.
I love the Buffybot!
2:32 Jules has been saying this for three episodes, but with very different emotions behind it.
You're fetting there. Just think you have seen most of Buffy now. Enjoy the rest of the ride.
Yes.... it's gone SO quickly!
Nearly posted a spoiler before I realized it was in the NEXT episode. :P
Welcome back to Sinaya(AKA First Slayer(never says the name in the show, only the comics, so it's not a spoiler). "Death is your gift!" "Death is my gift?" "Death is your gift!"
"Xander! And...Anya. How is your money?" XD
"Angel is lame. His hair goes straight up and he's bloody stupid!" LMFAO!
DHMIS season 2, Episode 2 vibes from you at Sinaya's words: "Hey, WOW, I didn't like that!"
The final scene with Spike and Buffy is still amazing.
I love Spike's programming 🤣 HILARIOUS
@@julesreacts "Gyles"is still the best.
All this time, we've been pronouncing Giles's name wrong. Lol
It seems so 🤣🤣
Jules is a bot! So am I! The 'bots are taking over! Oh wait - I need a sandwich.
Wait…you guys are NOT baking a cake!…
@@BenChanNYC SPOILERS FOR BOTH SERIES AND COMICS
Actually, I am a fan of Spuffy, but I don't kid myself.
Sorry to tell you but there will be more tears lol
At least we had a nice break in this one haha
What about Season 5 Episode 17?
Ah sorry, forgot to add that one to the playlist. Fixed now!
@@julesreacts I think there's another Season 5 episode you missed.
❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍
Ah the Buffy bot. Funny for a moment until you think longer about what it actually is.
That Warren guy is a weird and unpleasant creep. I sure hope he doesn’t return in future episodes.
The episode highlights mistreatment of female characters through the Buffybot, which objectifies Buffy, and through the portrayal of Glory as an unstable goddess dependent on male minions.
le risque que je cherche à trouver le temps de trouver des bricoles à faire là ou l'on n'a pas besoin de moi est incomparable
